There are converging and diverging points. I agree with Toramana, for example, in many issues but I do not blame Tajiks, Punjabis, ISI, CIA, US etc for the dilapidated conditions of Pashtuns . I request for reformation, introspection and self-critical of Pashtuns themselves. If Pashtuns are strong , no one can harm them. They let others to play with them. The home should be made strong so the thief does not enter, not to blame the thief always.

I agree with Loy Afghanistan in almost everywhere. However we can have differences in the modus operandi but on the issue of Pashtun nationalism and unity we are one. My recipe is secularism and more and more Pashtunwali to push the Mullah back to mosque. I do not want any religious role for Pashtuns except the beliefs, worship and morality.

Pashtuns are one if they speak/use Pashto and practice some aspects of Pashtunwali. We are one by nature. All Pashtuns are like cousins, like one extended family. Amongst brothers there can be difference of opinion but they are one. Every Pashtun even a Talib has one thing in common and that is their pride to be Pashtun and this is called Pashtun nationalism.

If Ayesha can fight against Ali, if there are can be Shias, sunnis, wahabis, salafis, ahle hadith, hanafis, shafyees, malikiks, hanbalis, jafaris, ismailis, zaidis, deobandis, sufis, brelvis, tableeghis, jamatis, ikhwans, mutazilis, asharis and so many others so how can there will be no differences in 70 millions of Pashtuns.

You are more than 100% right. Religious extremists, Islamists, fundamentalists, Tableeghis etc are highly organized because of the sentiment of religion and extremism. This is one of the reason US is failing of not supporting nationalists and secularists in an organized way.

Nationalists and secularists are mostly educated, moderate,rational , professional people who are more involved in day today practical things of life in lieu of focusing on religious stuff to prepare for the grave and heavens. This is one of the reason nationalists and secularists are not organized like Islamists or Tableeghis.

The same happens with general Muslims who are not organized but practice religion silently and are not members of any religious group or organization. All Muslims are not organized the way extremists or Tableeghis are organized.

Political parties like Afghan Mellat, ANP, PMAP etc can be termed as platforms for Pashtun nationalists and secularists but there sometimes power and politics take place of ideology. Internet forums and social networks like PF can serve the purpose to make the efforts of nationalists and secularists more systematic, effective and productive.

Europe has gone through these stages when once Church was very organized and powerful but now we see only its ruins. The same Reformation and renaissance will happen soon in Muslims' world.

Knowledge is power, BUT IT IS constantly renewed, and those who control knowledge controls humans who read and believe in them. I totally agree with this point of RTR that fault lies with Pashtuns not mainly with others. However what Pashtuns did in past was not unique for Pashtuns. Every body was plunderer, ignorant, barbaric and power hungry including Arabs, Iranians and Turks.
