The Sun in the Sky: The relationship between Pakistan’s ISI and Afghan insurgents
    By Matt Waldman
    Publishing date: June 2010

"Pakistan’s support to the Afghan insurgency is reinforced by its aspiration for influence among the Pashtuns that are divided by the disputed ‘Durand Line’, which separates Afghanistan and Pakistan. It thus seeks to subdue the ‘Pashtunistan’ cause and quiescent Afghan claims to territory in north-west Pakistan, including in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA."

    Pakistan: "The Taliban's Godfather"?

Washington D.C., August 14, 2007- A collection of newly-declassified documents published today detail U.S. concern over Pakistan's relationship with the Taliban during the seven-year period leading up to 9-11. This new release comes just days after Pakistan's president, Gen. Pervez Musharraf, acknowledged that, "There is no doubt Afghan militants are supported from Pakistan soil." While Musharraf admitted the Taliban were being sheltered in the lawless frontier border regions, the declassified U.S. documents released today clearly illustrate that the Taliban was directly funded, armed and advised by Islamabad itself.

do you believe that there are good taliban and bad taliban?

@topic no doubt it is pakistan creation to have pakistan friendly govt. in afghanistan. But it should not come as a surprise.

It is not possible for any force to remain strong in Afghanistan without support of Afghans. No matter how much Pakistan interfers, no matter how much NATO interfers and no matter if every single nation on Earth were to support one group in Afghanistan, but if Afghans did not support them, then the whole world will have failed and will fail!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I am fed up of this Pakistan business. They are looking for their own interests, that is natural. India looks for its own interest and so on. Tell me one country on this Earth who doesnt look at their own interests??? But its the job of Afghans to not let anything happen, by being united and to think what benefits them. Pakistan is a neighbour and you cannot disregard them. Yes you make your stance clear, but you cannot cut off from them or Iran.

Now NATO is kinda the whole world, but they didnt defeat Taliban. How come? NATO has money, NATO has power and a million times more than Pakistan or ISI has. Yet it couldnt create a force stronger than taliban? WE hear Pakistan created Taliban and they are monsters that are so strong, coz ISI is so great. Just because they got support from ISI doesnt mean they have become a strong force because of them or superpowers so strong to defeat NATO.

It is because of peoples support and that is worth more than the whole world combined. Not to forget Allah is the ultimate superpower as well, he helps those he wants.

Dawezai, those are some very authoritative sources. You must be very proud of yourself for sharing them with us. I guess we are left with no other choice but to believe what ever you say from now on.

bad taliban=mehsud taliban and raw agents

                real talibs fight american army

fake talibs fight fellow muslims of pak army and force americans to attack pakistan

pakistan always supports taliban of afghanistan but some hindu/zionist jew elements wanted america to attack afghanistan and invade to drag pakistan into conflict

however real muslim never forget friendship and i know afghan taliban love pakistan

Who are they then? And why do they want the international peace keeping forces out of Afghanistan? Are they powerful than the Taliban? If they are weaker than the Taliban and agree with them only on kicking the international community out of Afghanistan then in case of that eventuality they are just strengthening the Taliban and will have to face Taliban's wrath once they are done with the international community. My point is that I am not denying Taliban's support but I am asking, who are their supporters? And for what reasons?

It doesnt even matter where they get their support from. Why are you beating up the wrong bush? What you should think about is how could any group be stronger than a group which has more resources, more power, more money and more support than them? By more support i mean international support.

I will support Dawezai stance. i believe till now that if Pakistans will is there, then it is the job of months to get rid of that monster.
I will ask the respected members who think that Pakistan is not behind the Afghan Taliban, That from where taliban get weapons?
                          Where is the Haqqani ueadquarter?
Where is the Mullah Omer head quarter?

After all how people from pakistan cross the border so easily even pakistan has depolyed 100,000 sodleirs on duranline.
I have heard from Pakistani amry soldeirs that they try their best to ease taliban to cross the border to fight NATO.
Then the propaganda Pakistan is doing supporting Afghan Taliban worth than anything else. Many of the international journalists just qoute pakistani media for the news, which means international community is publishing more or less same things which pakistan want to publish.
This all means a strong support.

Good or bad just base on who is against and in favour of Pakistan army.

Jasmine jan, thanx for ur kind information but Mullah headquarter was kandahar, but now quetta, where ISI officers are attending meetings as well, reported in media after interviewing Taliban leaders.

See BBC for drone attacks reports, where it is clearly mentioned, what international media is reporting.

Ya it is true now Pakistan is in tense situation but they are winning the game as a whole.
Pasha and Kiani frequent visits to Kabul are confirming this.
