Dear friends,
For the last four decades, Afghanistan suffered from geopolitical games played by our neighbors at our expense. By saying that, I am not absolving Afghans of any blame in what has occured in our country.
While there are numerous internal problems which we need to address urgently, there are less urgent, but equally important matters in need of our attention.
One of the main factors of the current unrest, is the role of our two neighbors, India and Pakistan.
Afghan government is divided into different factions who all have their own respective foreign backers. Some groups are backed by India, while others are backed by Pakistan.
The armed opposition to the current regime is equally divided into different factions. Some members of the Taliban are loyal to Pakistan and others feel compelled to act in accordance with Pakistan's interests. Other members of the Taliban oppose the role of Pakistan within their organization, which is why, the group is going through an internal crisis at the moment.
The sole reason why both, Pakistan and India are involved in Afghanistan is their decades long hostility. The two have spent the last 70 years indoctrinating their people through education and mass media to distrust and hate each other.
This unhealthy emotional relationship between the two countries is the reason why citizens of both countries cannot imagine themsleves living in peace and coexisting as two nations in the same region.
Many Indians and Pakistanis wish to see their neighbors disappearing from the face of the earth. This is why both countries have little to no trouble finding will men and women to conduct subversive operations against one another.
It is no secret the Kashmiri rebels are nurtured by the Pakistanis and the Baloch marxist seperatist are supported by India.
While they may be involved in subversive activities in each others backyard, they are also fighting a proxy war in Afghanistan. Both sides have total disregard for Afghan lives and are willing to support any side at any cost to weaken the opponents strategic interests in Afghanistan.
Solution
In order to take the burden off the soulders of Afghans, we need to think about solving the problem of Indo-Pak. If both countries resolve their hostilities, then, maybe, both can assist Afghanistan in regaining a level of stability and internal peace.
For this purpose, I have opened this thread, where I will share my views and my solutions for the problem.
Feel free to comment on anything I have posted, and please don't hasitate to share your own thoughts with the rest.
