The sikhs conquered peshawar with sikh soldiers but they were armed and funded by the british who had a long standing alliance with the sikhs around this time including there war against the Rohilla pashtun kingdom of north india which was conquered by a combined British and Sikh army.

In fairness however the sikh conquest of peshawar is similar to the british conquest of Kabul. pashtuns are not a majority in peshawar as the city is actually an hindko city not a pashtun city contrary to popular belief, until about 10 years ago pashtuns from actual pashtuns areas were ashamed of even telling there fellow villagers that they had been living in Peshawar for any period of time.

Therefore its fair I believe to say that the sikhs conquered pashtun territory but not the Pashtuns, I back up this statement by what happened next, the sikhs were intoxicated by there victory over pashtuns at that time so they decided to march on Mardan and the Khyber agency. There armies were downright repelled by the afridi tribes in the tribal areas and they managed to conquer parts of mardan but only because the yusufzai had organized an strategic withdrawal of villagers from those areas in order to minimize civilian casualties. subsequently an army was sent from Malakand and Mardan which pushed the sikhs back to peshawar. In my opinion the only reason the Yusufzai did not conquer peshawar was because they had no claim over its land and neither did they want to claim it as it was not agricultural land and anyone familiar with the Yusufzai will know that even till today they are a very agricultural people. The sikhs after this only ruled over peshawar and everything east of it, this also defined the extent of british influence in The NWFP during their administration of that area.

I hope this answers your question.

could you provide any evidence that the british helped the Sikhs
cause Sikhs claim the british never provided help considering both sides didn't trust each other and eventually ended up going to war in 1845

Sikhs claim those territories were conquered by the Sikhs then after the two Sikh anglo wars the british took over those territories then handed it to Pakistan in 1947

Im searching around every were but can't find any thing about british Sikhs working together

only thing I can find is they didn't trust each other

No, the Sikhs didn't rule all over KPK or FATA, although there are Sikhs in Afghanistan but the Sikhs only ruled over Peshawar and the Hazara district for a brief time and then they lost that land shortly afterwards to the British.

The only reason why the Sikhs managed to annex Peshawar,Hazara,Kashmir and West Punjab is because they had many European commanders in their army, they also had modern weapons and modern maps, so they had an edge over the others in South Asia, however they ended up losing to the British.

The Sikhs no longer have their own country.

I think the British did favor the Sikhs over Muslims, in fact the British Indian army was made up mostly of Punjabi Sikhs and Punjabi Muslims, today the majority of Indian soldiers are Sikhs even though they make up around 2% of their population, the only reasons why Punjabis had a large presence in the military is because they already made a large portion of the British Indian military.

that is true the Sikhs did hire 5 to 6 of napoleons old soldiers to train the Sikhs in European combat to prepare for the british
ive found that on the internet that the british and Sikhs didn't trust each other and this is what led the Sikhs to but a bunch of weapons from france and hire couple of napoleans old soldiers to train the Sikhs on European warfare and how to use European weapons in case the british attacked

british did favour the Sikhs over the muslims but that was cause muslims made majority in Punjab
that is how colonial rule works the ruler favours the minorities and treats them well and recruits them into the army to rule over the majority
british treats the muslims like garbage and would treat the Sikhs well to encourage Sikhs to sign up for military service and to gain loyalty for the british
take example how Mughals favored certain Pashtun tribes offered them weapons and training to conquere the rest of the Pashtun tribes and ruled them for the Mughals

evil Pakistani I think Waziristan was also conquered by the Sikhs http://waziristanhills.com/Home/Hist...B/Default.aspx

everything on google leads to articles of Sikhs ruling the north west frontier province or ancient Khyber pakhtunkhwa and handing over control to the british after Sikh anglo wars

                This is just the propaganda.
The Sick never rule the entire pashtunkhwa.
They got control over peshwar cus of westren support and even there they hired local khans to rule.
For example they never had the courage to touch down on our area gadoon.
Even there they hire khanan of other area but along with their pupets we not only defeat them but chase them to accross the indus river .
Thats the reason many of our tribes men settled in hazara.
                In hazara region
Sardar sakhi jan was the hero and leader of jadoon. He not only badly defeated the sick but run them away to haripore.
The local gujar of hazara region called sakhi jan the buthcher cus he slaughtered so many Sicks and brought their head.Later he died.
In the mandarn-yousufzai land of amazai, chamla and khadokhail the Sick never been there. The local tribesmen defeated them in ambela.
Sicks are liers and wants to creat their own history.
The Sicks are known as the slave nation.
                They serve mugals,pashtuns and britishes.
Did,nt duranis defeated them in punjab?
sick rule waziristan of my god.white lie.

