Heavy clashes between Afghan and Pakistani troops in Goshta - Khaama Press (KP) | Afghan Online Newspaper

Heavy clashes were reported between Afghan and Pakistani security forces in Goshta district of eastern Nangarhar province on Wednesday evening.
An Afghan security official speaking on the condition of anonymity said clashes were started by Pakistani military in a bid to take control of the newly built gates inside the Afghan soil.
The source further added Afghan security have managed to destroy a number of the Pakistani military installations inside the Afghan soil during the clashes.
Another Afghan police officer also said that Pakistani troops have left and moved from their security check posts created inside the Afghan soil.
He said one of the security check post of the Pakistani troops have been completedly damaged during the clashes and clashes and at least 9 Pakistani military forces were killed.
In the meantime reports from eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan suggest that Afghan national army soldiers have left for Goshta district to provide support for the Afghan security forces engaging Pakistani troops.
A spokesman for the Afghanistan border protection police forces Edris Momand said one Afghan border police officer was killed and at least three others were injured during the clashes.
Mr. Momand further added that Afghan security forces seized five check posts of the Pakistani troops however they pulled back from the area around 8am local time after receiving instructions from capital Kabul.
Pakistani officials accused Afghan security forces for attacking a security check post of Pakistani forces leaving two Pakistani troops injured.
An official in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said Afghan security forces attacked the security check post in Mohmand Agency around 10pm and the clashes continued for almost two hours.
The official speaking on the condition of anonymity confirmed at least two Pakistani troops were injured during the attack.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

Just about every source, and even the New York Times makes a reference, claims at least 9 Pakistanis are confirmed dead, and only 1 victim from the Afghan side. Afghans overran, and brought down all the posts, so huge tactical victory for the Afghan side; whereas Pakistan is being totally delusional about this right now.

It is in the best interest of Pakistan, to not appear like its an invader. History educates us very well, and tells us very clearly what Afghans do with invaders. Also, to add, I wouldnt be surprised if India funded, and supplied the Afghan side with weapons. The days have changed, this is no longer the 90's. It is in Pakistan's best interest to not meddle in Afghan affairs, and recognize that all Pakistan is doing is uniting the Afghan nation, and creating a strong sense of nationalism. For example, as soon as Afghans killed AT LEAST 10 Pakistani force members, thousands of Nangarharis began rallying and attended the funeral of the single Afghan that died.

This reminds me of the US and Canada situation. For a long time, the government of the USA regarded Canada as a joke, and even went as far as invading it; but the US despite being far more powerful and strong, failed. Learn from history Pakistan, gone are the old days. Unity, nation-building, and better trade is what the two governments should aim for, since I am sure that is what the nationals on both sides want.

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Werent those posts given to the Pakistani forces by US forces when US forces withdrew from the area and why are you guys cheering at a US created and funded institution(ANA) of killing pakistani military soldiers which is British created and US funded institution.

Its as though the US gave bread to the pakistani dogs and told the afghan dogs, go fight for yours and sit on the sidelines laughing.

The border police spokesman, speaking on condition of anonymity in line with his agency’s policy, said there were unconfirmed reports that nine Pakistani militiamen were killed in the clash.

However, Pakistani government officials said only two of their security personnel were wounded in a cross-fire and there were no reports of border facilities changing hands. And an Afghan member of parliament from Goshta district, Friadon Momand, said his information was that the border crossing had not been destroyed and was still operating

Although khushal probably said the most sensible thing of all, our people are fighting like dogs over scraps thrown to them by the US forces.

Afghan, Pakistani forces clash in Goshta
                  By Mahbob Shah Mahbob May 2, 2013 - 10:37

JALALABAD (PAN): Afghan forces pulled down a controversial border gate following a seven-hour clash with Pakistani troops in the eastern province of Nangarhar, an official said on Thursday.

The overnight skirmish was touched off by a Pakistani attack on an Afghan border post, prompting a strong response from the national forces, a security official told Pajhwok Afghan News.

At least 10 Pakistani border guards were killed and wounded in the ferocious fire exchange in Goshta district, the source said on condition of anonymity. “One Afghan was martyred and five others were wounded.”

Afghan troops were staying in the area where the gate had been erected by Pakistan some weeks ago. Isa Khan, the district chief, also confirmed the clash but refused to give further details.

Resident Bilal Karim Momand said the overnight fighting caused civilians no harm. Heavy weapons were used by both sides during the battle that continued until sunrise, he added.

Pakistan had built the gate and other installations at zero point along the porous frontier in Goshta and Lalpura districts of the province, according to local authorities.

The constructions fuelled new tensions between the neighbours and Deputy Foreign Minister Javed Ludin summoned Pakistani Ambassador Mohammad Sadiq on the issue.

