KPK Assembly moved for giving Hazara status of province

    September 07, 2013 SAID ALAM KHAN 1

KPK Assembly moved for giving Hazara status of province

PESHAWAR - In order to give status of province to Hazara Division, three lawmakers from Abbottabad district submitted a resolution in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly secretariat on Friday.
Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Higher Education Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, Qalandar Khan Lodhi, Advisor to Chief Minister on Department of Food and Public Distribution and MPA Sardar Idrees jointly submitted the resolution.
Through the resolution, it called that giving status of province to Hazara Division is a long awaited demand of the people from the area.
Talking to The Nation, Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Higher Education Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani confirmed it that they have formally submitted a resolution in provincial assembly secretariat. "We have submitted the resolution after having proper consultation with Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak," he informed.
He said that the resolution may be tabled in the next session of KPK Assembly that is going to meet on September 10. He was confident enough to pass it from the floor of the house, as they would also take all the allied parties into confidence on the resolution. He said that it was a long awaited demand of the people of Hazara Division and it must be met accordingly.
Meanwhile, the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has summoned the session of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday (September 10). The assembly will meet at 03:00 PM in the provincial assembly building of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said a circular issued here.
    Separate jail for terrorists:
Online adds: Construction work on a jail, solely for terrorists and militants, has been started in KPK.
As per the authorities concerned, this jail is being established in the city of Mardan in which modern security system will be installed. This will be a central jail and security arrangements there will be of international standards.
Talking to BBC, spokesperson for KPK Chief Minister, Sheraz Paracha, said important prisoners would be kept in this jail and its staff would be fully trained.
According to the authorities, this jail will have separate rooms and a centre from where prisoners will not be able to come out by themselves. Experts’ services are also being hired for this jail and it will be constructed as soon as possible.
A home department official said this project would be completed in the next few months after which all the prisoners facing terror charges would be shifted there.
Initially, militants, terrorists and prisoners involved in major crimes will be shifted to district jail Mardan and as soon as the main jail is constructed, they will be shifted there.
The decision of establishing a jail solely for terrorists and militants was taken after the attacks on Bannu and DI Khan jails.

    1. Pakistan is run by Punjabis.

Hazaras i.e. Hindko speakers are essentially Punjabis culturally, linguistically and mentally.

    2. Pashtuns had to wait 6 decades to get a proper name from their province from the non-descript "North west frontier province".

Hazaras wait a few years not for a name change but an entire new province of their own.

    3. This is Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

It is a province which its "Muslim brothers" from the Punjab refused to give it surplus wheat to feed hungry Muslims in Pakhtunkhwa, it has very little power.

It is now going to lose a big portion of its territory i.e. the Hazara division and this will include majority-Pashtun regions of the Hazara division.

If the PMAP wanted Pashtun-majority areas of Balochistan to form their own province the Punjabi-controlled Pakistani authorities would block it.

    ANP fights back!

    Adeel flays PTI

    Bureau report
    Sunday, September 08, 2013
    From Print Edition

PESHAWAR: Acting president of Awami National Party (ANP) Senator Haji Muhammad Adeel Saturday criticised the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for submitting a draft resolution in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly for creation of Hazara province.

Addressing a press conference at the party’s Baacha Khan Markaz, he warned that his party would resist if any attempt was made to bring geographical changes in the province.

“They (government) would have to accept our claim on Mianwali and Attock districts as well,” Adeel stated while opposing separation of Hazara from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said the PTI neither had the mandate nor roots in Hazara division and as such it had no right to submit the draft resolution for creating a new province.

He termed the move as “Lahori Conspiracy” and said the ANP would also raise similar demands. “In that case, the Durand Line chapter should also be opened,” he added while referring to the long and porous border between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Earlier, the ANP’s central election committee discussed the party’s membership drive.

Vociferous opposition: Hazara resolution a conspiracy to dismantle K-P says ANP

If a fifth province is on the books then a movement will be started to “take back Islamabad along with parts of southern Punjab and merge it with K-P,” said Senator Haji Adeel.

        PESHAWAR:

The resolution for a Hazara province is tantamount to a conspiracy to split Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) apart, said Awami National Party (ANP) central organising committee chairman Senator Haji Adeel on Saturday.
If a fifth province is on the books then a movement will be started to “take back Islamabad along with parts of southern Punjab and merge it with K-P,” he said at a news conference at Bacha Khan Markaz.

Senator Adeel pointed out the Hazara province was not part of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) manifesto, but the party leadership went ahead and submitted a resolution for the establishment of the province.
The PTI leadership is trying to distract people from the failure of its government’s first 100 days by reawakening the idea of the Hazara province, alleged the ANP leader.

