Tribalism or 'tribal nationalism' exist mainly due to pashtunwalee. Tribal idenitification would not last that long for no reason, tribal names -zay, -khel, are in fact connected to a system (pashtunwalee) which is not some cheap barbaric license for honor-killing.

this is an extremely complex system
        that implicates

        - backbone of our independence
        - developed in hostile living conditions as a protective measure againgst enemies
        - customs and laws to guarantee a functional society
        - structures and regulations of a social life
        - organization of settlement and migration
        - conflict regulation, resolution and sanctions
        - regulation, access and usage of recources
        - organization of social life, marriage and relations to women
        - definition of personal rights
        - concepts of ethics and virtues
        - with hundreds of specific words, ceremonies, traditions and customs on wedding, marriage, child birth, raising and many many other things

This is not written and cant be find in books.

To abolish tribal culture means to destroy pashtunwalee to erase our history, to delete our culture, traditions, customs and to forget everybody who shared red blood to protect their home, family.

Am I understanding right that everyone here with the exception of Maseed wants to abolish Pashtunwali?

Tribalism does result in our division but ideologies divide us further apart than anything else. What do you think, Darweshkhel? I find that religious Pakistani Pashtuns (the TTP, JUI and JI crowd) and secular nationalists (PMAP, ANP) have support from individuals from within different tribes.

What I posted was quite ambiguous. I've fixed it now. What I meant was that there are Yusufzais that support the Jinnah ideology while there are other Yusufzais working with ANP and PMAP. Similarly, there are nationalist, Islamist and Pakistan-Islamist Mehsuds.

However, If all Pashtuns from Afghanistan wants to join FATA and Pakhtunkhwa as one state, I will support it but not long ago the tribals oppose this new name of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and refused to join it and preferred a Qabalisation instead as our cutoms and culture will be saved from Nazia Iqbals and Drunkard ANP.

                Kind Regards
Malgariya, Central Pashtunkhwa (FATA) should have a Lagislative Council on the basis of adult franchise with its own executive and the inhumane FCR should be abolished and replaces with a body of law drafted by the Council.

I think till now i got it that we should give up as separate tribal identity and should regard ourselves as Pashtun or Pakhtoon. But as Mr. Maseed gave an another brilliant idea of unification and instead of taking forward of Admin khan Agenda, he excluded the tribes who living in settle areas of Pakistan.

Anyhow, still Admin khan, did not give an ultimate goal to Pakhtoon as
                  1-separate country,
2-abolishment of inter-tribe complexes, getting along with the people of other ethnicities by competing with them through education and hard work in their respective countries.

These are the specific goal, which can be discussed or otherwise it seems ambiguous and cant carry us to any conclusion.

Tribal Nationalism is beyond my understanding. i can't grasp how one pashtoon can be proud of his own tribe and not be proud of other pashtoon tribes at the same time. we are one pashtoon no matter where we are from. we should only feel proud based on how well we keep our culture, and pashtoonwali alive... and how we are loyal and committed to pashtoons and their well being.

We worship tribes because this was promoted by our enemies. This is not what tribal customs are about. Plus our tribal identity is pashtunwalee. Most pashtuns are tribal and there are areas where people preserve tribal customs but they never heard of this word pashtunwalee, they call it rawaj, or reewaj, or afghanyat. The REAL idea behind tribal identity egalitarianism, to avoid corruption, to delimit influence, to provide security etc etc.
Look at our progressive and tolerant scholars like Benawa, Ulfat, Rishteen, Habibi, Mohmand they all were tribal and supported pashtunwalee. But do you know their tribe? No because they didnt worship it.
Even the term 'pashtunwalee' look at it, what is the meaning? People dont even care, whats behind it!

Wali is an ancient term to describe kinship, blood relation, alliance, connection by blood or even better WALEE gives evidence on HOW you are related to someone.
                      Wrorwali, morwali, zoywali, yawwali.
WAL is used for someone who belongs and is connected etc gharwal, korwal, shamlawal.
Pashtunwalee is unity but most people dont even know. I suggest everybody to stop worshipping tribes and redefine our ambitions as a nation. Maybe this would result in reformation of pashtunwalee. But tribal names cant be abolished that fast because the concepts of pashtunwali, regulation of settlement and resources are linked to tribal names.
You will recieve free cultivation land in a community only by proving tribal name, there are hamsaya tribes, who migrated into tribal areas and asked native tribes to protect them, they seek asylum but they dont own the same status like they dont have veto etc.

some even exist in this forum. What admin khan was saying (from what I got from it) is first we should unify as a pashtun.

from there we can push forward an agenda we can't scream for pashtunistan if you yourself value your Afridi tribe more than us Pukhtuns.
Neither i have declared myself Prince nor Afridi so far by name , but if the purpose is, to nullify unnecessay boasting of single tribe at the expense of other then i support him strongly because personally i believe in few individualistic qualities rather than to lead a delusional life with empty praising without abstracting something good.To me a person or group from any tribe or ethnicity can be my ideal or source of my pride if he or they have done something positive towards betterment or to ward off any evil force. In broad sense this abolishment of self boasting is the teaching of Islam and does not confine to only Pakhtoon folk.
