Thats not good to hear tbh..esp for pashtun idps....The poor idp pashtuns ll suffer on both lands. Now it seems that govt is doing wrong. They should give visas so that everyone could be registered and any suspicious person should be expelled.
They shoukd increasesecurity instead...and find out whereare the culprits involved.Expelling poor people is no solution...now i feel more sad.

So it is confirmed, initially upto 0.5Million Unregistered Refugees will be asked to return to Afghanistan.

UNHCR clears path for Pakistan to deport undocumented Afghan refugees

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan government can take any decision it deems appropriate for dealing with undocumented Afghan refugees, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) representative Yoshimi Saits said on Monday, clearing a path for the government to deport them.

Clarifying that UNHCR is only responsible for registered Afghan refugees bearing Proof of Registration (PoR) cards, Saits said undocumented refugees are not the responsibility of the agency.

During a meeting with Minister for SAFRON Lt Gen (Rtd) Abdul Qadir Baloch in Islamabad on Monday, Saits said that UNHCR was mandated to protect registered registered refugees. But, he added, Pakistan can take appropriate decisions regarding unregistered, undocumented refugees in view of its national interest.

Saits informed the minister that the agency is considering enhancing repatriation grant for refugees, which is currently set at $200 per head.

Lt Gen Baloch apprised the UNHCR representative regarding the situation of Afghan refugees and related tolerance threshold of the local host communities as well as pressure being exerted by the provincial government.

The minister emphasised on the need for creating pull factors and conducive environment for early repatriation of refugees.

He also directed the secretary SAFRON and Chief Commissioner Afghan Refugees to visit UNHCR headquarters in Geneva to apprise the UNHCR high commissioner about the Afghan refugees issue and recent developments

Why are they removing them? The Pakistani establishment messed up their country, and when they seek refuge in Pakhtunkhua and work hard and live decent lives, they're expelled?

In Afghanistan they will have a better future as they atleast will let there children study. In Pakistan except those living i peshawar, the rest don't even send their kids to govt school where they can study upto 10th grade with free books supplied and upto 12th grade with no fee.

On the other hands, the tajik afghan refugees are not only educated better than even the local but few years back one of the tajik boy was the topper of peshawar board.Even in Bannu despite having very small numbers,i can name atleast 2 famous doctors including one of them famous throughout Bannu and infact is usually quoted by media agencies when a blast or something related happen in Bannu.

I don't think that's true. I went to two different schools and colleges in Peshawar, and a lot of the kids there were Pashtuns from Afghanistan. They were quite bright too.

Even if that is really true, however, the solution should be to encourage education among Afghan Pashtuns in Pakistan. I don't see how telling them to leave will solve anything, bro.

                    I agree with this.
Both Afghanistan and Pakistan should encourage the refugees to return back home. They would be much better of in Afghanistan rather then being in Pakistan don't even threat their pashtuns properly. At least they will learn to read and write which will be a big plus in the future for them.

But they should not be forced... Afghanistan should be ready to take them. Not sure if it is possible right now. Let the peace come first.

afghan-refugeesUnited Nations Humanitarian Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) says the government of Pakistan has granted legal stay to Afghan Refugees in their country and therefore they should not expel them forcefully.
Qaisar Afridi, spokesman for UNHCR in Pakistan says the Refugee Cards issued to Afghans do not expire until the end of 2015.
Afridi said Afghans should not be made to leave unless they want to.
The federal government of Khayber Pakhtunkhwa, following a deadly Peshawar attack, issued a one month deadline for Afghans to leave their territory.
The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said they can no longer house Afghan refugees in their territory since it is damaging the economy.
But some Afghan Refugees in Peshawar say Pakistan is making excuse to receive funds from international donars.
They say Pakistan in the past also has issued statements like this but after receiving fund they would not expel the refugees.

The reason i said except Peshawar but now i would also include Abbottabad into it,as even in abbottabad the afghan refugees does attend school. But this is not the case with those in bannu, dik, kohat or fata.It would be safe to assume that atleast more than 70% of the kids don't attend school.

Those living in Peshawar are perhaps among the richest people in Peshawar and they already have citizenship now.

Why? half of today's "pakistan" belongs rightfully to the Pashtuns/Afghans. If they want to be there with their families etc. Why follow British/paki law in Pashtun soil?
To Paradise, with Pakhto, I will go.

I hope they are just sent back with dignity and the corrupt Afghan government should provide them help rather than filling their own pockets. Pashtuns are hospitable people and Afghan refugees were treated very well by the common people. Let's hope the days are over when pashtuns have to be displaced from their homes wether from fighting in Afghanistan or in KPK and FATA.

Iam still not in favor of those refugees being sent back to afg...cozblack water and hazara are waiting for them ...pashtunsll suffer there more. They ll be exposedto more hardshipsand ignorance...Whole afg has hazara tajik occupied school and colleges...Not much opportunities for pashtuns due to low security.
