We will block flow of Nato supplies through K-P: Imran Khan

    By Zehra Nabi
    Published: November 2, 2013

A visibly angry Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan insisted on Saturday that Friday’s drone strike that reportedly killed Pakistani Taliban chief Hakimullah Mehsud, had damaged peace talks, and that now their party will move to block Nato supplies through Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and introduce resolutions in the National, Sindh and Punjab assemblies to block the supplies.
Imran announced this at a press conference in Lahore after a core committee meeting of the PTI.
“The Taliban held only one condition for the peace talks and that was that drone attacks must end. But just before the talks began we saw this sabotage take place,” said the PTI chief, emphasising that the attack on Mehsud was part of a greater plot to derail the peace process in Pakistan.
Accompanied by K-P Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, and other senior PTI leaders, Imran explained that their decision to block Nato supplies in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa was well within legal means available. He said that the recourse of blocking supplies had been approved by the Peshawar High Court in their decision on drone strikes earlier in the year where it had called on the government to do all it can to stop the strikes, including approaching the United Nations on the issue.
“We will forward a resolution in the Sindh Assembly, where we have representation, to stop the flow of Nato supplies and will also raise the issue in the National Assembly,” he stated.
As for the Punjab Assembly, the issue will be raised by PTI’s Mehmood Rashid.
The entire nation – including the political parties – needs to unite to turn things around in the country, emphasised Imran.
“There should be no doubts left about who does not want peace in the country,” he said in the wake of the drone strike, while also sharing his suspicions about the real masterminds behind the recent attack on a church in Peshawar, for which the TTP denied any involvement.
Shortly after meeting with the media, the PTI issued a press release on its website stating: “We call for an immediate All Parties Conference which must support our decision of stopping NATO supplies, given the disruption of the dialogue process.”

These pakis are all talk. Remember gems like this?

"When I ask about drivers like Muhammed Baqi, the JuD leader is unequivocal: Nato supplies should not be transported through Pakistan whatever the circumstances.

"It is because of those supplies that Muslims in Afghanistan and Pakistan are dying, there is no compensation for that."

He says that if the Pakistani government allows the Nato trucks through, people will block the routes.

"We will lie down in front of the trucks and tell them to drive the containers over us if they want to."

He promises it will not be just his group's supporters, but thousands of others that will join them."

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-18105823

Coward pakis are always making tough talk and big claims but never follow through with actions.

Whenever the paki government was given a backdoor scolding by the US and afterwards handed some American dollars under the table to remind them of who calls the shots, the roads were always reopened and such threats from these loud mouth coward pakis were quietly and quickly forgotten about.

So where were the bodies of these thousands of pakis lying down on the roads to block the NATO supplied?

Utterly stupid, two faced, lying, pakis.

Can never trust or take seriously what a paki has to say about anything.

      KP is a Pashtun province.

Kayani is the barrier to ending the Pak support for US war. Nawaz has been Kayanis puppet. All these politicians including Zardari just did what Pak Army told them to do. They took the blame for unpopular decisions. IK does not do that.

I dont know why PTI needed a reason to block the NATO supply route when many people were expecting him to do it straight away with KP gov formation.

      Its better late then never.

Nato supply to be halted even at cost of KP govt: Imran
        our correspondent
        Sunday, November 03, 2013
        From Print Edition

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday declared that his party would block the Nato supplies at all costs, even at the price of ending the coalition government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Briefing the media about the decisions made a little earlier at the meeting of the PTI core committee, Imran said the PTI would never allow Nato supplies to pass through KP territories from now on, adding that the party would pass a resolution of blocking Nato supplies from the KP Assembly on Monday (tomorrow).

He said the PTI would soon summon an All Parties Conference (APC) to develop a national consensus on blocking Nato supplies and get the army out of the US war.

The meeting was participated by KP Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak and almost the entire central leadership, including Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Jahangir Tarin, Asad Umar, Hamid Khan, Khurshid Kasuri, Shireen Mazari, Shafqat Mehmood, Ijaz Chaudhry, Aleem Khan, Mehmoodur Rasheed, Ahsan Rasheed, Dr Arif Alvi, Fauzia Kasuri, Munazza Hasan, Andleeb Abbas and others.

