  • Munawar Hassan insulted soldiers, martyrs: ISPR

ISLAMABAD: A spokesman of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Sunday strongly condemned the irresponsible and misleading remarks by the Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Ameer Syed Munawar Hassan in a TV programme, declaring dead terrorists as Shuhada (martyrs), while insulting the Shahadat (martyrdom) of thousands of innocent Pakistanis and soldiers of Pakistan’s armed forces.

In a statement, he said Syed Munawar Hassan tried to invent a logic based on his political convenience. “Strong condemnation of his views from an overwhelming majority leaves no doubt in anyone’s mind that all of us are very clear on what the state of Pakistan is and who its enemies are,” the spokesman said.

“Sacrifices of our Shuhada and their families need no endorsement from Syed Munawar Hassan and such misguided and self-serving statements deserve no comments,” he said and added, “However, coming from the Ameer of the Jamaat-i-Islami, a party founded by Maulana Maududi, who is respected and revered for his services to Islam, is both painful and unfortunate.”

“The people of Pakistan, whose loved ones laid down their lives while fighting the terrorists, and families of Shuhada of armed forces demand an unconditional apology from Syed Munawar Hassan for hurting their feelings,” he said.

“The Jamaat-i-Islami should clearly state its party position on the subject”, the spokesman said. — APPNews Desk adds: Talking to Geo News, the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman lauded Munawar Hasan’s statement, stating that it reflected the teachings of Maulana Maududi. The spokesman, however, said JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman’s statement did not deserve any comment.

It may be mentioned that in the Geo News programme ‘Jirga’, the Jamaat-e-Islami chief had questioned the martyrdom of Pakistani soldiers. He had asked the programme host if an American fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan was not a martyr, how could those helping the Americans be called martyrs.

I am not a fan of JI, but at least this guy spoke the truth. How can the Pakistan army be called Shaheed? they are not even a muslim army, they are serving western interests killing their own people. More religious people in Pakistan need to speak the truth and open the eyes of a brainwashed public

Yes he spoke the truth but ANP and MQM is so angry over this. ANP says there should be band on JI and a case of treason against munawwar hassan because he has insulted pak army.
Imagine today ANP is super supporter of pak army and isi and cant tolerate a single word against them.

he should have not said so.Majority of the Kills of Pa soldier by TTP are pashtuns including from my tribe wazir.

Majority of the troops deployed in FATA are Pashtuns.

Though the response of ISPR is pathetic.and i support JI recent statement as Army should never interfere in the political matters

anti Pakistan?Well no,Not even the TTP is anti Pakistan but rather Anti Army

Have you ever heard of them being opposed to the existance of Pakistan like the Baloch militants?

Yes my Family is also extremely anti Pak army. And so does every in Bannu ever since the operation in bannu in 2009 when many innocent were killed by them just because of being suspected.

Wazir's By general are not anti Pak,But are anti PAK ARMY

But changing extremely Fast.Being from FATA is like a free ticket to get into Pak army.

To be a Punjabi you need 60% atleast to even apply for the army test

But to be a pashtun from FATA and even F.R regions of Bannu you only need 50-55% in FSc

I had done my Fsc in Dera ismail Khan,Most of my friend whom applied for Army recruitment drive they didnt made it to.

100% of my non pashtun were rejected
2 of my friends Got selected(Adnan mehsud(Mehsud from South waziristan) and Sinan Durrani(banusi from bannu).I can even pass of their Facebook profile(Sinin though i guess deleted his profile)

So the reason i mentioned above is that even their hate for the army is changing.Because army has set a priority to get them more preferrence over non pashtuns.

Umm no i am pretty sure that Waziri's are the only pashtuns in pakistan that are anti paki/punjabi to the core. There is not ONE pakistan flag flying Waziristan or in FATA in general. But you being from bannu which is in KPK, it makes sense that you blindly love Pakistan LOL.

Paki army soldiers who die are "murdar". They shouldn't be burried amongst Muslims in cemetary. They should be dumped along garbage.

How can you say this about so many people?

It's not the Generals that die.

It's the thousands of young men from various villages.

How can you question their Imaan?

                        Khurasani saab, please stop this.

my own relatives died fighting as soldiers for NATO. I don't pray for them because they died upon kufr. Thats just the way it is.

You remind me of the Muslim from the time of my grandfather.

I think I should be more like you.

Are you are hindu? no wonder you call everyone ''saab'', your hindu roots are stuck in your genes. I know it may surprise you, but Muslims don't have a caste system. So don't come to a Pashtunforum and practice your caste system. In every post you call people ''khan saab'' ''saab'' etc. I know caste system is common amongst Punjabis, but don't come around and practice your kafir system here.
Don't quote me or speak to me if you hate Afghanistan, you be ignored.

People with identity crisis will be ignored as well.
