  • Critical assessment of President Ashraf Ghani

The first round of Afghan presidential elections was more than 1 year ago.

Ashraf Ghani is the winner and considering the fact that he was secular pashtun nationalists favorite candidate, I am curious to know how you guys feel about him now.

Since PF is the hub of secular nationalists, I assume that most of you fully supported his candidacy.

How do you assess his presidency? Did he give you what you expected from him? Is he able to finish his term succesfully? Is he any better than Karzai?

Please be as elaborate as you can.

    Thanks.

Till now he did not show any improvements. I hear from people that we have to give him more time, well he has another 4 years to prove himself. I still think its to early to judge him, it would be better to ask this question again after his first term.

I feel like he's Afghanistan's Obama, making promises and not fulfilling them or going back on them. I don't like the fact that he's relying heavily on Pakistan and other countries for support and not using his own cunning wits and cuns to figure out the issue on his own.

With his mentality, Afghans will always rely on foreigners for help and will never learn to do anything on their own.

Afghanistan in current state is todler who need to walk, with help of his daddy Pakistan.

Pakistan in 1947 had very few industries if at all, most of them were build in India by British. But Pakistan even in 1947 was in better shape then current day Afghanistan. So you can imagine the rest.

I would even say that ancient Pakistan 9000 years ago in Merhgarh was in better state then current day Afghanistan.

People who lives in Afghanistan have all seen rapid change. It is the word of foreigners who thinks no change have occurred. The corruption have been markedly lowered. Don't get me wrong; injustice and corruption is still present, but in much lower rate than before.

Taking the situation Ashraf Ghani is in, the improvements are quite good in comparison to what it could be. One have to walk his shoes to understand the difficulties.
                  - He have to share power with the frog Abdullah x2 (which have caused several internal problems)
                  - The corruption that is sanctioned by Abdullah x2
                  - Taliban threat/insurgency
                  - Foreign threat
                  - Economic problems
                  - The markedly declined/non-existent foreign support
                  - Geopolitical problems

If he didn't have insurgency threat, then internal problems could have been solved and dealt with. And vice versa, if he didn't have internal problems, then insurgency would have been an easy task. The problem the president is ind, is the fact that he faces both of them. This makes the tasks far more difficult then one could imagine. It is quite easy for you guys to judge, when you guys are sitting in the comfort of the west, and are out of touch from the ground realities.

If Taliban claims to represent the Afghans, then I would like to ask a question. What have you guys achieved in the last 14 years...
Don't quote me or speak to me if you hate Afghanistan, you be ignored.

People with identity crisis will be ignored as well.

Are u saying ghani's gang are not corrupt? Only frog faces people are corrupt?

if this is what u are saying, didn't Ghani know that before he accepted the orders of john Kerry to participate in NUG?

if he knew Abdullah is corrupt and he still chose to be part of a unity govt with corrupt people what does that make him?

if life of ordinary afghans have improved significantly since Ghani residency, can you prove this by sharing any information which is unbiased and reliable?

that's as a simple question. Who pays for all the "good news" coming from Afghanistan?