Imran said the committee held that the killing of Hakimullah Mehsud on the eve of peace talks proved the US wanted no peace in Pakistan or a dialogue with the Taliban.

He said it also showed who had been sabotaging peace in the country. He referred to the recent bomb attacks in KP in the wake of the APC decision to hold talks with the Taliban, especially the one on the Pak Army convoy, a Peshawar church etc. and said the Taliban denied having a hand in those attacks.

Imran asked the federal government to probe those bombings to ascertain the involvement of a foreign hand since they were aimed at delaying the initiating of the dialogue process with the TTP. He said, “The people of Pakistan should rise against the powers which did not want peace in the country and region for their ulterior motives, and find whose actions had been pushing the country to continuous bloodshed for the last nine years.”

Imran lamented the previous governments who joined the US war and trapped the Pakistan Army against their own people to provide a winning situation for the enemies of the country. He said the PTI decided to block Nato supplies to force the US to stop drone attacks. He said starting from the KP Assembly on Monday, the PTI would table and pass resolutions in the national and other provincial assemblies in the coming week.

He said the KP chief minister had summoned an emergency session of the assembly on Monday for passing that resolution against Nato supplies.

He referred to the judgment of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) which had asked the government to block Nato supplies if the US did not stop drone attacks, and said the PTI core committee decided to block Nato supplies in the light of the high court judgment.

Imran appealed to all the political and religious parties to get united to save the country, as it was time to fight the war to protect the country. He said the entire nation should join hands for the sake of the unity of the country.

The PTI chief praised the efforts of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar for the sake of holding peace talks with the Taliban, and said Nisar had worked hard towards that end but the US sabotaged all those efforts.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the PTI would take all the opposition parties into confidence regarding the blocking of Nato supplies.

KP govt to block Nato supplies: CM

            From the Newspaper

MANSEHRA, Nov 3: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would block all sorts of Nato supplies after the passage of a resolution in this regard from the provincial assembly.
“We are moving the provincial assembly to get passed a resolution seeking ban on the use of our soil for transportation of Nato supplies and we would follow it in letter and spirit. We will fulfil whatever commitment Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan would make without considering its consequences,” said Mr Khattak while speaking at a public gathering in Sum Alliamung area here on Sunday.
Known political leader Shahzada Gusatsab announced to join the PTI on this occasion. Besides, on the call of traders action committee a black day was observed during the CM’s visit against the transfer of DPO Abdul Ghafoor Afridi.
The chief minister told the gathering that the session of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly was summoned on Monday (today) in which the resolution demanding ban on Nato supplies was likely to be passed.
“We would first take into confidence the leaders of other political parties in the KP Assembly on the issue as people of province wanted it (blocking Nato supplies) and we would come up to their expectations,” said Mr Khattak.
He said that the PTI had extended unconditional support to the government’s dialogue with Taliban, but a single drone strike sabotaged their sincere efforts.
Mr Khattak said that rulers at the federal level should fulfil the promises they had made during the election to address the core issue of terrorism. He said that the resolution concerning creation of Hazara province was lying with the provincial assembly secretariat and it would soon be passed with a majority.
“We would pass the Hazara province resolution with a thumping majority and we hope that the federal government would also follow the suit for giving the status of a separate province to Hazara,” said Mr Khattak.
The chief minister said that local government system being introduced in Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan provinces was an eyewash as people were not being empowered, but the system to be introduced by his government would be for real empowerment of people at grassroots.
“We are going to introduce a local government system which would give power to masses to run their daily affairs and it would be a real change,” he claimed.
He said that in past people used to receive kickbacks and easy load of millions for whatever they did, but nobody could point fingers at his ministers and government for any such act.
“It is not surprising that father of the former chief minister is levelling serious allegations of corruption and kickbacks against the previous ANP government,” Mr Khattak said and claimed that hands of the current provincial rulers were clean and they had been working for the betterment of people.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Gusatsab said that his decision to join the PTI was based on public demand, as the party was aiming at empowerment of people in its real sense.
Meanwhile, on the call of the action committee the traders observed a black day against the transfer of DPO Abdul Ghafoor Afridi from Mansehra. Black flags were hoisted on shops and markets on the arrival of chief minister as a mark of protest against the KP government’s decision to transfer the officer. —Correspondent

Thanks for keeping us updated Shah-i-Kot (Unknownprince).

