Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1981, “Peace Day” is an opportunity for individuals, organizations and nations to come together to promote peace throughout the world. Since the inception of the International Day of Peace, numerous commemorative events, activities and observances have been held around the world by United Nations’ offices, governmental and non-governmental agencies, and civil society and religious groups to promote the ideals of peace and non-violence.
Afghan youth are continuously working to promote peace building throughout Afghanistan. It is safe to say that Afghanistan has come a long way since the Taliban rule.
It is also great to see the youth being more proactive in regards to restoring peace in the country. Their efforts will play a major role in shaping Afghanistan’s future; therefore, these events leave us feeling optimistic about Afghanistan’s future.
How important is the role of youth in peace building?
