Manzareh - I stand corrected. I've gotta go back through and read it more carefully, but thanks for posting this. I knew that China had a lot of the mineral rights - Afghanistan basically traded the rights for roads that are continuously destroyed by roadside and culvert bombs. I didn't realize the depth of the mineral deposits, though. That's interesting. Lemme dig and I'll reformulate an opinion. Thanks!

Afghanistan easily is sitting on 1-3$ trillion dollar of natural resources, plus arguably one of the most strategic locations on earth.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

This is exactly the excuse tajiks like to use and call all Pashtuns "watan forosh" because of this kuni karzai.
Your post is filled with contradiction. How did Dost Mohammad welcome invaders when he fought against the brits and how did he rely on persia when he fought them and defeated them and took Herat from them. Its about the art of balancing regional powers.

Karzai serve tajiks, so what they are saying don't make sense.
