  • Pakistani's Tops the survey of "Willing to fight for their countries"

Islamabad : According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, majority Pakistanis (88%) say they would fight for their country if there were another war.

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women, from across the four provinces was asked, “If you had to choose, which one of these things would you say is most important?” Responding to this, 88% said yes and 10% said no. 2% did not respond.

A similar survey was conducted in China where 74% said yes compared to 20% who said no. 6% did not respond. When the same question was asked in Chile, 41% replied yes whereas 47% said no and 12% did not respond.

In the United States, 58% of the respondents said they would be willing to fight for their country compared to 41% who said they would not. 1% did not respond.

This study was done as part of the World Values Survey Sixth Wave, conducted apart from Pakistan in 60 other countries. The study was released recently in Doha where Gallup Pakistan’s Executive Director represented Pakistan.

The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1200 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during 30th January – 20th February, 2012. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.

Well its true Patriotism exist in almost every country but the amount of patriotism i have seen among Pakistanis for Pakistan,Indians for india and israely for israel is of different magnitude

This is the reason despite so much turmoil in Pakistan b/w 2007-2012-13 could not lead to a situation like Afghanistan,Iraq, syria or libya.Thank God the recovery is way too faster than expected

Today i am confident enough that even if World war III is fought within the borders of Pakistan,we won't split.

Their schools must be really crap, relying on disinformation and brainwashing if this poll is true.

Do they teach their youth that their name was "The British East Indian Company"? And Muhammad Ali Jinnah was a Freemason, which means he served their interests not the people's.

Smelly pakis under the banner of DPC said that they would lie down on the roads and sacrifice their lives to block NATO cargo travelling through napakistan if the paki government reopened the transport routes after Americans killed 24 paki soldiers during an air raid on Mohmand agency at the end of 2011.

When the Americans later got tired of their paki servants disobedience and showed them the stick alongside the carrot napakistan dutifully reopened the roads for NATO cargo supplies.

The DPC did not send their thousands of supporters to lie on the roads and sacrifice their lives to block the transport as they had said they would.

Smelly pakis spew **** from their mouths on a daily basis. Nobody takes them seriously because every time they open their mouths everybody can see what fools they are.

Pakis are like those dogs that bark a lot but bite seldom. Let there be a real war between Pakistan and India and then see how do Punjoos and other Indics fight. Saying it in surveys is one thing; doing it another.

One example suffices to show the bravery and integrity of Pakis. In 1971, withing one week Paki Army surrendered to Indians. Many generals ran away from the battle ground and two generals plundered the National Bank of Dhaka while escaping. This is the worst humiliation on any army in history.

In 1999 Kargil War, Punjabis were not willing to fight. And the work was mostly done by Norther Light Infantry and FC.

                  Bannu,

Some of this is common sense. Most people, whether they be Afghans, Americans, Yemenese, Saudi, etc if asked the question may interpret this primarily in the context of defense of their land.

It would be an entirely different case to fight an offensive war.

Besides, blind patriotism is a dangerous and destructive matter for both internal and external factors.

It was blind patriotism that allowed the American Military Industrial Complex to draw a nonexistent line between Saddam Hussein and particular people... it was the same blind phenomena that convinced the public regarding the existence of WMDs. We saw that such a venture was devastating to both Iraqis and to the prestige and well being of Americans.

In this same vein, Pakistanis have been indoctrinated to blindly love a military complex that controls the radio and TV waves in such a fashion that it has centralized power behind the facade of a civilian government.

As I stated before, Pakistanis who audition for military service have all heard the discussions regarding the respect, bungalows, and other favors the military bestows on its officers (all at the expense of the people).

A number of these high ranking officers (e.g. Musharraf) are whiskey drinking fools who are a bit over confident. Their view was that a low grade conflict in which they act out the part of ally to all would be of the utmost benefit. They did not realize just how compromised they became.

I still recall a NY Times article in which ISI officers joked about how "fresh" the CIA officers they knew were and how impractical and foolish. Lo and behold the CIA outsmarted them on multiple occasions.

Blind patriotism leads to militarism which in turn leads to societal stagnation. It permits a centralized military to be able to constantly focus resources on a nonexistent or generated imminent threat. The people in turn believe all the smoke and mirrors and go along for the ride.

A better nation is one that has firm control of its armed forces under a civilian authority with a mechanism in place that permits it be reigned in monetarily and otherwise... Pakistan has none of that.

I am not a blind patriotic to begin with and i hate blind patriotic Pakistanis like Zaid hamid and Hamid Gul.

It is very much true that Pakistan foriegn and to an extent internal policies are under Armed force's influence. It is also very much true that Army is not under civilian govt as much the indian army is.though the situation is also not as it was during zia era

The situation for me is choosing the slightly better of 2 evils and i am sure the lesser evil is army.

If someohow you can convience me to "Army a greater evil than TTP" i might agree with you only if your claim is supported by CREDIBLE source's.Because i am not a blind patriotic.

It is a big deal, only if you could connect the dots.

Attaturk was also a Freemason working hard to remove the Ottomans so he could sell his people to Eurotrash.

Both Jinnah and Attaturk were high ranking Masons that is why they were entrusted with so-called starting up a new nation. Which really is still controlled by the British.

If they weren't Masons they would not have been able to accomplish anything t
                          Your dis informed textbooks says.

Abdali was a conquerer, a Hindu one at that, and he wasn't being puppeteer to farangis like Jinnah and Attaturk. When you conquer, people die

Why don't you ever post something negative about pakistan? you know there are tons of articles out there that show the bad of Pakistan but you only cherry pick the good ones.
