  • Why is our status so bad as Pashtuns?

We need education. Education is the key to our success.
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Ethnic Pathan jokes are promoting stereotypes about us. They are more destructive to our image than any thing. Sadly many of our pashtun brothers themeselves feel no shame in forwarding these sms.

We Pashtuns must unify, are we always going to be stuck like that? I was in Karachi and every joke was on a Pakistani Pashtun all those Sms jokes were on Pathans and etc.

What can we do to improve our society, can we even change our statuses now?
If Pashtuns unite they can gain a lot. Unfortunately we divide ourselves and let others divide us on trivial things. Had we been united we would have not put ourselves in such a mess. However it is a little more complicated that mere disunity...we have no hand in policy making...so America and Pakistan sets policies for themselves at the expense of Pashtuns...hec we are barely even brought into the table.

ALokozai needs to never talk to a achakzai .

          we are badly divided.

what can we do to improve our statuses.
Also add on to the fact that pashtuns don't know how to put forward their interests...and those that do are castigated by their own pashtuns.

            Tribalism is not a problem!
a person is not pashtun if he do not belong to one of the tribe. tribes are key factors in maintaing our identity.
You can be educated, progressive and tribal at the same time.

1- stop hating other nations. Respect others. Many "others" r not our enemies believe me.
2- unity is power which lacs among us. Why one pashtun is enemy of other one?
3- education is basic key for us, especially education of women.

Do you mind to elaborate what you mean by Pashtuns hating other nations?

I am a bit confused with that remark.

wrora my apologise if i offended u.
I wanted to say that if one person thinks bad about u (such as punjabis or muhajirs), even then we should not spread hate for them. Love mankind irrespective of their ethnicity, their behavior towards u, their religion, their language...then God wil also love u, and one day wil come when they (others) wil recognise your importance.

No need to apologize at all, I am not offended at all, nope not one bit.

Nor do I get upset or mad that easily.

Pashtuns in the occupied Pashtunkhwa are passing through a phase of severe self alienation. They have forgotten about their history, their great ancestors, their culture and even their language. You will see even people concocting logic and philosophies to justifies their nation's servitude for their narrow personal interests. Such a shame. Anyway we hope things are changing rapidly now.