                    Afghan Border Forces On Alert

Afghan Ministry of Interior on Thursday said that more forces have been stationed on the border with Pakistan and the forces are on standby.

The Ministry of Interior warns that if Pakistan’s military violation continues in the border area, Afghan security forces will strongly react against them.

Meanwhile, Kandahar police officials say that security forces in border areas with Pakistan are ready to respond to any threats and clash with Pakistani military.

Afghanistan border areas have been a shelling point of Pakistan’s artillery and even air attacks but at the height of the cable strained relations with Islamabad, Pakistani forces have attacked on border police checkpoints in Goshta District of Nangarhar province.

The attack has faced retaliation by Afghan border police with the mandate of Ministry of Interior on Wednesday night.

“This confrontation started when Pakistani military attacked on border police checkpoints and the border police responded to them strongly,”
Sediq Sediqi spokesperson of Ministry of Interior told TOLOnews.

“We believe the Pakistani forces will continue their violation, and if they make any attempt to attack on Afghanistan, police forces will respond to them strongly and currently border police forces are stationed in Goshta district,” he added.

On the other hand Kandahar border security officials declared their preparations against any kind of attack by Pakistani military.

“Border police are on standby in all border districts,” Kandahar police commander General Abdul Razaq told TOLOnews.

Some Afghan parties expressed appreciation to the stance that the Afghan forces have taken to defend the territorial integrity of their country.

“We appreciate this brave action, and believe that Pakistan and Afghanistan should solve these tensions via dialogue,” Member of Rights and Justice party Abbas Naweyan told TOLOnews.

Confronting of Afghan border police with Pakistani forces have followed appreciation by Afghan citizens inside and outside the country.

Afghans on Facebook and Twitter also praised the bravery of Afghan security forces to defend territorial integrity of Afghanistan.

“This is one of big responsibilities of the government to defend territorial integrity and national reputation of Afghanistan,”
President Karzai’s brother Mahmood Karzai told TOLOnews.

In the mean time, some Afghan border military officials claimed to have killed at least seven Pakistani soldiers in the clash which took place between Afghan and Pakistan Border Forces late Wednesday night in Goshta district of eastern Nangarhar province

One Afghan border police was killed and three others wounded, officials added.

“In this clash between Afghan and Pakistani border police, seven Pakistani soldiers were killed,” Afghanistan’s eastern border police commander said.

“During the clash, one Afghan border police was killed and three others wounded,” Deputy Governor Mohammad Hanif Girdiwal told TOLOnews.

Meanwhile, member of Internal Security Committee of Parliament Mohammad Naeem Lalai Hamidzai, Shakiba Hashimi and deputy head of NDS for Operation Dr Yasin Zia visited the area.

“Pakistan military moved forward 45km and the government had neglected in this regard,” Naeem Lalai said.

Afghanistan has the longest border with Pakistan and this border has always been full of risk for the security of the country. Alongside terrorists’ infiltration from Pakistan into Afghanistan, Pakistan’s military have also been problematic for Afghanistan.

Just about every source, along with images, show that the Pakistan side brought tanks, and it resulted in allegedly a helicopter down from the Pak side, men ded, and the post gone. In fact, if you visit Pajhwok, they posted a video of it too. Claiming only 'two' are injured is nothing but brain-damage control, and psychological warfare. It's early to speak, some Pakistani news agencies are still awaiting ISI's approval for their publication of the news, but if it's one thing this has caused, it is Pashtun unity. The governor of Paktika went as far as calling Pakistan an enemy, and that's a huge blow to ties. There is also no denial that Pakistan has been throwing a volley of missiles daily, and so attacking them right back was the most logical think possible when under fire. Like I said, Pakistan continues to dig a hole for it's self, and is continously living up to its reputation as the world's main exporter of IT, International Terrorism, not Information Technology like India does.

