  • Youth's Role and Participation in Government Post Elections

Nearly two-thirds of Afghans are under the age of 25, and many seem engaged, more enthusiastic, and more optimistic about the future. Both Afghan Presidential candidates have pledged to carve out more than half of the positions in their government for the younger generation. Recently, Afghanistan’s election commission reported that young people constituted a staggering 70 percent of provincial council candidates across the country; these young people appear to be more concerned with building the country's future. In this round of the elections most of the candidates and voters were youth and a good percentage of them have made their way to the provincial councils.
In your opinion: will youth work tirelessly to improve Afghan democracy and elect more effective and accountable leaders?
