I've only seen Pashtun ethno facists say that Pashtun and Afghan are equal. Maybe they are true. We should therefore call non Pashtuns: Afghanistanis.

Afghanistani is property of Afghanistan. None Pashtuns aren't property, but equal citizens. Therefore it only logical for them to be called Afghans. We need to create central unity amongst all Afghans, not further divide them.

So what is it? Are you saying Pashtun = Afghan, and Afghan = Pashtun?

In that case, there is no reason for a Tajik to call himself Afghan. We can go even further, and say that there is no reason for him to be part of "Afghan"-istan. He may declare himself autonomous, along with other minorities.

I don't want that to happen. In a divided country like ours, we need unity.

What he is trying to say, is that Afghans shouldn't have problems in referring to themselves as Afghans regardless of ethnicity. They shouldn't wait for others to call them Afghans. They themselves should know they are Afghans and protect that statement regardless of what others say, basically your identity shouldn't be influenced by some random people online and in real life. One should proudly identify themselves as Afghans and protect that statement.

There is everything wrong with writing your ethnicity in tazkira, this is against national unity, people will think in ethnicities instead of making one national indentity. You farsibans should stop this racism and you supiriority complex, you are not better than any one in Afghanistan.

If you can make USA as a model then you have to forget that you are Pashtun, Tajik, Uzbek, Hazara, Baloch, Aymaq, Arab, Turkmen, Pameeris, Nooristanis, Gujars,Barahwis, Qazalbash, and Pashaais.

All these ethnic groups are mentioned in the national anthem of Afghanistan.

You have to decide whether you are Afghan(Afghanistani) or Pashtun otherwise you cannot resemble the US citizens because they forgot that they were once Germans, English, French, Spanish, Africans and others. Now they are only Americans.

From political point of view this will be very good to forget all these ethnicities and cultures and just become one nation, one language and one culture. But anthropologically and culturally it will tantamount to the death of many cultures, traditions and languages.

Especially Pashto will be totally dead because Afghanistan is the only country where it can have a future. Persian, Uzbeki, Turkmen have other countries but Pashto will be orphan without Afghanistan.

You are mixing different things up. First of all I do not wish to copy Americans, but simply gave an example which you denied.

When that is said, I want a clearly and logical explanation on how in the world Pashto language, culture, traditions etc will be lost by not writing the ethnicity in documents...

Kinda excited to see your explanation, since it is first time I ever heard that someones identity will be lost by not writing ethnicity in documents...

In American passport they do not write their ethnicity(race) as German, English, Spanish etc but the document represent only nationality(American).

I am referring to USA as an example where the people lost their ethnic background and emerged a political nation not based on racial or ethnic identity. The same happened in many Latin American countries and British colonies like Australia even India.

In any document no where in the world ethnicity or religion is written except Pakistan or Afghanistan(may be few others) because world does not discriminate you by your religion or race. You are identified by your nationality only. So there is no need of writing your race or religion on documents.

I never said that by writing your ethnicity or religion these will be promoted or otherwise. I said that if we become like Americans then all different cultures and languages will be lost and only one culture and language will prevail. I am against writing race and religion in documents but in favor of preserving these identities otherwise.

you must have never been to AFG.

i havent seen a single person refer to himself as tajik.
you are just another moron on the internet and not to forget being an atheist you have nothing in common with tajiks or AFG.
I dont dispute that. Most ethnocentrism is usually based out of the diaspora.

But any educated, culturally aware non Pashtun will never call himself Afghan

                          Afghan=Pashtun

Afghanistan doesnt make sense as a name, this is no longer a Durranai monarchy where the minorities are subdued.

I am in favour of a neutral name like Ariana

And believe me sheerena, nothing makes me happier than not having commonalities with the likes of you

                              here is an educated tajik
SEDIQ AFGHAN , he even made it his surname.

Its actually the uneducated and delusional people who promote such hatefilled ideas not educated people.

and the diaspora especiallyespecially the ones such as you have not much in common with Afghan people.
In Afghanistan people are united under their religion and Afghanistan since you dont belong to that religion and dont respect Afghanistan you are having an identity crisis. you are just looking for something to get a hold of and also in the process try to cause disunity among people of the nation.

btw change your profile picture as it isnt what you represent.
It has Shahada (Islmic) written on the top and Afghanistan in the bottom.

If he was a true Afghan like you claim, then why does he have a picture of Rumi behind him? Rumi was not Afghan but persian and most tajiks love to spread Persian Nationalism. Some of them see Pashtuns as inferior because we don't speak farsi and are racist to other ethnic groups in Afghanistan. Now in reality Tajiks love to differ away from this "Afghan" name since they believe is only for Pashtuns and call as "Aughwans" I had an argument with one before and he claimed to be a Khorosani and not afghan.

You really need to wake up from this khob that Pashtuns and tajiks get along with each other in Afghanistan because clearly today, they don't. It's not all flowers and rainbows there, Ethnic hatred is worst in Afghanistan then any other country today in the world.
