  • Pakis are in trouble.

The election of Modi should be scary for Pakis. Being a hardliner unlike Manmohan Singh under the Congress govt, he is going to teach a good lesson to Pakistan should it continue with its terrorist agenda in the region. Now it is time for India, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh to join hands to do something about the rogue state.

Mr. Modi as an Hindu nationalist can be a new chapter for the region. The higher the fear of India and western and eurasian states the higher their support for us to fight Daal-aggression and occupation.

      Nothing will happen.

      1. Indian strategic, defence and foreign affairs are decided by educated professionals, including the very professional Indian army (which unlike the Bangladeshi or Pakistani armies has never carried out a coup).

      2. India has no desire for a war against Pakistan and at the most will sponsor separatists (e.g. BLA) to bleed Pakistan and teach it a lesson.

      3. India's priority is economic growth. It regards Pakistan as a nuisance and an annoyance but its main focus is China whom it regards as a real competitor, this is why people like the Vietnamese ask India for military support and deployment of the Indian navy in their struggle with China.

Remember India is a BRIC state and sees itself as an Asian superpower and a major global power. It considers itself on a higher Pakistan to India and on a par with Russia and China in some ways.

India is not going to risk its economic development whilst Pakistan itself is imploding with terrorism, power shortage, killings and crisis. Pakistan is no threat to India as it cannot even secure its own country.

      4. Modi will become prime minister, but there was another BJP prime minister, Vajpayee and there was no war with Pakistan.

      5. Bangladesh does not care about Pakistan, in fact Bangladeshis in general are very ignorant about Pakistan. No Bangladeshi paper talks about the suffering of Baloch, Pashtuns or Sindhis. Bangladesh is focused on economic development and could care less about wasting time trying to hurt Pakistan.

That is Bangladesh as a state and society.

I myself however pay attention to Pakistan affairs.

      5. Afghan national government be it Ghani or Abdullah will be focused on peace and prosperity in Afghanistan and containing the insurgency there.

I am no expert and could be wrong, but I can present evidence to back my personal opinions.

Jammu, May 19 (IANS) A soldier was killed and two were injured in a guerrilla attack near the international border in Jammu and Kashmir Sunday, an official said Monday.

Two soldiers were injured Sunday in a landmine explosion in the Akhnoor area of the international border in the state. Sources said a patrol party had gone to evacuate the injured soldiers when it came under attack.

The patrol party was targeted by terrorists in Akhnoor area at 11 a.m. Sunday, Defence spokesman Col. Manish Mehta told IANS, adding Sepoy Bhikale was killed in this attack.
A high alert has been sounded in the area.

The army also foiled an infiltration bid on the Line of Control (LoC) in Bhimber Ghali area of the Poonch district Sunday when a group of guerrillas were prevented from sneaking into the Indian side.

An improvised explosive device (IED) left behind by the guerrillas was later destroyed.
Heightened tensions on the border between India and Pakistan have thrown the lives of thousands of civilians living close to the border out of gear.

A modicum of normalcy had returned after the signing of a bilateral ceasefire agreement in November 2003.

The agreement held well for some years, but last year frequent ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops both on the LoC and the international border in Jammu and Kashmir again heightened tensions between the two neighbours.

In 2014, the Pakistani Army has violated the ceasefire agreement seven times so far.

We also have frequently violated indian airspace from time to time.

India News: Pakistani military planes have violated Indian air space 23 times in the past three years including twice in last four months, defence minister A K An

In 1987 Zia ul Haq made a famous warning after Pakistan had got the Warhead capable to be delivered into the enemy zone,

Saying "If indian force's cross an inch into Pakistan,we will vopourize them" and since than no indian troop has ever crossed into Pakistani border apart from some aerial violation and rather they even stay 500m within their own territory.

Though of all this i see alot of development to happen b/w pak and india under nawaz and modi.Because both the govt in power are in favour of development.

Pakistani today mean All the ethnicities in Pakistan.

I do agree but fighting a enemy 10 times stronger and most important when your the one being offensive always speak for itself.

The govt might take them a threat but the army never,This is the reason you see we kill them so often on borders.

The Pakis misuse the good will of Indians knowing that India won´t risk a war even if it can win and destroy Pakistan. That´s why Pakis are so criminal. If you ask me. Just my two cents.

We're not scared, the whole world is concerned that a country with nukes has elected a man that murdered over 2000 people in just a few days as their Prime Minister; he's no threat to us, just a threat to Indian-Muslims and Kashmiris(he plans to repel Kashmir's 'special' status); even Sikhs and Christians do not like him because he's a Hindu nationalist and want' India to turn into a de facto Hindu state.

Hindu religion and Hindu people are by nature pacifistic and not aggressive expansionist like Muslims, Christians, etc. have been in history. So even as a Hindu nationalist and being more Hawkish than his predecessor Bahpayi, Modi will not provoke tensions with any neighbour including Pakistan although he will like others to accept and respect the role of India as a key player in regional and international affairs and India's stance about and sovereignty over Kashmir.

But if Pakistan's Punjabi establishment continued with its destabilizing agenda in Kashmir, east Punjab, and deeper within India through Islamist terrorist groups (Lashkar-i-Toiba, Hizbul Mujahideen, Jaish-i-Mohammad, etc. are active and are operating freely under the protection of the Punjabi establishment) , there would be a tit-for-tat response. And although, sometimes, no body wants war but situation escalates to war or war-like situation. For example If another Mumbai style attack occurred, the reaction from India under Modi would be harsher than it was under Manmohan or the previous rulers.

And true, Bangladeshi people might not be caring much about Pakistan but Pakistan's Punjabi establishment and intelligence agencies do care about Bangladesh and try to influence the internal politics of Bangladesh by sponsoring and supporting elements/groups and political parties, e.g., the rightest, Jumaath-i-Islami, Khalida Zia's party that are less friendly to India and more pro-Pakistan. Additionally, Bangladesh is a transit point for Pakistan-sponsored terrorists bound for India. In the hostile regional competition, Paki establishment does try to install regimes where it can (e.g., it tried in Afghanistan in 1990s) or influence neighbouring govt in an effort to form a broad anti-India regional block. In the case of Muslim countries, it uses the Islamic card; in the case of non-Muslim countries, it looks for other common grounds.

From Bangladesh and Afg the expectations are they would line themselves behind Pakistan as a Muslim leader and in its enmity with India.

One cannot rule out the possibility of some kind of cooperation between countries in the region to resist Pakistan's destabilizing agenda and its subversive foreign policy. There can be many forms of indirect (cold) wars e.g. on diplomatic front, in economic sphere, proxy wars (Karachi, Sindh, Baluchistan, Taleban, etc.). The BJP govt to some degree may use the containment policy about Pakistan by working closely with the states in the region that have tensions with Pakistan.

I would beg to differ with the bolded statement. Recall that around Alexander's era the Hindu power in the region was the Mauryan empire which was expansionist and went beyond traditional Indian boundaries.

That era was far close to the writings of the Vedas with purist interpretations by the priestly casts pursing the Vedic root of the descendent religions.

Gupta rule was instrumental in empowering that very priestly Hindu hierarchy.

Ashoka, whose tablets were found in Kandahar was a Brahmin and fought his most aggressive wars embracing that status until he converted to Buddhism.

The reason Modi will not provoke war has nothing to with whether he is a Hindu militant or not - which he is as an adherent to the concept of hindutva- rather it is that time honored concept of mutually assured destruction.... MAD was what truly gave us some semblance of peace in the cold war era.
