KABUL — Some called him the “Messenger of Death.” During Afghanistan’s brutal civil war of the 1990s, Abdullah Abdullah became famous as the government official who periodically announced how many rebels had been slain. The casualties were often Pashtuns, members of Afghanistan’s largest ethnic group. The government was dominated by Tajiks, a smaller ethnic group. http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/...796_story.html

Lol---One should read and interpret this article in juxtaposition with the one titled time-bomb in the ballot box. This is typical Western style diplomatic and political pressure building on the man they have chosen to be the ruler of Afghanistan for the next 5 years.Originally posted by Bost Bastan News View PostKABUL — Some called him the “Messenger of Death.” During Afghanistan’s brutal civil war of the 1990s, Abdullah Abdullah became famous as the government official who periodically announced how many rebels had been slain. Because, the run-off will potentially delay the assumption of the president's office by Abdullah Abdullah and so also the signing of the BSA (which may be even delayed to Sept, Oct. and the forces exit date is Dec), so articles like this have started appearing in Western media to put pressure on Abdullah Abdullah to reach a power-compromise with Mr. Ashraf Ghani to avoid a difficult election run-off and thus delay in the signing of the BSF.
Lol---Abdullah Abdullah has been reminded his past and concerns of Pashtuns have also been highlighted slightly. This indicates the type of winds that might be blowing in Western diplomatic circle of Kabul these days and the diplomatic work that might be being carries out in Kabul(pressure both Abdullah Abdullah and Ghani to reach a power-compromise). In future, there may be other things out about Abdullah Abdullah's past should he deviate from the "right path".
