Interesting Pic
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.
Sayyid Qutb -
Where did you find that, Randolph ?
The main pic was in Amin Wardak's autobiography, Memoires de Guerre.
The small inset ones were added to help underscore the point.
I recognized Jelaluddin right away and it seems SO IRONIC to see him speaking
with Massoud in the top left inset photo !
Definitely different times. Of course this was a very rare Jirga held of major
Mujahideen leaders in the late 1980s, I believe. It wasn't like it happened every day....
Number 3, Said Jaglan, was a name from that era, but I don't know what ever
happened to him. He was a Shia leader of the Hazaras, and a famous name then.
The others are all well known of course. But I never heard of
number 7, Akhtar Mohammad Tolwak.
Anyone know about him ? A Pashtun leader from Eastern Afghanistan, maybe?

^ No, that's NOT true.
Many of these were brilliant and brave commanders.
Is there any word about Amin Wardak these days, do you know, then ?
I think khushal is right about the other 5 have gone on to the next worlds -
good or bad...
It seems a bit poignant as it shows how the time has passed since those
relatively glorious days. Relatively !
The caption about the food was funny - the meaning of the others not clear.
They couldn't be cold ; they are just wearing their patus as they do in all weather. Not because of a chilly day. I am sure you know that.
Is that idiot ?
The book looks faintly worth reading, maybe the only one written by Westerners in the last few decades which sheds any light at all on the truth.
I don't know though: there seems to be an "Abdul Haq Fan Club among certain
Westerners which I don't understand. They have raised him up on a pedestal which I don't see that he deserves.
I probably will buy the book because there may be some other background which is rare and helpful, I hope. Thanks for researching that, Talal.
I would NEVER have found it otherwise.