Things are heating up and coming to a head.

Things will be decided either way, whether Imran Khan is all talk - and it seems he isn't - and will succeed in the blocking NATO supplies and end the Pakistani-American war against Afghans.

This issue is probably the most important issue facing Pashtuns and their region right now, as it may determine whether there is finally peace in the region or not.

Sticking to its guns: K-P govt reiterates resolve to push centre for blocking NATO supplies

                By Abdur Rauf
                Published: November 6, 2013

PESHAWAR: The Khyber-Pakhtukhwa (K-P) government on Tuesday reiterated its resolve to act independently if the federal government takes no steps to block Nato supplies and drone attacks by November 20.
A day earlier, the K-P Assembly unanimously passed a resolution to push the centre to halt Nato supplies by the said date, maintaining the province would otherwise be free to pursue its own course of action.
“We need to build a consensus on this important national issue, as sovereignty and territorial integrity were completely ignored in carrying out drone attacks,” said K-P Minister for Information Shah Farman while briefing journalists about the provincial cabinet meeting at Officer’s Mess.

Replying to a question about the constitutional restrictions prohibiting the K-P government from stopping Nato supplies, Farman insisted, “If the federal government fails to forge national consensus on the issue by November 20, the K-P government will choose its own line of action.”
The minister said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has always taken a clear stance against drone attacks, and supported the move of blocking Nato supplies when the previous government took the decision following the US airstrike on Salala check post which killed 24 Pakistani soldiers.
“We are raising the issue not for political point scoring, but because we want to take a unanimous decision after consulting all political parties,” said Farman, adding the ongoing war on terrorism has ravaged the province. “We don’t want any more bloodshed and seek durable peace in this region.”
The information minister went on to say blocking Nato supplies required unity on the part of all political parties to protect the sovereignty and integrity of the country. “Peace would ultimately be restored after pressurising the US to end its prolonged drone campaign in the tribal region. Being an independent nation, we must take a firm stance.”
Talking about other decisions taken during the cabinet meeting held under the chair of the K-P chief minister, Farman said various programmes and welfare schemes were approved in education, health and industrial sectors.
He said a scheme worth Rs1 billion has been approved for free emergency services in teaching hospitals of the province. This included Rs25 million for the establishment of an insulin bank, Rs3 million for the provision of incentives for maternal health services, Rs200 million for immunisation and Rs3 million for treatment of critical illnesses.
In the education sector, he said a sum of Rs100 million has been approved. This includes an initiative wherein each female student will receive a stipend of Rs200. The move is aimed at increasing enrolment and improving female literacy rate.

