Abdul Ghafoor Afghan Yaar an Afghan National Police (ANP) officer has saved the lives of thousands of Afghans by defusing more than 6,000 mines and IEDs in Helmand province. For Afghan Yaar defusing mines and IEDs is a very easy task as he defuses between 20 to 40 mines and IEDs daily in Helmand province. Abdul Ghafoor Afghan Yaar has saved the lives of more than 24,000 people. After training for only two months, Afghan Yaar could easily detect and defuse planted mines and IEDs.
Roadside mines and IEDs are the deadliest means of death in Afghanistan and in the past year alone has claimed an alarming number of lives.The anti- Afghan government elements plant mines and IEDs to fight and attack Afghan National Security Forces making this the biggest barrier for Afghan security forces.
