  • Tajik perspective on Pashtun Politics :)

    Salaam,

Firstly let me say, I’m NOT a Pashtun but a Tajik (and a proud one at that), so if my presence is not welcome, I do apologize.

Its university holidays and I'm hella bored so I stumbled across this rather INTERESTING forum. Interesting because I’m pleasantly surprised by your recognition and comprehension in regards to the enormous problems facing your people on both sides of that “wonderful and popular border,” lol and the manipulative and destructive role that ISI and Pakistan is playing and has played in your (and my) present plight.

I expected to see a bunch of angry Pashtuns cursing Tajiks, Hazaras, Punjabi, and just about everyone besides themselves but I see there is a diverse set of opinions here and critical analysis of certain aspects of your culture and politicians or movements. It appears to me with the exception of a few inevitable ISI stooges most of you are genuine Pashtun “patriots” whose main concern is the advancement of your people and not oppression of others be it Tajik or Panjabi?

I’m a great believer in freedom for all peoples and I believe in the need for the creation of a separate Pashtun homeland and Baloch homeland is a just and perhaps the only LOGICAL SUSTAINABLE solution. This includeS the annexation of Pashtun parts of Afghanistan and consolidation of it into one Pashtunistan if that is how Afghani Pashtuns wish to go.

My question is: Are most of you guys from the modern state of Pakistan or Afghanistan? And do you beleive in an eventual seperate Pashtun state homeland which includes only the Pashtun areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan, or do you advocate a Greater Afghanistan where Pashtuns of Pakistan are incorporated into present Afghanistan?

It seems Afghan Pashtuns tend to favour the latter (which is where the wrangling amongst Tajiks vs Pashtuns starts) whilst Pashtuns from Pakistan advocate the former?

As salaamu aleikoum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

    Bache khala ba khair amadi!

Let me burst the bubble for you right away.

Pashtuns of Afghanistan shall never part from their brethren, the Tajiks, Uzbeks, Hazaras and the rest.

We share a common history, religion, region and fate.

We have some problems due to some war mongers and people who like to use language, ethnicity and regionalism as a tool to divide people and to rally support behind themselves for their own personal interests.

Such demagogues and their followers only survive on foreign aid. While Iran is helping an funding Tajik fascists and seperatists, Pashtun fascists such as Afghan Mellat are sponsored by America.

America, Iran, India and Pakistan play a big role in the growth of division and animosity among the people of Afghanistan.

In current circumstances, the mroe divided we are, the weaker we will be. Everybody has got us surrounded and instead of us standing united to serve our common interests, we are being told to insult and hate one another based on language and ethnicity.

While civilized and advanced parts of the modern world unite under a greater banner representing everyones common interests like in European Union, our dumb and ignorant fellow countrymen, be it Tajik or Pashtun go around preaching division and dis-unity.

We have no interest in parting ways from other ethnic groups.

Besides, dividing Afghanistan on ethnic faultlines is impossible.

Pashtuns and non-Pashtuns alike have intermarried, and live all across Afghanistan in mixed communities.

There are many Pashtuns in Qunduz, Badghis, Takhar, Herat. And similarly, there are many Tajiks in Kandahar, Helmand & Ghazni.

What should we do with those people? A mass exodus? An ethnic cleansing?

Division is no solution. It only creates more problems.

I am from a mixed household. My mother is Tajik and my father is Pashtun. I shall never accept division of Afghanistan in to two seperate states.

I rather get killed than allow this to happen.

        Welcome here.

My first question to you is describe the word Tajik. Explain to me how you are a Tajik. What makes you a Tajik.

As far as your question goes, the majority of this site is from Afghanistan and Pakistan. We also have a few Tajiks from Kabul,Hindus, a lot of atheists and people from Armenia, uf there are way too many countries to list. Some countries that we have are Pashtuns from Norway,Germany,Holland,Scotland and etc.

But as your question goes, I am willing to vote for any country in which my people gain respect.

However our language must be used. As of now, we are being ignored.

and as far as your other part goes we are civilized people here nearly all of us are University students. We have a lot of scholars and poets present here. Some are pretty famous people from what I have heard.

You being a Tajik means nothing in Pashtun Forums, you are welcomed. I am new myself but I can assure you that you will love it here and I hope you learn, just as how I have learned from many.

This Khidr guy is a famous Pashtunphobic and hate mongering persona I am acquinted to. I also know alot more about him, alot more trust me. My two cent to him is that he is too insignificant and he should sit back and relax. We don't care about his concerns.

TAZEK is the genuine and literary term used for Tajoks/Tajiks.

We totally support Loy/Greater Afghanistan with all the ethnicities Pashtun, Tajik, Uzbek, Hazara, Pashai, Nuristani and Aimaqs having their due rights.

it hurts us when we saw Tajiks have a campaign going on in which they want to see Pashto go, they want to change military ranks from Pashto to Dari.

They want to change our anthem from Pashto to Dari.

last but not least they want Dari to replace Pashto as Afghanistans National language.

My dear Tajik brother, you are welcomed here. You really are, It's an honor to see you joined our family here. But let me ask you this,

Pashtuns have been against the NATO forces since 9/11. Pashtuns have died since the war has started..

How come not a single Tajik protested for our rights? How come No tajik protested and said 'stop killing our wat e aziz?'

                      Regards,
I do not see the point of this at all.
No one can decrease the status of Pashto as the Official/National language of Afghanistan.
I do not understand the second part. Amrullah Saleh was a Tajik and he was the biggest thorn in the flesh of the Pakistanis, the sworn enemy of Pashtun/Afghans.
The acceptance between Tajik, Pashtun, Hazara etc should be mutual. The 30 years of war has created ethnic tensions, but there is no difference among Pashtun/Tajik/Uzbek that cannot be solved in a Jirga.

Excellent Malgaro. The Afghan State is the parent state of all Pashtuns and the solution to all the political, economic and cultural problems of Pashtuns can be reduced to two things:

1 The stability of the Afghan Rebublic.
2 A political mass movement in Lar Watan based on Pashtun Nationalism and the rights of the masses.(Pashtunkhwa).

Hmm 40 million Pashtuns living side by side with 10 million Tajiks and 3 million Hazaras? Doesn't sound like a bad idea.
"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be".

Anthropology/Ethnology and real politik are two very different things. The former is speculative and the latter well-thought out, modeled and progressive.
