opium cultivation must get regulated and the prouction must go very high.
it can be tranformed into a source of income comparable to oil for Saudis.

All Afghans need to do is turn it into morphine and serve the global market.

Its a known fact that opium production had dropped drastically when Taliban were rulling Afghanistan.... so what are you saying ? Also there are few countries whcih are allowed to produce and process opium.. and conveniently they are all western... since western countries are so "Responsable"..
What really drives me hazy is it me or are the others crazy

              its true
at the time of taliban the production was close to zero.
im talking abotu a future scenario where it can be regulated by a government for the sake of using it as a pain killer at time of surgical operations.

at the time of talibqan peopel were most likely using it for heroine as they do now ,which is a menace.

Exactly what I was thinking! If Pashtuns were smart they would turn opium into something productive and in result make some good dough of it. But the Americans know that's what Afghans will do and they don't want them to start making money of it, that's why they are in Afghanistan in the first place and have forced Pashtun farmers in the south to stop cultivating them. Allah has gifted Pashtuns with this natural resource to turn our country around but they aren't aware of it.

Opium is to Pashtuns just like oil is to Arabs!

The Taliban are the main producers today working closely with opium warlords and even securing their actions. Stop fooling yourself. Without opium they can“t stay alive. Islamabad reduced its funds to them since 2007

I think you didn't undertand what I said. Yes opium money can be earned really fast, but you can't claim that taliban has nothing to do with the current rise of opium, or that they do not get there money from it?

You either have to prove hardcore, solid proof or stop lying.

What is known about the Taliban is that they are not executing drug dealers in some areas, because of lack of authority in the areas. Or they aren't doing it because of the hukm that the hudood (penal law) should not be established in a state of war.

Poppy war can only be won by the Taliban - Comment - Voices - The Independent

                              even westerners realize the truth.

and a fun fact for those talking about using opium to make morphine, however Afghanistan is too irresponsible for an idea like that

In April 1957 (while Afghanistan was still under a monarchy), the government of King Zahir wrote a letter to the UN with a request to be recognised as an opium exporting nation at the twentieth session of the Economic and Social Council. This was a follow up to an earlier request the previous year. At the time, the British Empire was among the largest players on the opium market suppliers and Afghanistan wished to be given legal autonomy in capitalising on the drug which grew on its soil. The CIA noted that as early as 1955 Afghanistan had been making its aspirations known to the UN for permission to sell 40 tons of opium. The CIA believed this was an overestimate of what it could produce and merely being put for bargaining purposes. Iran (then under the Shah) was Afghanistan's closest regional rival in the opium world market supply and objected to the Afghan request. However, the eleventh session of the UN assembly were in favour of accepting the Afghan claim, but due to the Iranian delegation at the UN, the matter was referred to the Commission of Opium an Narcotics for discussion. The Iranian monarchy had benefitted from the sale and export of opium since the sudden reduction of opium exports from [the independence of] British India in 1947. Iran was earning 'too much money' from selling the product directly to its former colonial markets in South-east Asia, both legally and illegally. Iran then turned to the UK for assistance in stalling the UN of the Afghan claim. The Iranian government approached John Russell, a senior diplomat at the British Embassy in Tehran, on this matter and he later said, we 'of course realise that there is nothing the UN or anybody else can do to stop the Afghans growing the stuff if they want to'.
