Fatwa declares Operation Zarb-e-Azb a jihad

ISLAMABAD: Over 100 ulema from various schools of thought on Sunday declared Zarb-e-Azb, the ongoing military operation against militants in North Waziristan, as jihad.

The meeting of ulema, which was organised by Sunni Ulema Board here on Sunday, in its decree (fatwa) referred Verse No.33 of Surah-e- Almaidah of the Holy Quran, which says:”Crushing of the attempts to disrupt peaceful atmosphere in a Muslim state is jihad.”

The decree said the nation was bound to support the ongoing operation in North Waziristan Agency and the people opposing the operation were rebels as per Islamic Shariah.

It added that the state had the right to deal rebels with an iron hand as militants had murdered hundreds of innocent people and targeted various schools, shrines, hospitals, and innocent people. Islam, it said, did not allow individual Jihad.

lol, haven't you read the holy Quran? Jihad can only be done against kaffir and munafiqs. So it is a basic logic, if a person declare jihad for political reason against other Muslims who aren't involved with kaffirs, then it can only mean the one who declared jihad is a munafiq.

In this case those people declared an operation that attacks Muslims a jihad. Since those Muslim that being attacked have no connection to kaffir, means the one who declared it is a munafiq.

One can be honest and say the operation is for political reasons, then whether people thinks it is good or bad is up-to the individual person. In this case they declared it a 'jihad', which basically implies that they are munafiqs.
Now the operation is an act of kuffr and is haram for Muslims thanks to the declaration, whether it was a good or bad before is up-to discussion, but now it is definitely wrong and bad.