Before establishing a Hazara province, the provincial government needs to establish the Abaseen Division; give Baffa and Oghi the status of tehsils in Manshera; and get the Punjab Assembly to pass a resolution to merge Attock and Mianwali with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, argued the irate senator.

He claimed Margalla, which is a part of Islamabad, should also be absorbed by K-P. If elements in Lahore do not stop conspiring against K-P, ANP will drum up a resolution on the truncated division of the Durand Line which divides Pakistan and Afghanistan, he warned.
Interestingly, a similar resolution for the Hazara province was submitted by ANP MPAs during their government.

“We are ready to forgive the blood of our 900 party workers,” and participate in the all-parties conference, said Adeel while referring to the upcoming moot. He was formally invited by Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Khan over the telephone on Saturday.

Discussing the party’s reorganisation, the senator explained ANP’s intra-party elections will be conducted via secret ballots.

Imran Khan, working to break the Hazara region away from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

ANP are threatening to bring up the Durrand line (an artificial border which separates cousins and families of the Pashtun ethnicity) issue in retaliation.

ANP are a bunch of criminals. They are just using this to gain support after they lost shamelessly to PTI.

In fact, ANP threw the towel in the ring for Durrand ages ago.

Hazaras of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are Hindko (a type of Punjabi) speakers, in fact many are actually "Pathans" who now speak Hindko/Punjabi and are quite anti-Pashtun.

The movement for a Hazara province has been around ever since "NWFP" was renamed to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

                The problem is:

                1. If the Punjabis can break away from Pakhtunkhwa with their Hazara province, can non-Punjabis start to form their own provinces?

                I doubt it.

                Not in Punjabi-ruled "Pakistan".

                2. Why do Pashtuns have to wait 6 decades for a simple name change and Hazaras/Punjabis wait for a few years for an entire province of their own?

                3. What about those Pashtun areas of the so-called "Hazara division" who do not want to be with the racist Hazara dominated province?

On Khyberwatch a few years ago one user said there are even some Pashtuns in the Hazara division who are arming themselves and ready to fight if they are included in a new "Hazara province".

                  1. ANP in their previous incarnation (NAP) supported Bengalis in 1971.

Badshah Khan (rahmatullahi 'alaih) helped Bengalis in 1970, donated money to help us with the flood that killed 1/2 a million people.

Wali Khan helped to rescue a Bengali diplomat's son.

Even the Deobandi, Pashtun leader at that time Maulana Mufti Mehmood tried to stop the 1971 war from happening.

There is a theory that the Sunni leaders e.g. Bacha Khan, Wali Khan and Maulana Mufti Mehmood had more sympathy for fellow Sunni Bengalis in contrast to the Shias e.g. Bhutto, Ayub Khan.

                  2. You can insult the ANP as much as you want but they include many pious Muslims amongst their ranks.

                  ANP members.

Anyway this thread is not about the ANP, most ordinary Pashtuns in KPK do not want the secession of the Hazara region.

No, not everyone who helps Bangladesh is a good Muslim.

However, yes the ANP are secular and yes unfortunately they have some secularists who seem to be hostile to Islam, but they also have their positive sides.

Anyway this thread is not about the ANP, it is about the Hazara division attempting to separate from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

This is about ANP because you are praising them and reproducing the same garbage as they do: Pashtuns are dumb and therefore religious, hence Pakistan uses Pashtuns. Thats what you said, this is typical ANP propaganda.

You are an unjust person. Your hatred for Pakistan leads you to side with kaafirs and faasiqs.

                            1. I did not start by praising them. I merely pasted two articles about what one of their spokesmen said on this issue.

                            2. What is the issue?

The removal of a large piece of land which is currently under the jurisdiction of a Pashtun province.

Is that something relevant to talk about on a Pashtun forum?

Thus is it relevant to provide the response of the main Pashtun nationalist party on this issue?

                            Yes.

                            3. On a separate thread - not here - I said Pashtuns have a strong love for Islam.

This love for Islam predates Pakistan. However it is manipulated by the Pakistani regime to support their own agenda.

This process also occured in Bangladesh with our Jamaat i Islami and razakars (collaborators), a few of whom still exist and control the Bangladeshi section of defence.pk

The use of Islam for supporting Pakistani national interests is a phenomenon existent amongst both Pakhtuns and Bengalis, and I have never called anyone "dumb", or anyone "dumb" for being religious.

What is your opinion on the Hazara issue? Please comment on the actual topic.

I don't believe in solving minor issues and making a big deal out of them while ignoring the bigger issues.

Who cares if they divide one province into two or three?

In Afghanistan Hazaras have their provinces while they don't even live there, they all moved to Iran or Kabul.

Panjsheris have their own province while they all live in North West Kabul.

Just giving people a province doesn't really change much.

                              There are bigger concerns.
