Nationalist parties observe strike against 18th amendment
KARACHI: On the appeal of Nationalist Parties a partial shutter down strike against 18th amendment was observed on Thursday while the police arrested 16 persons accused for creating insurgency in the city.
According to details, Sindh Nationalist Progressive Alliance of four nationalist parties appealed for strike in the province against 18th amendment of the constitution. Partial strike was observed in Gulistan Johar, Gulshan Hadeed, Wahdat Colony, Safora Goth, Time Squire, Hussain Hazara Goth and others area of the Karachi city.
The complete shutter down strike was observed in Qasim Abad, Wahdat Colony, Hussain Abad, Naseem Nagar, Bhitai Nagar, Bhitai Town, Gulistan Sajjad areas of Hyderabad while the intercity transports remained out of the roads.
The protestors of Sindhiani Tehreek observed sit in and blocked the road by setting tires on fire at Haider Chock in Hyerabad city while the police was on high alert to stop any untoward situation. Rasool Baksh Plajo while addressing the rally said that the poverty would increase if mineral resources are given to the federation. He urged the federation to give provincial autonomy according to 1940’s resolution.
The strike was also observed and transport remained off the roads in Thatta, Larkana, Jacobabad, Ghotki, Duhrki, Mirpur Mathelo, Badin, Shudad Kot, Warda Qanbar and in Naseer Abad. The protest demonstrations were underway in several cities while police apprehended six and ten persons from Badin and Thatta respectively.
Some unknown people torched a coach in Gulshan Hadded area of Karachi while on the other hand over the appeal of nationalist parties strike was not observed in Sanghar and routine life was at normal routine. The members of Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party under the leadership of the Mukhtair Lagahri, Chaman Das and Neendan Lal Bhattian took out rally while transport was continued in the area.
The all trade centers of district Tando Allah Yar were closed while the transport was out of roads in Haider Abad, Karachi, Mirpur Khas, Chambar and Tando Adam. The attendance in educational institutions and offices was thin. The police arrested traders and workers of nationalist parties and charged batons on the protestors while arrested were released within two hours.
