Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai, presidential contender in the second round of election, asked Dr. Abdullah Abdullah to respect the rule of law and will of the people.
Ghani called on electoral bodies to release the results for the runoff vote as scheduled and said his team will wait for the end result.
He rejected all fraud allegations as baseless and said his team campaigned hard for every single vote and vowed to protect each and every vote.
Ghani added that his team remained silent and prevented from predicting results in a bid to respect the electoral bodies.
He said Abdullah team’s decision to boycott elections shows their defeat and demanded that Abdullah’s team should give clarification on how do they know his team got an extra one million votes.
Ghani said, “We reached our hand to Abdullah before the election to pledge with us to renounce fraud. We never had a reply. But we showed our commitment.”
He reiterated that protection of all clean votes is their basic right and warned that his team will not be intimidated by people who are threatening them.
