Well, you cant compare Putin with Erdogan. Putin has suppressed rights and liberties and has engaged violent campaigns in chechnya, georgia and unkraine while Erdogan has expanded freedoms and liberties, especially for the Kurds. Imperialists suppress liberties.

That alliance has been in place since the Kemalist reign and there is little Erdegan can do to disassociate Turkey from it. The moment he does the concerned powers will start using Kurdish and other problems against Turkey as per their habit of blackmailing whoever doesn't submit to their agenda fully.

The Salafists as per speculations are being supported by Saudi Arabia, Gulf states, Jordan, Isreal, and some countries in the west.
