As far as your question goes, the majority of this site is from Afghanistan and Pakistan. We also have a few Tajiks from Kabul,Hindus, a lot of atheists and people from Armenia, uf there are way too many countries to list. Some countries that we have are Pashtuns from Norway,Germany,Holland,Scotland and etc.
But as your question goes, I am willing to vote for any country in which my people gain respect.
However our language must be used. As of now, we are being ignored.
and as far as your other part goes we are civilized people here nearly all of us are University students. We have a lot of scholars and poets present here. Some are pretty famous people from what I have heard.
You being a Tajik means nothing in Pashtun Forums, you are welcomed. I am new myself but I can assure you that you will love it here and I hope you learn, just as how I have learned from many.
Dear Amna Sister,
To answer your question directly and very abstractly, what makes ME a Tajik is the fact that it is the WORD popularly used today to DESCRIBE the ethno-linguistic group that I belong to, that being the native sedentary Persian speaking peoples of today’s Afghanistan.
I will try to contribute to the political discussions here from time to time. I hope I get a better understanding of Pashtuns and their concerns in the process, and furthermore I hope in return Pashtuns can get a better (free of ISI propaganda) understanding of Tajiks and our concerns.
A bit of trust due understanding each other, some love and a bit of humility is the secret towards attaining true peace and harmony.

Firstly let me say, I’m NOT a Pashtun but a Tajik (and a proud one at that), so if my presence is not welcome, I do apologize.
You are very well welcomed here. I wanted to thank you for joining us. You are not the first Tajik here. As long as you have something positive to contribute Id be visiting your profile daily to see what you have posted. I wish Laila was here, She would have welcomed you and said we are a family which we are.

Can you explain the bolded part.
I expected to see a bunch of angry Pashtuns cursing Tajiks, Hazaras, Punjabi, and just about everyone besides themselves but I see there is a diverse set of opinions here and critical analysis of certain aspects of your culture and politicians or movements.

Oh no. That is against the rules. I think if someone even insults you here, you can get them banned. Just report the post.

And what about the Tajiks of Kandahar? We slaughter them? Ethnic cleansing? Your concept is a bit tad off here.Originally posted by Khidr View PostI’m a great believer in freedom for all peoples and I believe in the need for the creation of a separate Pashtun homeland and Baloch homeland is a just and perhaps the only LOGICAL SUSTAINABLE solution. Both. You will see Muslims,Atheists, Pakistanis,Germans,Afghans everyone.Originally posted by Khidr View PostMy question is: Are most of you guys from the modern state of Pakistan or Afghanistan? And do you beleive in an eventual seperate Pashtun state homeland which includes only the Pashtun areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan, or do you advocate a Greater Afghanistan where Pashtuns of Pakistan are incorporated into present Afghanistan?
Id go for a greater Afghanistan with out lands back. We need Pakhtunkhwa, our rightfully land back.

Dear Sholmbay Agha,Originally posted by shlombayWelcome here our dear brother. You are welcomed by me.
What is your opinion of us. What rights do you think we deserve. I have a lot to ask you dear brother.
As far as Afghanistan goes, we will get into that.
-Shlombay Khan.
My opinion on Pashtun? lol well I guess the best way to put it is that in Pashtuns I see my own people...in your good and commendable traits I see many similarities with my own Tajiks but also in your bad traits I see many similarities with my own people.
As far as the rights of Afghan Pashtuns are concerned, I obviously know many through friendship, marriage and blood so I am well acquanited with their grievances just as they are with mine. I still see myself as an Afghan so as far your rights are concerned in Afghanistan, I think despite the horrible situation our country find itself and the bleak future ahead...there is still hope in my heart for a united Afghanistan if both sides (and other ethnicites) are willing to compromise. I think our differences are NOT that great that it cannot be resolved but it’s a question of will.
I don’t know any Pakistani Pashtuns so I guess that’s why I am here in this forum, to see if there are any Afridis here or Wazirs and Mehsuds and what they think of the current situation and their views on the future.
Wasalaam.

Welcome, I am a Pakistani Afghan (Pushtun), and I am aware of the flake on Pakistan and ISI and so on, but I consider Tajik and Uzbek as do all others like me as our brothers, just like the Punjabis.Originally posted by Khidr View PostSalaam,

As for the what I would like to be in our future, I am a realist, that means, I believe in practical workable and in sync with on the ground realities, of course, a little bit of idealism is always welcome.
I believe, that in there is not a single thing that can prevent the Natural brothers, the Afghans of Afghanistan and Pakistan from becoming truly as one. The reality is also that, both Afghanistan and Pakistan will remain as sovereign independent countries, in the foreseeable future.
The best way then, is the one that is least problematic and most fruitful, i.e., a Union like the European Union.!!
That is the way where all ethnicities, Afghan, Punjabi, Tajik, Balochi, Sindhi, Uzbek, etc. etc. retain their independent important roles as now but they also get the benefits of a unified strengthened machine like the E.U.
The modern new world like the EU and US, believes in regional Unions based on religion, culture, values, economy etc. etc. so should we.
That at least what I hope and pray for. Inshallah.Last edited by Guest; 07-06-2010, 11:06 PM.

Dear Agha ye Noorzai,Originally posted by Millatpal Noorzai View PostBTW what is your source of pride for being a TAZEK?
Firstly thank you for answering my question.
Now before I answer your question, I want to stress my use of the word “proud” does not mean one where I see myself or my ethnicity more superior than other peoples either culturally or genetically. Nor am I a defender of my people irrespective of the fundamental concepts of truth and justice. I see my pride as merely that I am proud of the achievements and actions of most of my ancestors and see their accomplishments’ as a great challenge but also as a humbling burden – depending on the mood I'm in lol...
Now to answer your question, I take pride in both the name and achievements/history of my people.
It seems you know the origin of the name since you used it in its original spelling “Tazik” so you may ask why take pride in it?
The name I take pride in because it confirms my Islamic identity and merges it with my ethno-linguistic identity. As you know, Tazik, was a word used by natives of Afghanistan prior to the coming of Islam to designate the Arabs of northern Arabia. So in essence it meant Arab. With time, when the light of Islam was brought to our people, natives of todays Afghanistan began to convert to the religion of the “Taziks” and so the non-Muslims natives’ derogatorily called the convert Muslim natives “Tazik” thus "Arab" to insult them. Eventually with time, all natives converted to Islam and we all became a big happy "Tazik" family LOL by the grace of Allah (swt).
With the coming of Mongols and Turks, the name took its modern meaning and a broader application and stuck on us when Mongols/Turks referred to the MUSLIM Persian speaking natives of Khurasan as Tajiks.

Khadir, I agree. The only durable solution to the regional problems is the creation of new states e.g. Pashtunistan that will unite Pashtun part of Afghanistan with the the corresponding Pashtun territory of Pakistan. I am one of the proponents of this idea on this forum.
