Sometimes I think until a country or a society reaches a level of social development in terms of education, application of law, civic sense etc., it needs a forward-minded tyranny.

First you must know what a democracy is. Democracies don't exist because they do not work except on local small town or village levels.

Tyrants enslave people, so freedom is sacrificed. Who in your mind is a forward minded Tyrant? Najib? His forward minded policies gave Pakistan permanent leverage over his people.

What is alternative to democracy? One man cannot decide the fate of millions. A democracy with checks and balances as in US is the ideal system of governance. More democracy will bring more democracy, more education and more development. Democracy is against Islamism, this why Mullah does not want democracy.