                      you asked the question:
what evidence is there that the sikhs conquered anything but peshawar
=don't give me anything from Wikipedia, anything from british sources, these are all secondary sources and were all written after the events took place and were all full of postulations these early postulations served as facts for more recent works by the same people
= A primary source is someone who lived at that time.
=my fathers family is mandarn-yousufzai, I heard from my grandfather who heard from his grandfather(my great great grandfather) that when the sikhs invaded peshawar the people were upset as peshawar was conquered and it was muslim however the people were still not concerned enough to fight the sikhs as peshawar seemed far away and at that time few if any people had family in peshawar. The sikhs then tried to invade mardan they thought that if they could take peshawar they could also take mardan but in mardan live pashtun and in peshawar live kharey and hindko people. The yusufzai have always been extremely organized at warfare unlike most of our brethren pashtun(no offense intended) we don't charge into war, we plan, then we attack. Parts of mardan were invaded and parts were evacuated to further draw the sikhs towards malakand, an army was raised at the foot of the mountain and it marched towards the sikh held parts of mardan there the sikh army was routed and what was left fled to peshawar and never troubled us again in all the years of there rule over peshawar and there imaginary rule over the pashtuns of NWFP.
=As an aside how can you possibly expect sikhs an almost unknown of race if it weren't for the british promotion of them, to be ever capable of conquering the Yusufzai and the afridi. The reason I say this is not out of pride but Alexander himself fought these exact same two tribes the Isapzoi and the Apridaii and he was unable to defeat them unless you're saying the sikhs had better armies then Alexander and better tactics, which you don't, sikh armies have been killed by yusufzai armies historically in some of the most hilarious ways-there was that time the yusufzai reversed the horseshoes on there horses, left a very clear track for the sikhs to follow an army of several thousand sikhs up and followed it the yusufzai leisurely came up behind them with an army less than half there size and killed every last one of them. My point is the sikhs are not known for there military genius, no half way reasonable officer let alone general would take his entire army in pursuit of suspiciously publicly placed tracks without first scouting ahead.
=finally if you mean you conquered parts of the hazara region of NWFP, then yes you did and no they aren't pashtun, but the same people who make up nowshera and peshawar, pashtuns in pakistan only live in FATA and everything above peshawar and to the west of the swat river roughly speaking. So if you are making this claim on that misunderstanding then I'd advise you to move to the Hindko forums if there is one and gloat about this over there.

If you're sikh you'd do well to stop competing with pashtuns for prestige and every other attribute to our name-make your own history not a brief 15-20 year rule over non pashtuns in peshawar while being defeated by pashtuns outright in the pashtun lands of Khyber and Mardan.
Pashtuns ruled india for over 800 years directly and indirectly that is no comparison to 20 years over an honorary pashtun city of non-pashtun inhabitants.

If you're pashtun then dont believe everything the british and americans feed you about youre history almost all the books about pashtuns are written by british people or people hired by british patrons such alleged books of history written after the 1700s by a people who never knew we existed before then. The adaucity of it is almost laughable except for the fact that its so effective. Believe the history told by you're own elders its at least as accurate as the british and propabaly more accurate as European fabrications of our history are actually based on our real history to begin with i.e. that known by our own people. If youre pashtun you wont ask me about this again because youll have contented yourself with whatever response youre elders give you if you aren't pashtun or have no elders then by definition you aren't pashtun and so I am not interested in arguing with sikhs, you aren't worth my time no disrespect intended(there's just a hierarchy to these things).

Btw if the latter is true ill be really pissed i wasted all this time on you cus i thought I was educating a pashtun on his history.

Well SIkh's were or infact all the punjabis were the closest puppets of british empire in the subcontinent.hence it was more of an british invasion with the help of sikh than sikh themselves

I'm not sure about the conquering of areas but the british puppet traitor shah shujah who sold out Afghanistan and gave the koh i noor diamond to ranjit Singh was the one fighting with his durrani brother for power. Shah Shujah told Ranjit Singh that peshawar would be his if they help him take power of Afghanistan. Wazir Akbar Khan killed the sikh hari singh but he was unsucessful recovering peshawar back.

THe western limit of Sikh rule was upto Jamrud , Jamrud fort was built by Sikhs there in 1836 , Sikhs were fighting British on eastern Side . Sikhs were defeated in Anglo Sikh Wars in 1850 after the death of Ranjit Singh .After the end of Sikh empire ,large number of Sikhs joined British Army .

Peshawer was ruled briefly from 1834 to 1849 by sikhs. Unlike british they didnt establish their administration on rural areas surrounding the city. They used to send large armies on annual basis to extract taxes from various areas of KPK, and in most of the cases they had to fight with tribes to collect taxes from them, peshawer and hazara were useless for sikhs in terms of taxation but they hold onto it as it was matter of prestige and sense of achievement. Moreover it should be noted that they treated kashmiris were harshly, they banned azaan , qurbani etc there but were unable to do so in peshawer and surrounding areas, pashtuns were too tough tough for them.
I was reading sikh history and they themeselves have written that it took six months for hari singh nalwa to occupy srikot village of mashwani tribe of pashtuns (it is located in hazara) and that hari singh lost almost his life in it. Mashawanis, jadoons and other pashtun tribes of hazaras continued resisting sikhs till the end of their rule while there is no recorded history of any hindkowan resisting sikh occupation. Even in punjab the toughest resistance was offered by afghan colony of kasur, it took years for ranjeet singh to finally conquer it after successive invasions...check sikh websites, kasur is very important topic, so is multan and mankera where durranis offered very tough wars. Rest of punjab, i.e punjabi muslims surrendered without fight.