KABUL — Afghan troops destroyed a disputed Pakistani border station after a deadly overnight clash that marked a violent turn in already poor relations between the neighbors, Afghan authorities said Thursday.
The clash broke out Wednesday evening along the border in Afghanistan’s eastern province of Nangarhar and lasted into the early morning hours, leaving one Afghan soldier dead, according to Idrees Mohmand, spokesman for the Afghan Border Police Eastern Command.
The Associated Press cited a Pakistani military official as saying that four of their security personnel were injured in the firefight.
Afghan and Pakistani officials gave conflicting accounts of how the incident started.
The Pakistani military official cited by AP said a group of militants crossed the border and attacked a Pakistani post in the Mohmand tribal region.
Afghan Ministry of Interior spokesman Sediq Sediqqi said the clash started when Pakistani troops began shelling an Afghan border post. Afghan Border Police soldiers responded with their own artillery as well as small arms and rocket-propelled grenades.
Mohmand said, after the clash, Afghan troops captured the disputed Pakistani border station in Goshta district and burned it down along with a kilometer-long wall the Pakistanis had built on the disputed Durand Line, which demarcates the frontier between the two countries. Afghanistan does not recognize it as the border.
Sediqqi said the Afghan border police are on high alert and that reinforcements had been sent to the area.
“Last night’s attack was really unfortunate,” Sediqqi said. The Afghan Border Police “had to reply back. The police were attacked and they replied.”
A spokesman for the International Security Assistance Force said ISAF was aware of “reports of shooting at Gharsal gate in Nangahar province.”
“ISAF was not involved in this incident. We are working with Afghan and Pakistani authorities to determine what has occurred,” the spokesman said.
Reaction from Afghans on social media was swift, with many posting nationalist slogans alongside photos purported to be of the Afghan soldier killed in the clash.
The border post in Goshta district had been an irritant in relations between Kabul and Islamabad for several weeks, though the controversy appeared to have died down last month after Pakistan said the issue had been resolved with Kabul.
Although tensions along the border have been high for years and rocket attacks from the Pakistan side of the border are relatively common, infantry clashes are extremely rare. Afghanistan has long accused Pakistan’s secret service of funding, training and giving safe-haven to the Afghan Taliban, while Islamabad contends fighters from the Pakistani Taliban find refuge on the Afghan side of the border.
The rocket attacks from Pakistan, which have forced thousands of Afghans to flee their villages and killed several people, have hardened already negative opinions many Afghans already had about Pakistan.
At a security meeting with U.S. troops earlier in the week, Mohibullah Samim, governor of Paktika province, which borders Pakistan in eastern Afghanistan, had harsh words for Afghanistan’s neighbor.
“We shouldn’t tell each other we don’t have enemies,” he said. “Our main enemy is Pakistan.”
Wednesday’s firefight comes just over two weeks after a deadly clash between Afghan commandos and Taliban fighters near the Pakistani border in which Afghan officials accused Pakistan of aiding insurgents with artillery fire.
For years, military officers from the U.S., Afghanistan and Pakistan have been meeting regularly as part of the Trilateral Commission, aimed at decreasing border tension and increasing military to military cooperation. But relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan seem to have worsened over the past year.
A spokesman for Afghan President Hamid Karzai confirmed Wednesday’s clash had happened, but said Karzai’s office was still investigating the incident and could not comment further.
The worsening relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan are a further blow to faltering efforts to start peace talks between insurgents and the Afghan government. Pakistani participation and support is widely believed to be key to any negotiated peace

Heavy clashes have been reported between Afghan and Pakistani security forces in Goshta district of eastern Nangarhar province on Wednesday evening.

According to reports clashes are still going on between the two sides and there are no reports regarding the casualties as a result of the clashes.

An Afghan security official speaking on the condition of anonymity said clashes were started by Pakistani military in a bid to take control of the newly built gates inside the Afghan soil.

Kabul seeks US help in retaking Pak border posts

KABUL : President Hamid Karzai has written a letter to his US counterpart Barack Obama, seeking America's help in retaking nearly a dozen border security posts that were captured by Pakistani forces in eastern Nangarhar province a decade ago, an official said on Sunday.

Citing reports compiled by Afghan officials who had been tasked with investigating Pakistan forces' advancement, Karzai wrote the issue was sensitive because US troops had been involved in paving the ground for the Pakistanis to capture the posts in Gushta, said Abdul Karim Khurram, the president's chief of staff.

He said the US troops had established the 11 posts to keep an eye on militants crossing the border into Afghanistan from Pakistan. He added Karzai had urged Obama to back Afghanistan's efforts in regaining control of the checkpoints.

It is believed US troops had helped Pakistanis occupy the posts instead of handing them over to Afghan border forces.

Under a strategic agreement between the allies, the US will help Afghanistan in case it is attacked from outside. Both countries are also in talks over signing a bilateral security agreement.

Earlier this month, there were reports that Pakistani military had erected a new security gate in Goshta district near the Durand Line. The reports sparked protests in Afghanistan and further deteriorated the already strained relations between the neighbours.

Deputy Foreign Minister Javed Lodin summoned the Pakistani ambassador to lodge a protest over the border gate, expressing grave concern over the unilateral construction of new military installations along the frontier.

Although the Ministry of Defence says Pakistani officials have promised to remove the gate, a Pajhwok reporter recently visited the site and saw a new gate being established 200 metres behind the old one.

To discuss the situation, a high-level Afghan delegation earlier this month visited Rawalpindi, where the Pakistani Army is headquartered. After the meeting, Pakistan said border issues with Afghanistan had been resolved.

                              You see?

This is one of the reasons why Pakistan can't coexist with Afghanistan or any other country, because of all the terrorism they conduct and they way they cross the durand line thinking they own the place. America was the one who set them up so they can qurral with each other.

This is America's strategical way of trying to stay longer in afghanistan...
