I heard and several times read that the first Defense Minister of Afghanistan was a Tajoke from Panjshor. Is this true? Can someone provide some links?

NO. Some Decades before 2001. Jamiat had Defense Minister from Panjshori stock in the 90s, too. Under Karmal and Najib the Defense Ministry was in their hands as well. According to those Tajokes I read their posts in some groups it was during king Habibullah Khan and during Amir Abdurrahman Khan.

no. ahmed shah masood took the defense ministry in 92 until 96 when the talis deposed him, but before that all were Pashtun. there were no defense ministers during the time of abdur rahman or habibullah khan. ministry of defense is a new concept of administration. In afghansitan the ministry of defense was officially introduced in 1978 after the saur revolution and masud was the first tajoke defense minister which was a joke because he was just controlling parts of Kabul and parts the north.

It makes the setup look very polarized. The defence minister is a tajik, the intelligence chief I forget his name but I recall him being a fierce anti-taliban campaigner (was chief of one of the factions fighting against them). That karimi guy who is another anti-taliban commander, curiously enough he was exiled to Pakistan maybe thats why he is so much against Pakistan.

So all your military, intelligence and civil defence brass is extremely anti-taliban..How in the world do you go on to have peace talks with them ? People here say all the time that Pakistan controls the taliban, that is false the fact is Afghan government has shown no inclination on the ground to have peace talks with the Taliban.

                  Its all logic.
The tajiks and hazaras control the government. any thing done by a Pashtun has to be approved a Tajik or hazara and that is why the talis enjoy support from mostly Pashtuns. as long as the gov keeps an anti Pashtun stance which will probably be the case because the leaders of the north are very anti Pashtun, the talis will not disappear. and this is a blessing to the pak gov because its not pak policy that is keeping afghansitan weak, it is afghan policy mainly the northern leaders that is keeping afghanistan weak.

the people on this forum are morons, they don't get it.

Ahmed Shah Abdali was surrounded by non-Pashtuns. He appointed them as governors all across the region.

i think than this has more to do with warlords and their grip on power.
the moment they make peace with taliban thats when they become irrelevant to the Afghan society.Right now they are holding Afghan society hostage.
they want to secure their well stolen fortune and also be able to have political power in Afghanistan. Thats why sayyaf was saying he wants the warlords be armed again so he can fight against taliban.

Here Mr Ali Shah Wejdan explains it.

                        "Tajoke"?

I know pashtuns and tajiks are struggling to become the strongest ethnic group in afghanistan, but you should not insult us. After all, we are neighbours.

it was you who made this thread under your other name Registerwal.
so you insulted tajiks and now you are angry at yourself pretending to be someone else.