Imran Khan accuses US of derailing peace talks with Pakistan Taliban

                    By Reuters
                    Published: November 9, 2013

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan accused the United States on Friday of deliberately destroying any chance of meaningful peace talks with the Pakistani Taliban by killing the insurgency’s leader in a drone strike a week ago.
The Taliban have since rejected talks with the government and threatened a wave of revenge attacks for the death of their chief, Hakimullah Mehsud, on November 1.
Imran told Reuters in an interview that the United States had scuppered negotiations at a time when the militants seemed to have become more open to them.
“If there was a chance of peace talks, we should have grabbed it,” he said at his sprawling estate outside Islamabad.
“The Americans basically could have taken out Hakimullah whenever they wanted. I think the timing was to sabotage the peace process.
“The Americans think that if there is fighting going on here …in our tribal belt, there is less chance of insurgents going over to the other side (Afghanistan) to fight the Americans at a time when they are withdrawing.”
Washington has long put pressure on Pakistan to do more to tackle the insurgency but the new government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, elected in May, wants to find a negotiated solution to years of violence.
Attacks against the army and civilians, however, have not abated since Sharif came to power, causing concern in a region already nervous about the planned withdrawal of US-led troops from Afghanistan in 2014. Earlier this week US Secretary of State John Kerry defended the drone attack, and simultaneously maintained that Washington was sensitive to Pakistani concerns.
Mehsud had been tentatively open to ceasefire talks with the government, and it seemed that chain of events were progressing to an actual sitdown before the strike. However, new Taliban leader Mullah Fazlullah, whose men were behind the attack on schoolgirl Malala Yousafzai last year, strongly opposes negotiations.
                    “Slaves of America”
Imran hails from Waziristan, which has become a haven for the likes of al Qaeda, the Afghan Taliban and their Pakistani off shoots the TTP, has also become a popular hunting ground for US ‘predator’ drones.
The PTI chief said missiles fired by unmanned US aircraft in the remote mountainous tribal areas of North Waziristan, have only fuelled anti-American sentiment. He agrees with premier Nawaz Sharif on the need for peace talks with the Pakistan Taliban, fighting to topple the government.
Imran, whose political party is now in charge of the volatile Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province bordering these infested tribal areas, has threatened to cut NATO supply lines through the province from November 20 if US drone strikes do not end.
Blocking NATO trucks at K-P border checkpoints could disrupt the operations of US-led forces in Afghanistan but any decision to close supply routes through Pakistan would have to come from the central government in Islamabad.
“They (the Taliban) think … we are the slaves of America, that the Pakistan government is taking money from the US and fighting its (America’s) war and killing its own people,” Imran said.
“Therefore they have declared jihad (holy war) against the Pakistan army and Pakistani security forces. The dialogue should (take place) to take that narrative away.”
Despite Sharif’s emphasis on talks, no meaningful negotiations have taken place since his election and Fazlullah’s rise could signal the start of a new period of uncertainty and violence in the unstable region.
The Taliban want to oust the government and impose Islamist rule in the nuclear-armed nation. Opponents of talks, including many in Pakistan’s all-powerful army, believe the insurgency can only be defeated by force.
                    But Imran disagrees.
“We are bogged down in guerrilla warfare just as the British were bogged down for 80 years, in Waziristan, in the tribal areas, and they never succeeded,” he said in reference to British military failures in the 19th century. “We are not going to succeed because they (Taliban) are masters of guerrilla warfare.”

                            RECORDER REPORT
Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) general secretaries from all districts of KP have strongly backed the decision of Party's Chairman Imran Khan regarding the blocking of Nato Supply lines in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, on November 20, and assured to fully support for any action or protest against the Nato supplies.

Speaking at a news conference at Press Club here on Wednesday, PTI General Secretary from district Mansehra, Ishtiaq Khan Advocate said Imran Khan-led PTI always raised voice against the US drone attacks and military operations in the tribal regions. On the occasion, PTI general secretaries from more than 13 districts of KP, including Asif Rehman from Bannu, Mohammad Zaib Khan (Swat), Ali Shah Mashwani (Dir Lower), Mohammad Ibrahim Lagahari (DI Khan), Mohammad Nawaz (Dir Upper), along with the Party's general secretaries from rest of the districts of the province.

Ishtiaq Khan said rulers kept silence over US drone strikes in tribal region of Pakistan which were against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country. "We will not tolerate more killings of innocent civilians in the unauthorised US predators' attacks in the Fata," he warned.

"These unilateral strikes are counter-productive for Pakistan peace efforts, entail losses of innocent civilian lives and have human rights and humanitarian implications," Ishtiaq said. He emphasised the importance of bringing an immediate end to the Drone attacks in tribal region of Pakistan. He said people want only peace and ending of the Drone strikes.

He said provincial legislative assembly in KP also adopted a unanimous resolution against those cowardly US drone strikes in Fata. "US don't have any right to interfere in internal affairs of Pakistan and we need to resolve our own issues by following all traditional and peaceful ways," he stressed. "We are raising voice for protecting sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country," he remarked. He maintained that PTI would not compromise on drone attacks and other key national issues, and assured the Party's central and provincial leadership to fully support any decision regarding the blockage of Nato supplies' route in KP on November 20.
