  • Pakistan condemns Israeli aggression in Gaza

ISLAMABAD / GAZA CITY: Pakistan has expressed concern and condemned the recent escalation of violence and loss of lives in Gaza brought forth by Israeli aggression, the Foreign Office said on Wednesday.

In a press release issued today, the foreign office said that Pakistan also supports the efforts of the international community to halt the Israeli strikes which have resulted in the deaths of several Palestinians – including children.
Eleven women and children were among 17 Palestinians killed in Israeli strikes on Gaza Wednesday, hiking the overall death toll to 38 in two days, the emergency services said.

More than 300 people have been wounded.
Among the dead was at least one militant, as well as six children and five women, emergency services spokesperson Ashraf al Qudra told AFP. It was not immediately clear whether the other five fatalities were civilians or militants.

The deadliest single strike took place shortly after midnight when a missile slammed into a house in the northern town of Beit Hanun, killing Hafez Hammad, a senior Islamic commander, and five of his family members, including two women and two children.

In another series of raids to the north and east of Gaza City, Israeli warplanes killed two more women and four children, Qudra said.

Two brothers, Mohammed Aarif, 13 and 12-year-old Amir were killed in an air strike on Shejaiya, east of Gaza City, while another strike in the nearby Zeitun district killed Amina Malaka, 27, and her 18-month-old son Mohammed, he said.

Further north, another missile hit Beit Hanun, killing 40-year-old Sahar al-Masri and her 14-year-old son Ibrahim, he added.

Elsewhere in Gaza, a 30-year-old man was killed in a pre-dawn strike on the southern city of Rafah. His identity was not immediately clear.

And several hours later, a drone fired a missile at a motorcycle in the northern town of Beit Lahiya, leaving 30-year-old Rafiq al-Kafarne clinically dead and another person severely wounded.

In Mughraqa in central Gaza, medics retrieved the body of 80-year-old Naifeh Farajallah from the rubble of her house damaged in an earlier air strike.
In the same area, an Israel missile killed two men in a field near Nusseirat refugee camp. Medics named them as Abdel Nasser Abu Kweik, 60, and his son Khaled, 31.

Overnight, Israeli warplanes struck 160 targets, raising the overall number of strikes to 430 since the launch of Operation Protective Edge in the early hours of Tuesday.

Since midnight (2100 GMT), at least 10 rockets struck Israel, and another 16 were shot down by Iron Dome, two of them over the Tel Aviv area, an army spokesperson said.

Israeli media reported that two rockets crashed into the sea Wednesday off the northern port city of Haifa, some 165 kilometres north of Gaza.
If confirmed, it would be the furthest a rocket fired from Gaza has ever travelled.

Throughout Tuesday, 117 rockets struck Israel, with 45 of them targeting major cities in the centre, among them Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, as well as Hadera, 116 kilometres to the north.

Another 45 missiles were shot down by the Iron Dome anti-missile system.
On Tuesday, 21 Palestinians were killed, including 17 in strikes on Gaza, as well as four Hamas militants who were shot dead after infiltrating southern Israel by sea.

Israeli strikes on Gaza kill 2 women, 4 children: medics
Israeli warplanes on Wednesday killed two women and four children in a series of strikes to the north and east of Gaza City, medics said.

“Four Palestinians were killed in air strikes, including two brothers who are 12 and 13 years old in Shejaiya, while a four-year-old boy and a woman were killed in a raid on Zeitun,” emergency services spokesperson Ashraf al Qudra told AFP.

Both neighbourhoods are located east of Gaza City, close to the frontier with Israel.

In a separate air strike on the northern town of Beit Hanun, a 40-year-old woman and her 14-year-old son were killed, he added

Pakistan should deploy troops in palestine, possibly along with turkey

UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan Wednesday urged the international community to act to stop Israel's unilateral strikes in the Palestinian occupied territores, saying the violence in the region had erupted because of the failure of the peace process.

"We call on the international community to intercede to end this cycle of violence and bring about a cessation of unilateral Israeli strikes that indiscriminately kill Palestinians — men, women and children," Ambassador Masood Khan, Pakistan's permanent representative to the UN, told the Palestinian Rights Committee, which held a special meeting to mark the 10th anniversary of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) advisory ruling declaring illegal Israel's construction of a separation wall in the West Bank.

Voicing deep concern over the "precarious" situation in occupied Palestinians territory, he condemned the "brazen" violence by the occupying authorities and the collective punishment being meted out to the Palestinian people.

He reiterated Pakistan's support for a two-state solution, which paves the way for a viable, geographically contiguous Palestinian state, created on the basis of pre-1967 borders, with Al Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

In this context, the Pakistani envoy called for the resumption of peace negotiations that should be pursued in earnest.

He also called for a speedy and impartial investigation into the brutal killing of the Palestinian youth, the 16 year-old Mohammed Abu Khdeir by Israeli zealots, saying the perpetrators should immediately be brought to justice.

