  • The role of Afghan women in the media

There has been significant progress in the lives of Afghan women in the past thirteen years, with a number of legal reforms, new policies, and practical measures set forth to advance women’s rights and quality of life.
Women have gained back access to education, work, and social change right after the fall of the Taliban regime. In Afghanistan’s emerging media women are depicted in national and private television and radio programming and newspapers as urban, educated and modern citizens. Women in Afghan media can play a vital role in social changes, by encouraging equality and social inclusion. Women themselves in the media can introduce to the public positive images of women as experts and skilled resources on various issues such as health, education, security, politics, and governance.
In your opinion how important is the inclusion of women in private and government sectors?
    Very respectfully,

Lol, are these Centcom people for real?

Women in Afghanistan, since the invasion.

Malalai Joya, Afghanistan's leading feminist, says, "Afghanistan [today] is the worst place to be a woman in the world. It’s at the top of the list of the most under-developed countries in the whole world."

Also, read the statements of RAWA, which make it clear that the U.S.-NATO occupation of Afghanistan has not helped women in any significant way.
