Doha office Taliban's grave mistake: HIA | Pajhwok Afghan News

KABUL (PAN): Last week's opening of Taliban’s political office in Doha, a move backed by the Obama administration, was a grave mistake, the Hezb-i-Islami Afghanistan (HIA) said on Monday.
Direct negotiations between the US and the Taliban were to begin on Thursday in Qatar, but the dialogue had to be delayed as a result of strong reaction from the government of President Hamid Karzai.
Led by Gulbadin Hekmatyar, the party said in a statement on its website that talks with the US, which had announced to stay put in Afghanistan beyond 2014, were meaningless.
"Unfortunately, the Taliban have not only opted for dialogue with the US in these circumstances, they have also opened an office in a country that is viewed as a strong American base," the HIA added.
Calling Qatar a state with deep political, military and economic ties to the US, the party said a large number American troops and bases existed in the Gulf country.
In the wake of the US announcement of remaining in Afghanistan, the HIA said the Taliban should have followed in its footsteps by sticking to their armed resistance and snapping all relations with the Americans.
"The opening of this office in Qatar is in line with a sinister American conspiracy and (President) Obama considers this in the US interest," the statement claimed, saying the removal of the Taliban flag was an insult to the rebel movement.
The Taliban should have desisted from striking such a clandestine deal in the prevailing delicate situation, the party believed. "The appropriate course of action is to find a homegrown solution to Afghanistan's current crisis. We should resolve our problems through intra-Afghan dialogue without any meddling from foreigners..."
According to HIA, the US is trying to enter talks with the groups that are likely agree to its political and military ambitions in the region.
The Taliban appeared to have committed to recognising the Afghan constitution, cutting links to Al-Qaeda and holding talks with the Karzai administration, the statement said.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

A lot of his people are in the Karzai administration. With the statement
"The appropriate course of action is to find a homegrown solution to Afghanistan's current crisis. We should resolve our problems through intra-Afghan dialogue without any meddling from foreigners..."
One can see that he wants the Taliban to talk to Karzai instead of the Americans. The Taliban refuse to accept Karzai as a government and see him more of a puppet and would rather talk to the occupiers themselves. The Taliban see themselves as the Afghan government and representatives of the afghan people.
One thing Karzai has up his sleeve is that he can threaten the Americans to include them in the talks by refusing to sign the agreement to allow American bases.

maybe, Hizbe ghair-Islami should first get their heads out of Jamaate Islami and Pakistani army's arses before commenting about Taliban and "intra-Afghan dialogue".

All HIA negotatiors are based in Europe with European passports, Hokomatyar is running around free in Shamshatoo, and until recently, Qazi Hussain Ahmad would personally negotiate with High Peace Council and Karzai on behalf of Hokomatyar.

These guys are more corrupt then the Northern Alliance.

Taliban flag cut in half but still flying

Diplomat wrangling over the status of the new Taliban office in Doha continued as it emerged the insurgent emissaries were still flying their disputed flag, but on a much reduced flagpole.

The white flag which had enraged the Afghan president, Hamid Karzai, and contributed to his threat to pull out of the talks was visible through gaps in security walls ringing the villa.

Mr Karzai was furious after the Taliban raised the flag and put up a sign accrediting the political office to the "Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan" – the name the movement used when in power.

Officials said the Afghan government felt tricked after receiving assurances the new office would not give the insurgents legitimacy as an alternative government.

John Kerry, US Secretary of State, had to personally intervene to calm the furore and Washington told reporters on Wednesday that the Taliban envoys had removed the sign.

The sign was removed from the doorway of the pale terracotta villa in Doha's West Bay area on Wednesday night and the flag had disappeared from view.

By morning it was clear the flag was still flying at half mast, however, below the level of the villa's walls. Then by lunchtime the flagpole seemed to have been cut in half, though the flag remained.

Anger at the opening of the office, that Mr Karzai and observers said had handed the Taliban a propaganda coup, meant the first formal talks between America and the Taliban, which had been scheduled for Thursday, did not take place.
A man who opened the door at the office, and gave his name as Saleh, said the Taliban representatives were now discussing next steps between themselves and would not be making public statements until at least Sunday.
American sources also confirmed there would be no meeting on Thursday.

Mr Karzai appeared on Thursday to be mulling his response to the latest developments and holding talks with his advisers in the presidential palace.

PEPSI JIHAD........Had the US took action on Taliban hideouts in Pakistan, these Talibs would not be alive today in this office.

                Pot calling kettle black.

Did you even see the faces of those Talibs who were opening Talibum Political Office in Doha, what did you notice? Go on say it and be honest, we beg you! Your masters looked nothing like any warrior would look like but ones who sold their ghairat and soul to some Panjabi ISI generals who have been feeding them greasy chicken curry and "maash" dhaal in non other place but Karachi, judging from their oily and wet skin and round bellies and fat kunatians like other Pakis. They resembled more their Chaudari friends than a Pashtuns of southern belt of Afghanistan. But you guys are shameless liars and would claim that Mullah Omar kharKKKos is living in Kandahar.

This paragraph is riddled with fallacies and assumptions. First of all, the Pashtun world is extremely vast and is not confined to how you see what a pashtun is. Secondly if you notice most of the talibs in the Doha office were old men except for 1 man who looks like a fighter that just came from kandahar. Finally the ISI jargon is getting kind of old and is a total contradiction with the reality at hand none the less rich/middle class afghans are addicted to their conspiracy theories.

As I said you guys are lying shameless creatures. Pashtun world being vast my balls. Most of them being old, except one which he came from Kandahar? How does that change anything I said? Are you sure that fat boy with round soft cheeks looked like a warrior? He looks like he has been munching Paki burgers and curry and from his body language he appeared nothing like a warrior but some one who probably hardly been to Afghanistan but probably at best looked an urban dwelling Pakistani Pashtun.

Can you tell us with what passports they flew to Doha with? lol

I don't blame Talibs for having Pakis supporting them. If I was in their shoes I would do the same but I wont be lying otherwise or I would simply ignore to say anything about it. Any one would. You gotta have foreign support to wage war in Afghanistan since other than sand and rocks there is nothing else that can be utilized inside the country for sustaining a war and that for two decades. Go and propagate that to those who can be brain washed in to blowing themselves, son. You do not need lie on their behalf.

bravo what a great refutation! When i said they are old men that was implying old men don't look like warriors, but i can guarantee you that those old men could probably give you a whipping that would have you eating up your words while saying in urdu "maf karo maf karo!"

Sayyaf doesn't look like a warrior either because of his old age that doesn't imply that he has never fought or was never once a warrior.

In addition, when do politicians have to look like warriors? It isn't as if Taliban have sent their best commanders and fighters they sent their representatives.

Your argument is a non starter to be refuted and what I have said stands solid like a rock. Can you tell us where these old men have popped up from? You guys are blessed when it comes to rationality.

I am all for reconciliation with the Talibs and they have every right to live by the rest of Afghans side by side as equals. I just hope that they have grown enough brain, and indeed are free in their decisions and actions from their ISI pimps so they do not sacrifice the interests of Afghanistan to the aforementioned pimps' dictation. That's all.
