The world is witnessing an alarming new drug problem and much of this drug is grown in Afghanistan. Drugs threaten the health and welfare of youth and children, families and communities, and the billions of dollars generated by the drugs trade feed corruption, enhance the power of criminal networks and create fear and instability. Drugs cultivation and trafficking is a clear obstacle to development and to dignified productive lives. We all need to take a stand against a problem that affects us all. We hope to see an Afghanistan free of illicit drugs cultivation, production, trafficking and addiction.


In your opinion what are the factors pushing farmers toward the cultivation of poppies?
