  • Can or Does Afghanistan have claims over Hindkowan Pashtun territory?

You know, Hazara Province. Hazarawel region where most people are racially Pashtun or ethnic Afghan but speak Hindko.

How can they be Pashtun when they speak another language? Its like claiming Panjabis or Chinese people are Pashtuns racially but speak Panjabi or Chinese. Why they are called ''Hazara''? Aren´t they Hazaras as well or Indianized Turks and Mongols?

Pashtuns in the north haven't lost their language, most of them still speak Pashto.

Hindko portion lie east of river indus and historically this region was administratively part of mughal empire. Mughal empire prevented colonization by pashtuns in this region and any region lying east of river indus. Forexample hazara was cleansed from dilazaks by mughals and yousafzai's attempts of capturing hazara, were dealt with force. Only with decline of mughal empire, pashtun tribes were able to penetrate into hindko region.

Ethnic group and language are two different things and that is the point. Your example lacks of reality-check. A large segment of Pashtuns in Kabul are no more Pashtuns. They identify themselves with Farsiwans. They are totally absorbed and assimilated. A segment of Pashtuns in the Uzbek regions are ''Uzbeks'' today. Language and culture people grow in give you your identity. This identity will become strenghtened when you become assimilated and absorbed. There are Pashtun tribes that are today linked with Balochs. There are some in southern Afghanistan that are linked with Brahuis. We do not live anymore 500years back when people haven´t moved much and had not that much contacts with neighbours. The Moqbel brothers or commander Almas (one of the Moqbel brothers is currently foreign minister, replaced Mr. Rasul and the other working for the parliament). Why do they claim being Tajiks when they are at least half Pashtuns??? You need to see Afghanistan from your own eyes. Have you ever seen any Indian who claimed being a Pashtun? Only they say they are from Afghanistan but ''ethnically'' they are already Indians. Wait for another 50years and see what those Hindkowans will be if they are really Pashtuns which I doubt. The 35years of war in Afghanistan and those ISI games in Pakistan in Pashtun regions forced Pashtuns to leave their regions and become weak. Our states are very young and this trend has just started. You live in Germany. You might know how easy it is to become a German and lose your language and culture in fvour of a non-Pashtun identity. The same can be said about originally non-Pashtun tribes that are today Pashtuns. There are still alot of Pashtuns in north and Kabul who speak Pashtu. Please don´t make up stories. In the north many Pashtun settlements are even isolated. In Baghlan or Kunduz many Pashtuns have their own regions where no non-Pashtun influence has penetrated them. No Dari, no Dari assimilaton, no intermarriage or sth like this.

My Pashto doesn't "suck." I grew up in the west therefore i'm not fluent in the language like my parents. Like Bost Bastan said there are regions in the north for pashtuns where they can still speak their language without any outside influence.

If you don't know anything about the matter then don't talk.

They are different then the Hazaras of Afghanistan and they are originally called Hazerwal but for short term they are called "Hazara." Also they are not mongol or turks, they are a dardic group who speak indo-aryan languages. Completely different people then hazaras of Afghanistan.

No, you won´t become a German just because of paper you get but you become German by adopting their customs and identity and if not you but your children. You just need to marry into a non-Pashtun German family. The same goes with those Uzbekized and Farsiwanized Pashtuns. They are 'ethnic' Farsiwans and Uzbeks today. You don´t know reality but it is even worse than what we are discussing here. USA is maybe the best example how people lose their identity. Look to Mr. Ghani´s kids. His daughter a naked wh***, his son married to a divorced another wh*** and none of them can speak the language of their father´s side. His daughter can even speak Arabic... but not a single word Pashtu. She is engaged with an Arab man. What will be her children? If you have a sister married to a Farsiwan than please tell me the relationship to Pashtu and Pashtun identity. You don´t even need to be married with a non-Pashtun. Most Pashtuns outside their traditional homelands have adoptet virtually a non-Pashtun identity and in the next 20 or 30years they will be fully non-Pashtuns. We can already feel this for Pakistani Pashtuns, specially those living outside Waziristan or Swat.

From the Hazarawals I know only the Tarkanis and they (even their name suggests) trace their origin to Turk people. If the remainders are originally Dard speakers than they can´t be Pashtuns. So not worth to talk about them or their lands. Every nation want to be free and have an own land.

I have Pakistani Pashtun boyz and girls raised in the west who have better Pashto than you! 99% of them think they're Pakistani, .5% think they're Just Pashtun and another .5% admits Pashtun means Afghan .

and BTW, the Pakistani Pashtuns i mentioned are upper class Swat people who oppress the lower class Pashtuns. They'll be punished by having their children turn into Punjabis without even marrying any Punjabi :P.
