  • Why is attock not part of Khyber Pakhtunhwa as it was also once Afghanistan?

Attock is in punjab on border with kpk the inhabitants of attock are mostly Pashtun

Attock And Mianwali were the two districts that belonged to KPK before One Unit formation by Ayub Khan. Later when one unit was abolished they gave those two districts to Punjab.

I once heard that while they were discussing Kalabagh Dam (which is to be built in Mianwali) Bacha Khan asked them to give back the Mianwali district to KPK so that we can get the royalty of the dam and we will have no problem with the dam what so ever.

The same logic is equally valid for tribal areas and 45% Balochistan which are totally Pashtuns and Pashto speakers. In Attock and Mianwali you may find non Pashtuns and Pashtuns but not Pashto speaking.

Shehbaz is right, mianwali and Attock were districts of NWFP....but Attock is more like haripur than nowshera, its inhabitants speak hindko and potohari...there are 6 tehsils in Attock district, only attock tehsil is pathan majority...you must be thinking why i used word pathan....because pathans of chach area of attock tehsil tehsil have lost pashto and speak hindko, like jadoons, tareens etc of hazara...only few border villages with KPK speak pashto. In my opinion they would find soba hazara more appealing than joining back KPK.

Mianwali case is different. Niazi tribe is dominant here, make atleast 40% of total population. They are dominating every aspect of life in the district. Niazis mother tongue is punjabi but most of them can communicate in pashto. In addition there is pashto speaking tribe bilach. Moreover bhangi khel khattaks of kalabagh are pashto speakers. The non-pashtuns are indian mohajirs, jats and awans. According to wiki 10% of population in mianwali speak pashto. My observations also say so. Total population of district is 1.6 million, 10% means there are 1 lakh 60 thousands pashto speakers, it is big population. Like people of attock, Niazis are happy with punjab. It was extremely backward area but has made a lot of progress in punjab. It was a desert but was converted into agricultural lands, thanks to Punjab.

I can ask the same thing about dera ghazi khan. There are a lot of pashtuns there and it is before the indus river yet it is part of punjab. i don't think chitral should be part of KPK, they are a dardic group.

And nuristan shouldnt be part of Afghanistan? Because you must know that people of chitral and nuristanis are same people...your logic is flawed. Dera ghazi khan do not have any pashto speaking population. It is dominated by jats and baloch. The kehtranis there, though of pashtun origin, call themeselves baloch. Their langauge kehtrani is mix of balochi and pashto. DG khan lies on other side of indus , on east. It is dera ismael khan, whose western half is pashtun.

The only area of punjab which lie on western side of river indus is isakhel tehsil of Mianwali. It has highest concentrations of Niazi tribe, some say 90% people of isakhel tehsil are pashtuns....the kalabagh area is geographically in KPK, may be it was given to punjab in 1970 for kalabagh dam, the plan for which was in the 50s. There are also oil reserves in kalabagh.

Please look at a map once in a while. I am sick of ignorant KPK Pashtuns like you clamming everyone and their land. Dera ghazi khan is located BEFORE the Indus River. Those jatts there are immigrants and a big niazi and Musakheel population in present there. Nuristanis are not native there, they just live there. Just because Pashtuns there dont speak pashto, doesn't mean they aren't pashtun. Nuristan is surrounded by other provinces so it wouldn't make sense to remove it right? Also there are NO pashtuns in chitralis, go ahead and find me one i dare you. Majority of chitralis in pakistan don't want to be part of KPK just like Hindokwans who protested the name change of NWFP.

Chitral is administrative unit of KPK. They have no demand of separation from KPK.

Any source for your claim?. There is no "big" population of niazis and musakhels in that region. Niazis have villages in Bhakkar and layyah but not in DG khan. Any people who can be called pashtun to some extent are kehtranis who also live in adjacent musa khel district of balochistan.
Nuristanis are not native there, they just live there. Just because Pashtuns there dont speak pashto, doesn't mean they aren't pashtun.
Nuristan is 99% composed of nuristanis if wikipedia is to be believed. Afghans also say that it is nuristani majority province. Both nuristan and chitral were land of kafirs, kafiristan, same dardic people....chitral was part of afghanistan before durand line treaty.
Nuristan is surrounded by other provinces so it wouldn't make sense to remove it right?
But same is case with chitral also, why you suggest removing it from KPK?. Chitral can not be added to GB which is a disputed territory neither it can be given to Afghanistan. So KPK is only option. Chitrals are o.k being part of KPK.
Also there are NO pashtuns in chitralis, go ahead and find me one i dare you. Majority of chitralis in pakistan don't want to be part of KPK just like Hindokwans who protested the name change of NWFP.
Just give me the links of news in which chitralis protested against renaming and want their own province or some thing like that. Who has made you spokesperson of chitralis? . Lets apply your formula balkh, it is not a pashtun province...

^ lol your ignorant of history. There is a documentary on the khalash people on their refusal to convert to Islam and their likeness of a seperate province. Your from KPK, you should take some interest in your family's history and know whether your great grandfather immigrated from Afghanistan or not like 99% of Pashtuns settled in KPK. You should also know that the name "Khyber Pakhtunkhwa" is very blatant and doesn't apply to the whole population since there are so many different ethnic groups (mostly dardic) who were there before the majority of Pashtun tribes who settled there.

Oh and Balkh isn't pashtun? Need I remind you luffy khan that 30-35% of the population is pashtun who are mostly settled in the ancient city of balkh in adjacent to Tajiks who make up 50% of the renaming population.

Kalash non-muslim population is only around 3 thousands, rest of entire population of 0.45 million is muslim...there is no demand of separate province, its just a district. Your name kushan prince indicate your field of interest, like many western afghans calling themeselves aryan, saka, hepthalite and what not....race, haplogroups and genetics...its just BS. If you have problem with name of Khyber pakhtunkhwa then think about your own country. Why it is named Afghanistan when only 42% population is pakhtun?

                              My "own country"?

I thought we were all one? Didn't you tell me in another thread that you considered yourself afghan and was willing to become part of Afghanistan? Oh and that 42% is from a very old cencus. The real estimate of Pashtuns in Afghanistan is 60%. Non pashtuns still like to use old cencus for some reason.
