The video is on the left hand side of the page and features senior Pashtun nationalist leader in Pakistan, Ghulam Bilour saying that Islamabad has been forced in to working with Kabul.

Not a great video, Bilour is mumbling and doesn't sound very clear.

However Bilour knows how to scare the Pakistani regime as in the past he threatened a "Bangladesh" scenario if Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was not renamed.

First of all Bilour is not Pashtun.

Secondly for a matter of fact ANP or Awami National party has NO role in change of name for NWFP.

Renaming NWFP as Khyber Pukhtunkhwa was in fact a good move by non other than Musharraf who countered the blackmailing of ANP and thus get us the Pashtuns of Pakistan rid of ANP's lame Pashtunistan bluff.

If it was for ANP it would have or for Achakzai he would have kept delaying the name change so that they can keep using it as an excuse for carrying forward their politics in the name of Pashtuns of Pakistan.

So all in all this empty threat of Bangladesh like scenario has nothing to do with that.

Asfandyar Wali is Pashtun but he does not have any power without Bilour family.

this narrative coming from full stomach is quite famous in punjab and centre aligned idiots. what next please tell this Bengal tiger, how sheikh mujib r rehman bluffing over east pakistan, and he actually does not mean it.
Bilour is not pashutn, but you don't know that ANP have a provincial and nationalistic stance not an ethnic stance. AS far as Musharraf is concerned, then you are ignorant enough and don't know that 18th amendment was passed in Zardari era not musharraf era.

          1. Yes, you're right Bilour is not Pashtun.

I've quite clearly mentioned that in another thread:

News related to Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and other South Asian countries belong here.

Nor is Hajji Adeel, Ahsan Wynne and some others.

However Bilour is a member of a Pashtun nationalist party which works (no matter how imperfectly) for the rights of Pashtuns and he is thus a Pashtun nationalist leader, in the way ethnic Corsican Napoleon was a French leader or ethnic Georgian controlled a Russian-led USSR.

          2. The re-naming is not relevant to this thread but suffice to say that the name would not have been changed to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa if it were not for the ANP and others, it might have been changed to Sarhad or something else, Nawaz Sharif wanted "Hazara Pakhtunkhwa" but it is now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The renaming issue is one core issue which the ANP has striven for along with

          - ANP contribution to stopping the harmful construction of the Kalabagh dam.

          - ANP contribution to preventing the fencing of the so-called "Durrand line".

          - ANP protecting the rights of Pashtuns outside of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa e.g. a few years ago when some Pashtuns in Lahore were being harassed by local Punjabis by being called "terrorists", the ANP stepped in.

I freely admit they are widely viewed as corrupt and a disappointment by many Pashtuns and not true nationalists. If that is how you perceive them for example that is a failure on their part since you as a voter should have a good image of them and thus vote for them.

The whole function of a party is to make people think good of them and so vote for them.

          3. Asfandyar can still function without the Bilours or the Hotis who are very influential. However his grandfather, Bacha Khan (rahmatullahi 'alaih) set up modern Pashtun nationalism way before the Bilours or the Hotis.

The ANP and its predecessor the NAP existed before the Bilours.

The ANP is greater than the Bilours and has existed for decades before them and if the Bilours go (well the one remaining brother - though his niece is involved in the ANP), the ANP will continue.

Likewise Pashtun nationalism is greater than the ANP as Pashtuns have existed for millenia. If the ANP goes, Pashtuns will still continue.

          4. The non-Pashtun leaders of the ANP such as the Bilours, Hajji Adeel are more willing to be confrontational and aggressive than the actual Pashtun leaders.

So recently when the ANP hinted at strikes and demonstrations if the Arabian gulf to China railway did not go through Pakhtunkhwa, I suspected (with certain evidence) that it was the work of Hajji Adeel which it seems may well be the case.
