over the last 60 years, of course there has been some interagrtion of cultures living in pakistan (mostly in cities) however Punjabi/Sindhi languages for example are still closer to Bengali then they are to Indo Iranian languages, also if you have been to rural punjab, you will see most people look more closer to bengalis then lets say to pashtun/baloch/dardic. Of course overall Punjab is different from Bengal, but both being Indic, there are still many similaritiesOriginally posted by Da Bannu Mazdigar View PostSo many smaller countries were not possible. And KPK and parts of balochistan didnt even tried to merge with Afghanistan because of the betrayal by Elite Afghans by the agreement of durrandline
Punjabis share similarities with Bengali?are you sure?
Today in Pakistan.Punjabi and Pashtun wear similar dress, they also have almost similar cuisine.Infact the cuisine today of all the pakistani ethnicities is almost 95% same.THe wedding ceremony are more than 100% similar with extremely small difference
WHile bengali people dress is different,Cuisine is not even close to anything related to pakistan and the language is also different and is not even written in arabic scripts
I believe if Pakistan was to be made,We should have demanded region closer to present Pakistan than bangladesh thousand miles awayLast edited by Karachi; 02-08-2014, 04:27 PM.

yes, however, I do wonder what was the sacrifice for? millions of people died, but for what? do you think even the founding fathers of Pakistan like (Iqbal) would have imagined a state like Pakistan today? He would have rejected the Idea immediately had he known it would turn out this way

I really doubt this theory of the name, still haven't found any credible source, why would they take B out for baluch anyways?

almost 70 years old is not young my friend. In fact Pakistan was in much better shape in the 1950's and 60's from what I have heard. Time frame does not decide country's fate. It is the people of a country and rulers who do. Pakistan is a failed state simply because of it's own people and rulers, which of course includes the army/ISI

Karachi: 70 years is quite young compared to most countries, this world 4.5 billion years old, so you can imagine how young Pakistan is, and just look at the problems plaguing this country, we need somebody like Ataturk + Lenin to clean this country up."If you're not ready to die for it, put the word 'freedom' out of your vocabulary." -Malcolm X

The idea behind two nations theory was that the hindu and muslim are two completely different nations, they are not compatible with each other....that desi muslims are meant to live with each other in a separate country.Originally posted by EvilPakistani View PostKarachi That is a dumb misconception, Paki-haters love to reiterate that "Pakistan ended the day East Pakistan seceded".
If the two nation theory failed there, then why didn't Bangladesh remerge with India?Because to this day Bangladesh is a nation for Bengali Muslims and West Bengal is for Bengali Hindus, without Pakistan there never would have been a Bangladesh.
Interestingly, the founding fathers of Pakistan never really envisioned East Bengal to join Pakistan, they just wanted the Northwest parts of India(Punjab,Sindh,Kashmir,KPK and Baluchistan), look at any of Iqbal's speeches, that's what he called for.
If you look at "Pakistan's" name, there is no 'b' in it, that represents Bengal, so we never expected that part.
And even if Bangladesh's creation invalidates the two nation theory, countries always evolve, and Pakistan is evolving as a nation and so is it's ideology, there doesn't have to be a bloody breakup just so we can 'undo' all the 'wrongs' in the past.
EDIT:Interestingly, Tarek Fatah claims Pakistan is an 'Anglo-American enterprise', yet he doesn't realize he's an Anglo-American agent.
In that sense two nation theory indeed sunk in gulf of bengal....bengalis realized that matlab of pakistan is not la ilaha ilalah but punjabistan.
And let me correct you, your iqbal didnt mention kashmir in round table conference of 1930....kashmir was a royal state, not a province.History of Pashtuns

Pakistan did not appear from scratch 70 years ago, it inherited state institutions from British India and at its beginning could of rode a wave of Islamic nationalism that would of inspired the Muslim world but that was squandered quickly.Originally posted by EvilPakistani View PostKarachi: 70 years is quite young compared to most countries, this world 4.5 billion years old, so you can imagine how young Pakistan is, and just look at the problems plaguing this country, we need somebody like Ataturk + Lenin to clean this country up.Last edited by randolph85; 02-09-2014, 01:33 AM.There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

Pakistan should had never been renamed as Islamic Republic. That was the biggest mistake
Pakistan should be again renamed as "State of Pakistan" as it was until 1956.And everyone should have the right of being made PM or president of Pakistan irrespective of his religion.
Whether he's hindu or christian or atheist.he should have the right to be made PM/president of Pakistan
Make it a secular republic. And mark my words in the next 70 years,we will see a completely different pakistan with no extremism at all"Seer Speen Wazeer"

As for Kashmiris, the people of Kashmir were being oppressed by the Dogras and they didn't want to stay under their rule, and so what if Kashmir was a "princely state", so was Bahawalpur."If you're not ready to die for it, put the word 'freedom' out of your vocabulary." -Malcolm X

you mean 1958, in 1958 Rawalpindi was named the capital. also wasn't Yahya Khan born in Chakwal?Originally posted by EvilPakistani View PostBengal was destined to fall no matter how many rights they could get, no matter how good the economy and governance was, they were just too far away(1600kms), even Bahrain is closer and they also had a significant Hindu minority that played a role in separatism and as for the whole "Punjabistan myth", East Pakistan fell because of Bhutto,Ayub Khan and Yahya Khan(neither of em were Punjabis) and the capital was in Karachi until '69, obviously the Punjabis do dominate sectors of the government and business because they're the majority and the majority in ever country is more dominant, whether it be the whites in America,Pashtuns in Afghanistan,English in Britain or the Castilians in Spain, that's just how majoritarianism works, unfortunately.

Then what is the difference between Pakistan and India? At that point, if you make Pakistan a secular state, then why not reunite back with India? I think slowly, but surely, you'd realize that Pakistan was a British invention to further divide and rule the populace.Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.
A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai
For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."
The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!
-Ferishta, 1560–1620