Masood Khan called for the dismantling of the separation wall, as stated in ICJ's advisory opinion. "The Israeli expansionist wall being constructed deep inside the Occupied Palestinian Territory is illegal, plain and simple," he said. "Its construction must be immediately halted and the constructed part dismantled.

"Israel must implement UN General Assembly resolution that demands that Israel, the occupying Power, comply with its legal obligations as mentioned in the advisory opinion on the wall."

Meanwhile, a high-level UN panel was told that Pakistan is stepping up efforts to achieve the anti-poverty Millennium Development Goals - a set of time-bound targets agreed on by heads of state in 2000 - despite being hampered by security concerns, the fight against terrorism and natural disasters.

Marriyum Aurangzeb, a member of the National Assembly, said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's government was focusing on transition from MDGs to an inclusive agenda for sustainable development by adopting a strategy aimed at improving the people's lives, especially in health, education, socio-economic sectors.

In this regard, Aurangzeb, who is also the National Convener of the Parliamentary Task Force on MGDs, said a wide ranging dialogue has been initiated at national and provicial levels as well as with civil society, media policy experts and corporate sector to accomplish the objectives.

She said the Parliamentary Task force on MDGs was constituted at national and provincial levels, with 94 legislators representing all Pakistani political parties and regions to play a role in producing the necessary legislation and to oversee MDGs acceleration, transitioning from MDGs to Sustainable Development Goals and their implementation in Pakistan.

Aurangzeb said the present government's emphasis was on prioritizing investment in data measurement and management, institutional capacities, and for distribution of resources to provinces as it works towards ushering in economic prosperity.

        End.

What do you expect from these pakis other than hypocrisy? They are expressing "concern" with Israel while they bomb Pashtun villagers and proudly subordinate themselves to serve the imperialism of the anti-Islam Chinese.

China Xinjiang: Muslim students 'made to eat' at Ramadan

By Martin Patience BBC News, Beijing

Several university students from China's western region of Xinjiang have told the BBC that they are being banned from fasting during the month of Ramadan.

The three Muslim students we spoke to the BBC did not want their identities revealed as they fear government reprisals for speaking about a sensitive issue.

But they told us they were being forced to have meals with professors to ensure they were not fasting.

Those who refuse to eat risk being punished by officials.
One student told us, "If you want a normal life here then you'd better not fast."

Xinjiang is home to the Uighur ethnic minority - most of whom are Muslim.

Beijing blames a string of recent attacks on Muslim extremists and what it calls overseas terrorist groups.

On Thursday, courts in Xinjiang handed 32 people prison terms for downloading or sending "violent terror" videos.

Many Uighurs, however, say the violence is being fuelled by Beijing's repression of their cultural and religious beliefs.
The students who spoke to the BBC said that fasting was banned in all universities across the region.

Several government departments are also enforcing a ban.
One government hospital even got Muslim staff to sign a written pledge promising not to fast.

Fasting during the month of Ramadan - when the faithful do not eat or drink from sunrise to sunset - is considered one of the five pillars of Islam.

Traditionally, children, pregnant women, the sick and those travelling are exempt from fasting.

As part of a propaganda drive, state-run newspapers in Xinjiang have been running editorials warning about the health dangers of not eating and drinking.

This is not the first time the Chinese authorities have restricted fasting in Xinjiang.

But with the restrictions coming amidst growing violence in the region, it is likely to exacerbate tensions.

The students we spoke to at Kashgar Normal University said those Uighurs refusing to eat received official warnings, which could seriously affect their future career prospects.

In some cases, students could even be denied by their degrees.

"Most of us would like to fast," said one of the students. "But with the current situation most of us have decided against it."

Do you think if OIC calls a meeting, it will change anything? OIC is O I SEE. It is paper toothless tiger. The solution is a strong Palestine like Israel. In the real world, no body helps no body. You have to be strong yourself. If you are not strong enough, then keep low profile till you become strong to compete or fight.

Why Pakistan or Turkey should deploy its forces in Palestine? Pakistani army is for Pakistan, Turkish for Turkey and Afghan for Afghanistan. Every one responsible for his/her home. This is the era of Realism and nationalism. Yes UN can play a role but Pakistan should not take the responsibility of the whole Muslim world.

Actually they cant even if they wanted to. Everything is blocked by Israel and everything anyone transport to Gaza or Westbank will be checked by Israel. This is also the reason no one really can help them, even if they wanted to.
Even emergency supply as food and water will have to go through many checkpoints. This is also the reason why the international community blame/condemns Israel, because even in emergency situation everything will be blocked. Which leads to many Palestine deaths.
By the way, everyone have responsibility to help a fellow human being(regardless of nationality, ethnicity, religion).
Don't quote me or speak to me if you hate Afghanistan, you be ignored.

People with identity crisis will be ignored as well.
