True. The Sunni and Shiites have parted ways and the distance between the two is so big there is no way they can stop their hostilities. Aside from theological differences, the wars and atrocities have removed all possibilities of a future reconciliation.
The only solution is to have a powerful dictator who can control all segments of society. This is exactly what the Americans want. A tyrant who serves their interests.
Most Arabs in Middle East are in favor of tyranny. Sisi in Egypt and Assad in Syria do have many supporters who are willing to live under tyranny but with certainty of some sort.
This is why Isis is like a blessing from the sky for America and others. It gives them the opportunity to take advantage of people's desperation. After a while they will forward a solution which we'll entail accepting a tyrant like Sisi who will be America's man in Baghdad.
The same game is played by Iran. They tried to keep their man, Maliki in Baghdad but they failed.
All players which to have their own ziaul haw/Mubarak/Sisi/Assad in the contested territories.
