I was born and raised up in Pakistan and Punjab, also I have a deep connection with Pashtuns of Pakistan (I am also a Pashtun and proud of it). Living and growing up in this country has taught me few things which are (Sadly) that everything is for sale in Pakistan from Khyber to Karachi and everything in between. Police, Army, Politicians, Mullah, Teachers, Judges, Doctors, and everyone else. Sadly, this is the case with most of the Muslim world but I am only talking about Pakistan at the moment.
Now in my opinion, if a Muslim (so to speak) blows up mosques, schools, churches etc etc and still can justify his actions to himself, there is something wrong with his brain (yes I am naïve). TTP would never honor their words, they have no knowledge of Islam, they do not want peace, and they are just a band of thugs/gangster/drug addicts on payroll of others to create mischief in the land. With the same token I also think that Pakistani government also need to stop standing in two boats at once and come up with a clear objective to deal with Taliban problem.
The problem with Pakistan is that it supports some Taliban and goes against few other (so they have a biased approach). Politicians are the most illiterate and corrupt people in the society who through some political maneuvering, bribes, and family system end up securing seats in strategic places and also appoint incompetent people such as themselves at strategic posts. However, these chooras (Low life's) have no IQs, Educations, Foresight, Personalities and any other skills required to sort the issue head on. Army (it self has malafide intentions) also provide safe heaven to Taliban's in FATA, and when drone and army action happens its a poor Pashtun that suffers.
I have the same opinion of Pashtuns politicians etc.
That said, what we have learnt from Americans is that if we want to win a war we have to win hearts and minds. Ironically, Americans have not been able to achieve that in Iraq and more so in Afghanistan (Where they have successfully alienated the Majority of the populations i.e Pashtuns).
I think if Pakistan really wants to take care of Taliban problem they have to abide by following recommendations (And follow two pronged strategy):
· Review foreign policy with America (American is not a good friend)
· Review Taliban Stance (If Pakistani or Afghani Taliban kill innocent people and call it Jihad, they should not be negotiated with)
· Declare war against TTP but they should also start buying mullahs. One thing constant in FATA is mullah sells (At least 95% of them), and ones that do not sell might have other vices (Pakistan should maintain laundry list on them,.. hell supply Natasha's, that would be much cheaper than war).
· By buying mullah the public opinion can be swayed, tell them that they are being paid through bait ul mal, that would satisfy their (mullahs) conscience.
· One pronged approach of just starting a war would only result in things spiraling out of control, the badal concept of Pashtunwali will come in the way of Pakistan’s objectives. Also rest of the world is just itching for a reason to support independent pashtunistan. If collateral damage rises, Pashtun being second largest ethnic group in Pakistan and having foreign support , can always ask for a separate homeland. Whether that is a good or bad thing is a separate discussion.
So I propose new slogan for Pakistani establishment, “Buy the Mullah”.
