The Independent Elections Commission (IEC) announced Thursday evening the third round of partial results with Abdullah Abdullah in the lead.

Head of IEC Ahmad Yousaf Nuristani revealed Abdullah leading with 43.8 percent, Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai trailing behind with 32.9 percent and Zalmai Rassoul still behind with 11.7 percent.

Today's partial result announcement consisted of 82.59 percent of votes nationwide.

Presidential candidate Abdul Rab Rassoul Sayyaf is in fourth with 7.0 percent, Qutbuddin Helal carrying 2.8 percent, Gul Agha Sherzai with 1.6 percent, Daoud Sultanzoy with 0.5 percent and Hedayat Amin Arsala in last with 0.2 percent.

Total votes for today's partial result was 5,857,442; roughly six million.

The breakdown of the votes is as follows: Abdullah with 2,564,284; Ghani with 1,928,153; Rassoul with 652,116; Sayyaf with 409,879; Helal with 165,567; Sherzai with 96,407; Sultanzoy with 27,312; and Arsala with 13,724 votes.

Nuristani said there are 1,719 polling sites that are still being investigated. He adds that it is too soon to determine whether a runoff will take place or not.

"We cannot comment whether the election will go into a runoff, but we are ready if it does," he said. "The delay with preliminary results will not affect the final outcome."

Nuristani also added, that more frauds were conducted by IEC staff and that they will be dealt with by the legal and judicial institutions.

Free and Fair Election Foundation of Afghanistan's Chairman, Nadir Nadiri, said that the audits of suspicious ballots should be performed before presidential candidates and observers.

Leading presidential candidate Abdullah Abdullah said in an interview with TOLOnews that he is waiting for the announcement of preliminary results.

He criticized the IEC and their reasoning behind delaying preliminary results saying, "Their reason behind it is not satisfactory."

"The remaining 17 percent will have a great impact on the final outcome of elections," Abdullah said.

This was IEC's third partial result announcement—today's release consisted of 82.59 percent of votes. Preliminary results are scheduled to be announced on Saturday April 26, 2014.

I bet Abdullah will join hands with Sayyaf-Ismael Khan. May be even with Zalmay Rassoul. Since Karzai supports Rassoul and they both are durranis (just like dr Abdullah) while Ghani is a ghilzai like most of pakistani pashtuns, durranis will never allow a ghilzai to become afghanistans president. So I think these guys will join hands (Abdullah+Sayyaf or Abdullah+Rassoul even may be all of them together Abdullah+Sayyaf+Rassoul).

    What do you think guys?

I think we will see a run-off, in which most likely Dr.Ghani will win.
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Don't you know anything about the rules dumbshyt. One can not give their votes to another candidate. If you don't reach the 50% mark on your own, there is an automatic runoff. In the runoff candidates can back and support one of the two runner ups. But it is still up to the people to decide if they are going listen or not.

Also paksitani Pashtun are mostly Karlanis and Ax2 is not a durrani. Your making stuff up like that idiot Bost.

I still stand on Salim saifi claim of "Abdullah Abdullah".

Though Ashraf Ghani seem more better for the future of Afghanistan.

But the opponents of Ghani can join hands in the elections for the runoff?

Najeeb was also Ghilzai(Ahmadzai) but ruled Afghanistan. This division within Pashtuns is not that sharp. Ahmad Shah Baba was recognized by all Pashtuns as their leader.
