Pashtuns in NWFP are "Afghans" by descent as per the land revenue records. It's where the A comes from in Pakistan... it made sense in it's day but the context of the term Afghan has changed, Afghan is now seen in the terms of a nation states citizens not ethnicity or grouping.

I think Luffy made it clear the reason behind the propaganda over the accepting the term "Afghan". I once witnessed a **** newspaper from 1990s in which in details written in Pakhtu translated by a friend into English. That why Pakhtun should no longer be calling themselves "Afghan" because at the bottom it presented a Russian lingustic demographic Data where dated from 1989 Pashtun was less then 37% of Afghanistan and therefore the ISI newspaper concluded that "Why shell we call ourselves Afghan when Afghan is nationality of Afghanistan where 63% of Afghans are not Afghan at all but rather related to Indo-Iranians, Turks, etc. LOL Indeed I know what Luffy said was true. Its a common believe in NWFP because the ISI propaganda prints, little by little of anti-Afghan propaganda in their news day after day. I am surprise that some like brother Luffy still knows once it was their Racial identity and even today our eyes they are afghan but under ISI BS they are now "Pakhtun" and Pakhtun only. I say F to all languages and lets speak Arabic like Al Sistani and lets see who says hes Arab and but rather Afghan or Ajami.

Oh Yeah Another ISI properganda Pakistan nation of Pathans, an assignment completed by an Ismaili writer Ahmad Rashid.
BTW I thought it was 90 million because half of Punjabistan has "Khan" as their last name. I can't remember but I think it was in PK.defence forum. and another guy came up with Rahulpindhi 90% Pakhtun. LOL

How many of you Pashtuns of Pakistan and Afghanistan consider yourself as Afghan? While living in Pakistan do you proudly say you are Afghan?

I always say myself Afghan before other nations, Lar aw bar yaw Afghan is clear in my mind

But when u people continously claim this Pashtun=Afghan, it produces some doubt in my mind that this is an effort to clearify someone that Pashtun=Afghan or u want to tell someone that donot forget this Pashtun=Afghan etc.
I suspect this is an effort to clearify the pashtuns of Peshawar that we all are one Afghan.

I donot want to create any offence but really this is a doubt in my mind.

Why tajiks ,uzbeks and hazaras call themselves afghans ?

Most Uzbeks and Hazaras I know they say I am Uzbek or I am afghani. They simply say I am from Afghanistan and since their features differ from general population they don't to say it all time, there is natural understanding. When I went to US for some 2 years ago to USA. I came across a very good gentlemen Cap driver and into conversation I knew he was Hazara so I asked anyways because of his heavy accept I asked him. "Where are you from?" he responded "From Afghanistan". I asked again "Oh I see but I thought you were Chinese or Japanese or something." Oh Yeah I am holding my Gutts and continued "Because Most Afghans I know how they look like!" He smiled and said "there are many kind of Afghans in Afghanistan. I am not from Afghan Afghan, but I am Hazara, we are in central Afghanistan, in the Heart of Afghanistan". I changed the subject but I wish I could shared more with him by simply making it right at the beginning, cause the man very nice and I spend some 15 mins in his car seem like 2 mins.

So try it yourself. Those who are non-Afghan like Tajikistanis/Uzbeks/Hazaras, they will proudly tell you they are not Afghan.

However Afghan cultural is so influential and special that it touches anything it will make its own. Afghan Music, Afghan dress, Afghans laws, Afghan tradition, Afghan food, LOL so we have Afghan people as well.
Actually another reason why its so general, is because the nationality has been chosen as "afghan" where as nationality of Iran is Iranian, Pakistan is Pakistani, India is Indian. LOL We have no Afghanian or Afghanistani, well there is a project by anti-Afghans into changing the nationality to Afghanistani, with the proposal that Afghanistan is 75% non-Afghan. Therefore Afghanistani is better. The word was coined by Ismailis and it was first by Agha Khan Organization in their Dictionary of Islam. Later Latif Pedram used it in the afghan Parliament, and it freaked people out.
