Not exactly. District Chitral is larger than Nooristan, both have same type of people... Districts in Pakistan are divided on the basis of population, many have small area but large population. Forexample my district has area of 3173 sq. Km but has population of 0.7 million which is larger than many provinces of afghanistan. Bajaur agency is very small agency with area of 1293 sq.km but has population of 0.8 million.

it encourages tribalism and casting system so it does have plenty to do with it. Selfishness and greediness leading to the cause root of corruption .Originally posted by Manzareh View Post^ that's nothing to do with size or amounts of provinces.Last edited by DaZahroJaam.; 05-20-2013, 12:07 PM.

assuming a strong central govt with strong natl institutions are established and entrenched, at that point a devolution of authority is required, and i believe Afghanistan would be better served with one capital city region (Kabul) and breaking down the provinces into 10 regional govts, comprising of 3-4 provinces each
that way we build at the local and regional level (economically, infrasturcutre) so that way we re building local communities from the ground up
90% of Afghan peoples interactions are within the province so regional development is necessary

Honestly, I think the reason why Afghanistan has a lot of provinces is to make the country seem bigger, although I think it is rediciulous since there are a lot of useless provinces out there only formed for the beniefit of different ethnic groups."Revenge is a dish best served cold".

Shut up you pseudo connoisseur of anything related to Afghanistan. You blithering idiot, about it to do with money.lol You are smug about it too. The genesis of the large number of provinces goes back to the time and policy of Amir Abdurrahman Khan when he embarked on creating administrative units to detach and weaken Khans and notables from their tribal and ethnic bases. Only few provinces like Khost durring commies and Panjshere etc. to be contemporary cases.Originally posted by khushal View PostIts about the money Talal.
Each province gets funds from Kabul and when certain provinces complain about not getting enough funds for its respective people of the province, what happens is that the province is usually split up. For example, loya paktia used to comprise of paktia, paktika, khost and parts of ghazni province. When the province was complaining of not getting enough funds compared to other provinces, they first split it up in the late 70's into paktia and paktika and then again in post 2001 Paktia was split up into Paktia and Khost because they wanted more funds. Panjshir which used to be a district of parwan province became its own province in 2004 to get its own funds from Kabul.Last edited by ComradePashtun; 05-22-2013, 05:30 PM.

Kushan, In 1950 there were only 10 provinces and most of them were formed after 1950 for administrative reasons. Comrade is an idiot, he just likes to insult me because I have revealed the truth about him being molested by the child molesting panjshiri defense minister.
There were no provinces before Abdur Rahman, before him the Kings would work with tribal elders, he created provincial administrations to weaken the tribes autonomy and that is why he is considered the father of the "modern State of Afghanistan."

Well 10 provinces sound more realistic. I think it was done for tribal reasons, Afghanistan is not a small country to have 4 provinces like Uzbekistan or Tajikistan who have no culture or history.Originally posted by khushal View PostKushan, In 1950 there were only 10 provinces and most of them were formed after 1950 for administrative reasons. And as for Comrade, he sounds like an angered young man feeling distaste for his pashtuns brothers across the durand line.Last edited by Kushan Prince; 05-24-2013, 02:42 AM."Revenge is a dish best served cold".

How the hell is uzbekistan bigger then Afghanistan? Look at a map once in while uzbekistan is not bigger then Afghanistan in land size or population. States like uzbeksitan and tajikstan have MIXED culture, meaning they have been influenced by neighobrung cultues like afghan and Persian culture. Khushal you keep talking without proof, i need EVIDENCE. And when did i indicate there were 10 provinces in 1880? nowhere in my post did indicate that.Originally posted by khushal View Post10 in 1950, not in 1880. please read what people write before responding. A lot of your posts dont make sense Kushan. Uzbekistan is bigger than afghanistan and every country have culture and history."Revenge is a dish best served cold".
