  • Woman burned

A 27-year-old woman ‎who was beaten to death and later burnt over alleged burning of Holy Quran was mentally ill, her parents said.
Farkhunda was severely beaten to death by angry civilians on Thursday‎ near Shah-e-Do Shamshera Mosque of Kabul when people accused her of burning Islam's sacred book.
‎Her parents, however, said that Farkhunda was mentally ill for 16 years and she had not committed the act intentionally.
The Kabul Police confirmed her death and urged on the arrest of the perpetrators

Grana…a question I don’t know why you communist/socialist have too much expectation from leaders and government? Honestly I don’t see any difference between communist and Taliban/Islamist…both want government to dictate and manage every single aspect of peoples life including their moral behavior. If your faith in god or in your case your communist ideology is real, then it wouldn’t matter if others refuse to share your religious perspective, so long as they’ve the right to practice their belief in peace. I honestly think there is a positive correlation between freedom and economic prosperity. A lack of freedom is precisely why Muslim nations are in an eternal state of coma and no Ghani or leader can take the Muslim nation out of this coma unless/until society/culture changes and people understand that if you really are committed to your faith, then surely you can muster the strength to withstand discourse, otherwise your faith isn’t worth two pennies.
No amount of violence can shut curious mind…in fact these action only accelerate the disillusion of people with Islamic faith in most of these countries---as it was the case with communism a few decade ago.

Afghanistan is a hopeless case. Or on the path to becoming a proper "ad-Dawla al Islam" depending on your view.

This was so dum to do. The people are really savages who killed the poor mentaly ill woman. I bet if this ws a man he would be arreste by police, but becuase she was a woman the crowd killed her on the spot. This shows again what kind of position a woman has in the Islamic state of Afghanistan.

Why Muslims are so much emotional about Quran and Muhammad? If someone burns few pages ,will Quran disappears from the earth or few cartoons will drown Muhammad to abyss.

woman lynched in KabulAccording to reports, the Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs (MoHRA) officials have said that the woman who was lynched by mob in Kabul did not burn the holy Quran.
The officials quoted by in a number of media reports late on Friday have confirmed that their investigations have revealed the books had Persian transcripts and there was evidence to prove the accusations against the victim.
The woman lynched by mob in Kabul on Wednesday was identified as Farkhunda who was a resient of Khair Khana area of Kabul city.
She was reportedly visiting Shah Do Shamsher shrine and mosque every weekend for prayers who was suffering mental illness for many years.
At least seven people including a man who had claimed involvement in murder and burning of Farkhunda were arrested by police following the incident.
Sediq Sediqi, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior (MoI), said Friday that the Interior Minister has ordered to launch an investigation into the incident and detain all those involved behind the murder of the woman.
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani also ordered an immediate probe into incident and formation of an independent commission to investigate the brutal murder of the woman.
The United Nations condemns also condemned the brutal murder of the woman in the strongest terms. “We are particularly worried by reports that the woman had suffered from mental illness for many years,” said Elzira Sagynbaeva, the Country Representative for UN Women in Afghanistan. “We are encouraged by initial reports of the arrest of several suspects, but call on the authorities to investigate this incident fully and bring to justice all persons who actively participated in the killing, or aided and abetted it.”
The continued increase in the number of cases of violence against women and girls in Afghanistan has become a source of major concern, Ms. Sagynbaeva noted, and must not be tolerated. Afghan women’s rights to safety and security have to be ensured, she said, and the survivors of violence supported and perpetrators brought to justice.
Mark Bowden, the Deputy Special Representative for the Secretary-General in Afghanistan and acting head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), also condemned the attack.
“The burning of the Quran contradicts the efforts of the United Nations to promote tolerance, intercultural understanding and mutual respect between cultures and religions,” said Mr. Bowden. “However, the brutal murder of this woman is an unspeakably horrendous act that should result in those responsible being prosecuted, to the fullest extent possible, under Afghan law.”
Ms. Sagynbaeva, Mr. Bowden and the UN family in Afghanistan extend their deepest condolences to the family of the victim.

The Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs (MoHRA) officials have said that the woman who was lynched by mob in Kabul did not burn the holy Quran. The

You know publicaly burning and lynching was done often in India and Pakistan, that was the reason why a lot of people from central Asia and Afghanistan actually looked down on them, but now they have become the same as them. I think one day Europeans will become the same. You will see public excution here as well....

The perpetrators will escape justice. Ghani doesn't want to offend the religious sentiment of extremists and barbarians.
