  • What if Assef from The Kite Runner was a real person?

According to the Kite Runner written by, Khalid Hosseini (if i guessed right) He seems to be a very staunch Pakhtun nationalist, very very very staunch.

I know he's Pro-Pashtun but does he talk about Loy-Afghanistan?

In the Kite Runner, it only shows the hatred againts Hazaras, but what would Assef think about Pakistan?

1.Does Assef have any thoughts about Pakistan in the Kite runer? Is Assef aware of the Durrand Line?

    2. How would he react if he met Pashtuns that prefer alliegance to Pakistan and not Afghanistan.

3.What does Assef think about the Durrand Line?

    4. What does he think about Punjabi Muslims?

    5. What does he even think about the Sikhs (ex. Sikh-Afghan wars).

If all these were already covered in the book, tell me what he sais, otherwise it's speculation, Khaled Hosseini, is just another Tajik trying to troll us about what Afghanistan's about.

i think this thread is more appropriate...

Conversing the truth, lies and intelligence pertaining to the assessment of the Pashtun population across the Durrand line.

BTW, most people in the West know what a pashtun is according to the Kite Runner. Other than That, Pakistani Pashtuns and Punjabis and Pashtuns and Tajiks/Hazaras are considered same people to people from the outisde....

prior to coming across pf, I had never seen or heard of anyone giving a rat's ass about "Loy Afghanistan". It's quite amusing to see some of you day dream about giving non Pashtuns of Afghanistan "a little piece of land" and kicking them off before inviting the bunch of you all in. To know that you have thought about it so much that you have it all figured..assef as well as any other typical afghan in Afghanistan would be worried about his own issues. He wouldn't be bothered about punjabi Hindus, Sikhs or Muslims for that matter. Those are thoughts that people living with the luxury of plenty of time to waste in their hands tend to entertain themselves by.

Assef was pro-Pashtun, it implies that he wanted Afghanistan Pashtunized and kick out all Hazaras and Tajiks. He tells everyone "We are Pashtuns, True Afghans".....

trust me, before coming to PF, there have been Pashtun nationalists, like an Afghan girl had a cousin that she thought was atheist because he said culture was more important than religion and that she should only marry a pashtun , disregarding afghan.

It's cause Pashtuns lack education where they are now, it's not that they don't care, they don't even know...... that's why it's so easy for Pakistan to rewrite history for it's Pashtun citizens....

I haven't read the book, but in the movie, Assef repeatedly sais Afghanistan is only for Pashtuns through different parts of the film.... how can you say he doesn't care about Pashtunistan???

don't quote me 15 times just to have your thread running. Say all that you have to say in one post or calm down and summarize it.
I read that book almost 8 years ago and from what I remember, assef was the protagonist in the story. It should not matter whether he is pro or anti Pashtuns. You should have the brains not to want to glorify or be interested in his opinions of anyone.
He took the opinion of a typical moron and passed it on as that of every other Pashtun out there and for that he was wrong which is why people are not happy with him. That does not mean every afghan in Afghanistan thinks that way or that you should give some character from his book which he clearly created to be negative as the reference of the general opinion of pahtuns in Afghanistan.

And it's funny because when the writer of that book portrayed a Pashtun having such views of the non Pashtuns in Afghanistan, he was deemed racist for misrepresenting Pashtuns but in pf I see people claiming **** like every day and no one bothers to question it let alone consider it wrong.

Sorry my language but this movie was utterly ****. The one who made the story, those who participated in making the movie are all traitors and shouldn't be allowed to step inside Afghanistan. They should all get a one-way ticket to hell. They have shamed all Afghans, they have shamed all Muslims and they have shamed all humanity.

Who in their right mind would make a crappy movie like that.
                - It has no dept
                - It has no deeper meaning
                - It advocate racism
                - It is historically wrong
                - It sole purpose was to defame Pashtuns

People who likes this movie should be ashamed. And those Afghans who like this movie should hang themselves. People simply shouldn't exceed a certain level of stupidity.
Don't quote me or speak to me if you hate Afghanistan, you be ignored.

People with identity crisis will be ignored as well.

Wasn't Asef the one that raped the Hazara boy? -_-
And by the way Asef acted like a typical Kabuli Tajik, my father said they the Tajiks of Kabul had a supiriority complex and made fun of Pashtu language and also fun about Hazaras, in that time Pashtuns never acted so nationalistic like this......

yeah. Assef was from Afghanistan but dazahroojam was right.

Assef and Amir were upper-class. Being upper-class means you have luxeries, then lot's of time in their hands to think about stupid nationalist matters like Loy Afghanistan

it is cause the USSR invasion and Taliban, everything went to ****, so assef had no chance to think about loy pashtunistan

but he joined the Taliban. Personally, i dont think Assef cares about Pashtuns. He's a hypocrite, only cares about power that's why he changed sides. Most Pashtun nationalists know that the Taliban was created by the Punjabis (Pakistan), so why does Assef join the Taliban if the Taliban is lead by the very same people that divided Pashtuns into two nations?

i think Khalid Hosseini should have added a pashtun nationalist, or more so a Pashtun seperatist that get's into disucssions with Gul Khans, as another main character in his novels. I doubt he did.
