Biography of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said
His Majesty Sultan Qaboos was born in Salalah, the most southerly city of the state then known as Muscat and Oman, on 18th November 1940. He was the only son of the late Sultan Said bin Taimur and the eighth direct descendant of the royal Al Busaidi line founded in 1744 by Imam Ahmad bin Said. Sultan Qaboos spent his childhood in Salalah. When he reached the age of 16, his father sent him to a private school in England, and in 1960 he entered The Royal Military Academy SandHurst as an officer cadet. Educational life of the sultan
After passing out of SandHurst, he spent a year with a British infantry battalion on duty in Germany and then held a staff appointment with the British army. Later, speaking to young officers at a passing out parade, Sultan Qaboos recalled his own military training. “The values that I absorbed have remained with me forever afterwards,” he said. “I learned that discipline is not just something one imposes on others; it is something that one has, above all, to apply to oneself, if one is to be a worthy leader of men. I also learned the true meaning of service: that is, to give, and not to expect to receive, and that it is the team, and not oneself, that matters. I learned that with responsibility comes obligation.”
Having finished his military service, His Majesty studied local government in England and then embarked on a tour of the world. When he returned to Oman, he spent six years studying Islam and Omani history in Salalah. On the abdication of his father and his subsequent accession on 23rd July 1970, Sultan Qaboos moved to Muscat to implement his vision for the country’s development.
His Hobbies and interests
His Majesty loves the land and sea trips this hobby practiced within the annual programs which keen to inspect the conditions of his people. During these trips His Majesty, accompanied by certain ministers and advisers, travels round the country - sometimes for several weeks at a time - stopping off in various places to meet local citizens, sheikhs and dignitaries. These meetings take place either at Royal Camp sites or on the road in more spontaneous encounters.I am Mleccha, slayer of Aryan swine.

In memory of the great record of efforts of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said - May Allah protect him - for the progress and welfare of his people and the contributions of His Majesty at the regional and international levels, and His Majesty’s care for the environment and support for human rights, a newly discovered rose has been named after him, to be known as ‘Sultan Qaboos Rose’. Encyclopedia of Sultan Qaboos of Arabic Names
Sultanate of Oman is always keen on enriching the cultural life and the Arabic library by providing valuable additions. One of these additions is the Encyclopedia of Sultan Qaboos of Arabic Names. The original encyclopedia came as a result of a personal initiative of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said - May Allah protect him The implementation of the project started in October 1985.The new encyclopedia is a result of extensive research carried out by more than 150 researchers from various Arab countries in many scientific fields. That comprised a wide range of linguistic, social, historical, political, literary researches that focused on nearly 7 million Arabic names by using the latest scientific and statistical methods. The Omani project is a historic scoop that fills a vacuum in the Arab library. It also provided a model for outstanding cooperation among dozens of researchers in various fields who came from all around the Arab world.
Sultan Qaboos Prize for Environmental Preservation
Sultan Qaboos Prize for Environmental Preservation is the first Arab award awarded at the global level in the field of environmental protection. Thanks to His Majesty's initiative and the UNESCO’s approval, this award was established in 1989.
The International Peace Award
Peace has been essence of the Omani policy in terms of strategy and approach since His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said came to throne at the start of the modern Omani Renaissance. Adoption of such a peaceful approach is based on the fact that the construction and national development and establishment of a modern state requires the provision of essential requirements which are topped by a locally, regionally and internationally suitable climate. Bearing in mind peace is indivisible; it is highly esteemed by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman. Therefore, peace is the center of moderate Omani policies at Gulf, regional and international levels. Thanks to the instructions of His Majesty and his deep belief in peace, the Sultanate of Oman enjoys the ability and courage not only to express with utmost clarity and openness its attitudes and point of view regarding different situations and developments on the Gulf, Arab and international levels, but Oman also worked hard to put this into practice in its relations with other countries. When 10 of the most famous American universities, in addition to a large number of centers of research and political and strategic studies that are worldwide acclaimed highly esteem the policies of His Majesty the Sultan and the role of His Majesty plays in the achievement and maintenance of peace, this clearly reflects the extremely significance of the achievements of that great Arab figure. His Majesty is the first leader to be awarded this prize since it began in 1998. The Silk Road
The Sultanate of Oman adopted the global call launched by the UNESCO to study the Silk Road and the ancient trade that were exchanged by land and sea caravans between the peoples of the world.
Given the civilization importance of the project and the geographical location of Oman site and the role it played in the process of human communication between East and West, Oman has played a leading role in the voyage of the Silk Road. His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said has allocated his own Royal yacht ‘Folk As-Salamah’ [i.e. Safety Boat] with all its crew to be used by UNESCO staff for the journey. Such a kind gesture was in recognition of His Majesty to the scientific returns of the UNESCO’s study and its positive results as it would result in a number of important findings which can be used to increase the interchangeability among the peoples of the world.I am Mleccha, slayer of Aryan swine.

Homosexuality is a Western import.Originally posted by Brown Skinned Savage View PostHonestly; the ONLY sane leader in the Muslim world from all apparent evidence.
Rumors suggest he's gay though, but whatever, better to have a sane homosexual at the helm than a bunch of lunatic heterosexuals.
May Waja Qaboos is the leader of a Muslim country; he cannot be gay.
Just because someone isn't married, it doesn't mean he's gay. There are plenty of gay men who have married to hide it.I am Mleccha, slayer of Aryan swine.

No, you misunderstand me.Originally posted by Yousufzai View PostThe idea of being attracted to someone from the same gender came from the West? Are you serious?
Sodomy existed before White people but we did not accept it in our culture.
We did not have and still do not have "gays" in the Western sense of the word. What we have in Pakistan are "eunuchs" [khwaja sira in Urdu] and "men who have sex with men" [bacha baaz/launday baaz], both of which are not the same as being gay in the Western sense. One is transgender and the other is because of a lack of contact with women, neither chose it.
So yes, the idea of accepting homosexuality (attraction to the same gender) is indeed a Western import.I am Mleccha, slayer of Aryan swine.

Homosexuality was widely practiced and accepted in numerous pre-Western cultures including in Africa. This is not the same as lacking access to women, but actual attraction to men.
Eunuchs and gays are two very different things. You're confusing gender dysphoria, another bizarre aberration, with homosexuality.
