We can say the same about Afghanistan. I do care about afghanistan the reason being the people there are afghans=pukhtoons, and above all humans and are my blood. regardless of where they are from. We people of swat expect the same support from other pakhthoons, if you say this how can i say you are any better than muhajirs of karachi?Originally posted by Amir al Ghaznavi View Posti dont particularly care for Swat. They made the decision to put their fate in the hands of Pakistan. They ran to the Taliban. They entrusted the Pakistani army.
Khpal zan di taba kra.
Also I am sure not all afghans are like you or think as you do.We never really grow up, we only learn how to act in public.
If I agree with you we w'd both be wrong.

It's commonly believed that the Pukhtuns of Swat brought on themselves the atrocities of the Taliban, since they initially supported the Taliban and even funded Mullah Fazlullah (I like to call him "Qaharullah" instead), but this is unfair thinking.Originally posted by eusuphxai View PostWe can say the same about Afghanistan. We should bear many things in mind about our people -- be it Pukhtuns in general or the Pukhtuns of Swat in particular. We're not among the world's most literate people on earth. Forget literacy -- even if we ARE literate, we're not all that well-educated. It takes excellent education that doesn't brainwash you to any particular ideology that you will learn to respect all of humanity and not be biased towards a particular sect, religion, race, people, culture, etc.
One of our major problems is that we love and follow Islam blindly. Mullah Fazlullah promised he'll bring the "correct" Islam to Swat, and we totally fell for it.
But he was VERY smart, smart in that he didn't say things like, "I will use violence, I'll force you to stop sending your daughters to school, I'll kill you if you don't grow your beard," etc. Had he done this in the very beginning, NO one would've supported him. But he didn't say this. Instead, he said he needed our money and support and help in many ways to create more mosques throughout Swat and to get his own radio station so that he can preach to us on it.
And we, not being aware of the history and story of the Taliban in Afghanistan, were all excited and grateful.
You must remember, Eusuphxai, that our females donated him ALL their jewelry and other accessories, whether they were poor or rich, just to show that they really appreciated what he was doing for Islam! Mind you, many of these girls were illiterate to begin with. I know of females here from Swat who, newly weds, say they gave him their jewelries -- and those girls are also illiterate. (One of them has memorized the Quran.)
So, my point is, we really can't be blamed for having supported Mullah Fazlullah when he was a very cunning man and knew exactly how to mold our minds. He knew and knows us well enough; he knew/knows what we're like, what we love, what we hate, what we want, and what we're likely to support with all our hearts. As Bacha Khan said about Pukhtuns, "The Pashtun will go with you to hell if you can win his heart, but you cannot force him even to go to heaven." And knowing this, Fazlullah fooled us in all conceivable ways.
It was much later that Pashtuns noticed that he was doing to us, when he started announcing that females must stop going to school and everyone must burn their TVs and photos and all that stuff. Only at this point did we realize what a dreadful mistake we'd made.
So whenever people say that we the people of Swat deserved what we go or brought it upon ourselves, they need to realize that there's much more to the story than just "The Pukhtuns of Swat supported the Taliban in the beginning." You need to understand WHY we supported them as well.
One other important point to keep in mind is that ... not all Pukhtuns were aware of the Taliabn atrocities in Afghanistan. It's not like everyone in Swat has a TV or other medium through which to become aware of what's going on in even in the next district, let alone our neighboring country! I remember some years ago, my sisters and I were telling our mother about some things that an Afghan friend from Afghanistan had told us about the Taliban (her family came to the U.S. as refugees), and my mom was like, "Nooo! That's not true! The Taliban would NEVER do that!" And we were like, "Mom, this girl has seen it, she's been through it, and we haven't; how can we say this is not true?" She woudln't believe any of it.
She believed ALL of it and much more only after she went to Swat during the peak time of the Taliban reign. And then she said, "Toba me da, toba me da - your friend was right! The Taliabn are beasts!"
So, yeah, we should also not be accused of not having learned from our past mistakes or the mistakes of our people in Afghanistan, since we didn't know about them. A select few may have, but certainly not most of us.

thanx for posting, do you know how this happened to him,? when your powerful islamic army was asked to cooperate and solve the problems, your brave army reply was that it doesnot wish to be involved between rival groups, when pir samiullah started to gain support of local people, it was scariest moment of your graet army and supported the taliban in killing of pir samiullah.Originally posted by Luffy View PostMINGORA: Militants publicly hang body of opponent
By Our Correspondent
MINGORA, Dec 15: The Swat Taliban publicly hung the body of Pir Samiullah and executed his two key commanders at the Gwalerai Chowk in the restive Swat valley on Monday.
The militants exhumed the body of Pir Samiullah from his native town Charma, a hilly area, on Sunday to confirm his death. They hung it at the Gwalerai Chowk in the Matta tehsil. The body was later shifted to an unspecified place.
Taliban spokesman Muslim Khan said two of Pir Samiullah’s key commanders were also executed at the chowk. “Forty of the hostages were forgiven and would be freed tomorrow (Tuesday), while the fate of the rest would be decided after the Taliban Shura meeting,” he said.
Pir Samiullah and his eight followers had been killed after fierce gun battle with militants in the Swat valley on Sunday.
The fresh fighting erupted after what the Taliban called a hand grenade attack on the house of a local Taliban commander by the Pir’s men.
Pir Samiullah was a staunch opponent of Taliban activities and was the first notable who had formed a tribal lashkar to flush militants out of the region.
The militants also torched the house and hujra of Pir Samiullah after occupying the Mandal Dag area. They also set on fire the houses of 15 elders of the area who were active supporters of the Pir. The search operation by the Taliban continued in Mandal Dag and its surrounding areas on Monday, sources said, adding that most of Pir’s supporters had gone underground. The Taliban, they said, had now taken control of about 80 per cent of Swat and the government’s writ had reduced only to Mingora and its surroundings.
Differences between the Taliban and Pir Samiullah emerged after militants made a failed attempt to kidnap the religious and spiritual figure, who had his own circle of followers and admirers in the region. Several people were killed from both sides in the clash about two months ago.
Local people said Pir Samiullah was the only potential rival of Maulana Fazlullah. The Pir had succeeded in his efforts to gather elders of the region to establish a lashkar to resist the Taliban movement.
