I've seen pictures of tribals in Kashmir, but they are quite different.

This is 1965 war picture, it is said in detailed accounts that tribesmen were sent to frontilines but it didnt work like 1948. Some sources say that many tribals refused to face indian air force bombardment in open fields of punjab.

In 1948 war of kashmir, pashtun tribesmen were sent by pak army to occupy kashmir without giving them heavy and modern weapons. Without suppy line ,tribesmen faced starvation in winters of kashmir. Some sources say that local kashmiris refused to cooperate with these starving invaders, so tribals started looting people. They fought battles with maharaja army and heavily equiped indian army and liberated azad kashmir on their own....while pakistan army didnt go there on orders of their angraiz chief general gracey. At the end cannon fodder aka tribals didnt get any recognition or awards from paki governament while the pak army was given the credit for winning one third of kashmir, faujis were awarded nishan-e-haider and other awards.

Sikhs started demolishing mosques, banned prayers and eating beef, enforced heavy taxes and started hanging muslims...the once prosperous kashmir became a starved and improvished state with deaths. British rescued them and sold them to a dogra raja for 75 lakh rupees.
The spineless and coward kashmiris never rise against hindu raj from 1841 to 1947....yet pakistanis are falsely claiming that its local kashmiris who started against indians, the fact is kashmiris are meek sheeps.

A Kashmiri militant leader said that when the war finished in Afghanistan Mullah Omar owns them and need to come and help them in their fighting. The kashimiri was bragging about fighting in Afghanistan in the eighties.

i thought Kashmiris liked Pashtuns and there are alot of Pukhtana in Kashmir but it seems kashmiris are just another group of punjabis who chose the side of sikhs against Afghans.
