A group of armed Taliban fighters late on Monday evening threw grenades to a mosque packed with worshipers in Yousifkhil district, Paktika province, where nine people were injured. President Hamid Karzai condemned the attack and said: “Attack on a mosque and Muslims during this holy month of Ramadan only means enmity against Islam and Muslims and perpetrators of the attack get only doom of Almighty Allah and hatred of Afghanistan nation, nothing else.”
Following the attack National Directorate of Security personnel arrived in the area immediately and launched offensives against the insurgent group, resulting in killing of two Taliban commanders, Qari Khalil and commander Bazgull. Five insurgents were also injured in the firefight.
What do you think of Taliban’s attack on worshipers in mosques especially during Ramazan?
What could the Afghan government do to prevent similar attacks on civilians?
