PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao on Tuesday said his party will ensure Pukhtuns are brought under one administrative unit if elected into power.

Addressing a press conference with members of the Pashtun Rabita Committee (PRC) Balochistan at the QWP’s provincial secretariat, Sherpao said Pukhtun nationalist parties – both in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan – have failed to defend the rights of Pukhtuns and establish peace in the region.
The traditional nationalist parties have failed to advocate the cause of the Pukhtuns, which has added to their woes, claimed Sherpao.
He criticised the Awami National Party (ANP) for not taking serious initiatives to restore peace in the region. According to Sherpao, his party would spare no efforts to bring an end to the growing despondency among Pukhtuns, who have been victims of unabated militancy and terrorism.
Commenting on the possibility of a delay in general elections, he said his party will oppose any move aimed at postponing the polls. “Holding free, fair and transparent elections is the only way to steer the country out of its prevailing crises.”
“Unlike the past, people are more politically mature and can make the right decisions to elect those not involved in corruption,” he said. “Law and order must be maintained so the elections can be held in a peaceful environment.”
Later, the QWP and the Pashtun Rabita Committee unveiled a joint resolution seeking the formation of a joint province for all the Pukhtuns living in different parts of Pakistan.
The resolution stated Pakhtuns had been divided into three administrative units in Pakistan and should be united through the creation of a separate province within the federation of Pakistan.
Both parties expressed concern over the target killings of Pukhtuns in various parts of the country and termed it a failure of state institutions.

Aftab Ahmad khan sherpao was an active leader in pashtunkhwa .After surviving tow attacks on him and his sons by the pro ,,isi,,talibans.
A group of 54 ex ANP atctivists and leaders launch a party under the leadership of Aftab Ahmad khan sherpao.
He was selected because the man was loyal,clever,intelligent and brave heart pashtun.
He never left pakhtunkhwa after pro ,,isi,,talibs attacked him.
Unlike asfandyar jumped before his into paki helicopter and escaped to punjab for five years.
Sherpao has deep interest to bring peace into the region and unite pashtuns.

The tricolor red-black-white flag of the party exactly resembles the flag of the Kingdom of Afghanistan during the regime of Habibullāh Kalakāni or Bacha-i-Saqao (January 1929 – October 1929).[5] The same colors were also used by the Mongols when they occupied present-day Afghanistan in the 13th century

As I heard it, this man is a life long, land owning, generational politician as well whose family benefited from British largesse. If I recall on my readings on him - he served in the Pakistani Armed forces (I may be wrong).

How is this any different in terms of making him a man of the people?

The whole system of that country is controlled by 7 or 8 land owning families and these folks rotate leadership between themselves and shed and create parties within days.

As far as I remember his brother Hayat Khan Sherpao belonged to Pakistan Peoples Party and than having some differences with the Bhuttos they launched Pakistan Peoples Party Sherpao Group. I don't know when did they name it Qaumi Watan Party.

And Daktar Saib (Barakzai) is right. Aftab Sherpao was serving in the Army while his brother was killed in politics. He is a Retired Major of Pakistan Army. He resigned and joined politics after the death of his brother.

I guess it was his Army background that helped him to be the Interior Minister of the Country while Musharraf was the President. He wasn't that strong on political grounds to be the Interior Minister.

Aftab sherpao started his political career from Pakistan Peoples party on the name of his Brother Hayat Sherpao who was killed in a bomb blast but soon he parted ways from PPP and made his own faction on the name of PPP(Sherpao)After Musharraf's Martial's law He was arrested by the NAB due to corruption charges and then he made a compromise with the then dictator General Musharraf and was made free from all charges and appointed the interior minister of Pakistan. During his ministry Madrassas in Bajaur and other tribal areas were blown up by Musharaf and as a result he came under the attacks of Talibans........
Being an ex Army officer he served obediently his master Musharraf and after Mush decline in 2008 elections he and his son won seats in Charsadda and now in 2013 he changed the name of his party to Qaumi watan party and put forward a manifesto quite similar to ANP. For election 2013 he has made alliance with JUI and JI on NA-7 against Asfandyar Wali khan. His main aim is to take the place of ANP in peshawar Valley and for that he might be enjoying the support of Establishment.

They are more punjabizad then anyone.
Afzal khan lala,s son is pak army major and he is the leader of ANP.
AZAM KHAN HOTi the owner of ANP and asfandyar,s brother in law was pak army captain.
ANP ruined pashtunkhwa and was declared the most corrupt province in the history of pakistan.
Sherpao done more for pashtunkhwa then ANP EVER DONE.
In swabi he build big hospital,complex,bridges and so.
Later anp change the name of hospital to bacha khan complex.
A big building of kushal khan memorail library in akori was also built by him.
It is fact that fateh khan of buner whom fought against talibans and was later killed by ,,isi,, was close friend of sherpao and local leader of the party.
I dislike him more then anyone but now he form pashtun nationalist party and we should wait what happen.
Many of the nantionalist leaders of anp now joind him.
I put this question to him in fron of many former ANP nationalists now join QWP,,,,,,DO YOU ACCEPT DURANDLINE AS A BORDER BETWEEN PAKISTAN AND AFGHANISTAN?

Well gula! i won't explain here that who has done more for pashtuns ANP or Sherpao. What ANP and Sherpao has done for the province is crystal clear to the public no need to mention it.
When one's relative is in Army that doesn't mean he/she is pro-army or pro-establishment. and tell me one thing if according to you ANP is a pro establishment party then why they are on the target and establishment is now giving them the security instead they are getting it back from ANP leaders?
Everybody know well that today even a person with a red cap is on the target of Talibans thousands of ANP workers have been killed by terrorists 4-5 MPAs and one ministers got martyred and still you are saying where the leaders are?
Today in Mathra(Peshawar) the talibans have given the deadline to the public to remove red flags from their houses till 10:00a.m otherwise they will be targeted.....It is only ANP which is standing against militancy and terrorism, Asfandyar, Bilour and Mia Iftikhar are speaking against militants and are challenging them it is not your Sherpao or Imran or Nawaz instead they are enjoying their election compaign and are criminally silent about the terrorism in the province.
A person who served as a loyal servant to a dictator (Mush) when he destroyed Afghanistan is against Durand line? are you joking?
